It's worse than that. He looks like my ex-husband. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

None of the above. I have one that's a memorial pin for a dead friend. I cherish it. I have another that hangs on a carbon fire choker made by a friend of mine. He made only two--one for him and one for me. He ended up giving his to Omar, and borrowing mine whenever he wanted to wear a pin. I cherish that too. But the one I really miss was cast for me in India out of gold. It's lying somewhere at the bottom of the New River after a hard opening broke the chain and sent it flying off my neck. If I wear a closing pin, people ask me about it. The temptation has always been to invent a religion, but so far, I've just given a straight explanation. All in all, they're a pretty piece of jewelry to me--with meaning that comes from their origin, not just from being a closing pin. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Looking out the window, it doesn't look like a load is going to go up anytime soon. It was pouring a few minutes ago. Now it's just drizzle, but we're well and truly socked in. Worse yet, it looks like tomorrow is going to be the same, both here and in Sebastian. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

Would it bother you to be called an anti-Christ?
RhondaLea replied to windcatcher's topic in Speakers Corner
That was weird. But I really didn't understand the point. There's a perfectly good word that has been used for years for those who are not Christian. I cannot imagine why someone would think "antiChrist" is a good substitute, particularly for those who don't much care either way as long as they're not bothered by those who want to save their souls. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. AFAIK, the gear store opens at approximately 8 am (and generally the first load goes at the same time, if the teams are training). The restaurant opens at 7:30. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

Andrea Yates walked today after killing 5 of her kids..
RhondaLea replied to rhino's topic in Speakers Corner
I suspect that releasing her from a supervised environment would mean her death. There's not much doubt in my mind that even, and perhaps especially, if she were in her right mind, Andrea Yates' first and only act upon being released would be to kill herself. Keeping her alive is probably a far more cruel punishment than giving her a quick death. Nonetheless, while I believe it would be her right to take her own life, I don't believe that, as punishments go, executing her is proper. She was abused, and as a direct result of the several kinds of abuse she suffered (in the absense of the pregnancy she was told to avoid, she would not have been subject to PPD/PPP), she became psychotic. The outcome of her psychosis is horrifying, but she is also a victim. Her husband failed in his responsibility toward the whole family, and because he was in his right mind, he is far more accountable than she is. Without his influence, she would never have killed those children. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb -

Rusty Yates should've stood trial right along with her. He didn't commit the act, but he fostered the atmosphere that led to the act, and further, against the advice of the psychiatrist, encouraged her to get pregnant again and to stop taking the Haldol. Living on the bus helped to drive her over the edge. After they moved and she was on medication, she started acting well nigh normal again. It was the final pregnancy and the medical non-compliance that started the downward spiral which led to the killing of her children. And that can be laid right in the lap of her husband. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb -

a. What about it, exactly, is hypothetical? b. If you ask a question of non-Christians, who better to respond than...non-Christians. This isn't a "Christian thread," Sarah. It's a "stir the shit" thread. And that's fine, just so long as we're clear about what's going on here. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb -

I prefer pagan. Given that our cultural understanding of the antichrist is "bad," it would seem intended to insult. Given that the dictionary says it means "an enemy of Christ," it would probably be overkill for most of us pagans. Me, I just think you're trying to start another neverending thread. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb -
[replyNow, if there was a chance... I might consider doing something... Maybe if you did something, there would be a chance. I'm planning to auction briguy off one of these days; maybe I'll auction you off too. I'd put you both on ebay but I'm pretty sure it's illegal to sell people. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

How many times have you been asked your measurements?

LOL...I could probably be your mother. Not yet, Andrea. Not quite yet. Give it another 7 or 8 years, though, and you're going to be look at the 25 year olds and wondering what the hell happened. At 40, you're still prime boy toy material. Don't waste it. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb -

Apparently there are no such PMs, but plenty of frustrated English majors. Sorry I hijacked your thread, Sam, but I think it was doomed as soon as poor Jaap made that post. Yes, but it's darn good entertainment...and it's also what he does best. He just forgot he's not in the Bonfire anymore. RhondaLea replied to pacncathyjr's topic in The Bonfire
One guy mailed me a tape measure....actually two tape measures. It was really a joke that arose from a newsgroup post wherein I was being asked that question by a bunch of people men. Another guy had me measure myself from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet and all points in between. It wasn't for clothing, not exactly, but you don't really want to know what I was being measured for. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
