You're very welcome. A change is as good as a rest. I spend my working life surrounded by smart people, so it's refreshing to come to SC and read what rushmc, gravitymaster and regulator have to say. And we enjoy the view from the Ivory Tower. You hang around children all day don't you? No. They are all adults Maybe you should have tried college - you might have learned something. Maybe you should have tried business. You might have accomplished something. I love hanging with adults every day in the real world and then coming here to listen to academic hypotheticals from people with little knowledge or experience outside the Ivory Tower. I especially like watching some make stupid comments and proposals that are not based on reality and then become cryptic when they are called on their dumb comments. Using tactics such as "I already answered that" when they haven't. Ah, but I HAD already answered that, many times, as a simple search will prove. See, for example, my post (one among many) on Dec 23, 2012, at 8:11 AM in reply to beowulf. You should do your homework better. Let the weaseling begin....

Actually road carnage HAS been reduced significantly due to stricter vehicle safety laws. Yes but we can do better. Lets mandate a redesign of brakes. This can be accomplished for just an additional $5000 per vehicle. I think it's worth it if it saves just one life.

Titling guns will have as much effect on crime as titling cars has had on auto theft.
-
What you are proposing would require a FFL dealer to get involved in every transaction for a fee. How would a poor person be able to pay these fees? Or would you suggest the government pay it for them. Poor people have a greater need for a cheap weapon than someone better off financially.

Some local police will refuse to confiscate guns
Gravitymaster replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
These are great ways to bring millions of dollars into a community by providing projects worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. See, there you go interjecting reality into good intentions. $500,000 a year for a carpenters apprentice doesn't seem like too much. Oh, wait...that would make him rich and subject to a massive tax increase. -
Sounds more like you were at a Flea Market. I've never seen anyone selling anything at a gun show other than gun related merchandise. Perhaps it should be referred to as the Flea Market loophole?

So you don't mind being lied to? -
So you are claiming you saw unlicensed dealers selling guns? How did you know they weren't licensed? Sounds like someone claiming they saw Mexicans and therefore they must be illegal.
-
Kind of like when you give a relative your car. Only if I plan on driving that car on a public street. There are already laws in place if I want to go out in public with my gun.
-
How many gun shows have you actually been to where you observed this?
-
I never have bought a gun in my life, I do have a .308 savage, 20 gauge shotgun, and a revolver that my Grandfather gave me. After today, you might be considered a criminal until you register them.
-
Anytime someone buys a firearm from a NON-LICENSED DEALER at a gun show, or anywhere else, no background check. I've never been to a gun show where there was an unlicensed dealer. Calling it a Gun Show loophole is nothing but hyperbole the gun-o-phobes use to scare people.
-
You would be more successful calling it the Craigs List loophole as avoidance of background checks is only available when purchasing through a private party. This would mean that if your brother wanted to give you a gun, he would be required to take the gun to a licensed firearms dealer and have him process the sale for a fee and then the dealer would perform a background check on you. Then you would be required to register the firearm before taking possession.

Can you let us know when the 30 minutes is up, if there's a civil war I think I may call in sick tonight. A better strategy would be to buy a gun.

You mean like the way they laughed about "shovel ready jobs"? We will see how much laughing there is in a few months. -
False. Anytime a citizen purchases a gun from a dealer, he must submit to a background check. Gun shows are no exception.
-
I agree. I don't see much point in regulating clip size, or "assault weapons". I do believe the gunshow loophole should be closed though. Ian What gun show loophole?

And Obamas agenda will be shut down. Fair trade off. -

The Impeachment Papers have already been drawn up. -
What was your solution again? You know, the one that doesn't violate the Constitution or BOR? I must have missed it.
-
I like gun threads. If you find them obnoxious, then I would suggest not reading them.

Supreme Court to hear alleged OBAMA forgeries
Gravitymaster replied to OHCHUTE's topic in Speakers Corner
It all makes sense now. Roberts found Obamacare to be legal because he knew Obama was not a US citizen and that fact would come to light after the election. He did it to keep Romney from being elected President and also knew that Biden would be implicated as well as Reid and Pelosi. Now Boehner has a clear pathway to the Presidency. Son of a Bitch...how did I not see that coming? Must be getting old. -
Burglars Hit Home of Gun Owner ID’d by Newspaper

That's exactly what I am talking about. Need a tissue?
