Good points. Something wrong when a CHILD can't do a tandem even with parental consent until they're 18, but can have an abortion without parental consent at 12.
-
Good post. You've actually presented the honest reason most lefties are against parental notification-Unfettered access to abortion.

I disagree. Children are children. They need to be raised as the parents see fit. Children are not always capable of acting in their own best interests. To have a law that prevents a parent from knowing his teenage daughter is pregnant is dispicable. How you figure the government would have to be involved in Parental Notification is beyond me. I would think it's between the parents and the doctor. Tell me Bill, how would you feel if it was your kid. Don't you think you have the right to know? Do you believe it's up to YOUR minor child to tell YOU if THEY feel you need to know? Or do you feel you NEED to know so you can take whatever steps YOU as a parent deem necessary to perhaps change the direction you see YOUR child going in? Don't have any kids do you Bill?
-
How about the right to raise ones children as one sees fit without government interference? Explain to me how the ACLU position on Parental Notification advances ones right to raise their children in the way the parents see fit. Tell me you don't think you have the right to know if your kids out there getting pregnant. I can't imagine any responsible parent agreeing with the ACLU on this. But hey, throw a few free condoms at them and tell them life's a party.

How about the Hate Crime Law? Doesn't it criminalize someones thoughts? Campaign Finance Reform does exactly this. Agreed

Bush Planned to Attack Iraq before 9/11?
Gravitymaster replied to freeflydrew's topic in The Bonfire
That sort of looks like someone was saying GAME OVER.. we won. Who was the someone that said game over? Don't act so dumb. The Bush apologists consistently redefine objectives and statements to fit what actually happened. Very Orwellian. Redefining Bush's statements to mean something different is not that hard, of course, because they're mostly unintelligible to begin with. And the Bush haters are so quick to criticize by reading all sorts of B.S. into everything he says. Much of what they say is simply a reflection on some of the most wacked out hate filled "Perspectives" I've ever seen. Talk about Orwellian. "Because some pigs are more equal than others" -
I can think of no better example of the ACLU being over the top than the Parental Notification Law. I wonder how many of those who support the ACLU on this position are parents?

Why would it make any difference to Rush? He didn't ask them to get involved and he is WELL represented by Roy Black.

Your skill at doublethink is strikingly Orwellian. I am fascinated by your ability to simultaneously accuse liberals of fact twisting while attempting to suggest that George's victory announcement with accompanying "Mission Accomplished" banners was something other than a proclamation of victory. Or perhaps these accusations of lies and spin are evidence of mere psychological projection? Now doesn't your response directly contradict that little mantra you like to publish whenever you get frustrated? Or are you getting ready to publish it again? I assume that you're referring to this: I fail to see how I have contradicted myself, as I never called anyone a typical anyone. Rather, I suggested that it was in fact you (read: Gravitymaster) spinning the truth while accusing others of doing so. I can only read this diversionary tactic on your part as an attempt to do the same. Haven't you contradicted yourself by first claiming that liberals distort the truth, then accusing me of making a statement that I never made? For your assertation to have any validity, you would have to prove my statements were incorrect, which of course you can't do because it's only a difference ion opinion. Post that little angry rant about how hypocritical conservatives on this forum are. That way we can all see if you aren't the hypocrit. You know which one I'm talking about I'm sure. Never mind, I found part of it. There we go. Isn't this what you said 2 weeks ago?? Isn't this what you JUST did? Doesn't that make you a hypocrite? -

Why haven't GWB supporters made a big stink about this yet?

I agree. Most of the firestorm regarding the Chicks comments came from their fans. The press ginned up the rhetoric but in truth were only reporting the fans reactions. -

Yep and even though it may help you feel better about your agenda by twisting the meaning of "Mission Accomplished" you are simply WRONG. Mission Accomplished was a comment on the work done by the troops on that particular ship. Not a comment on the war. If Bush had congratulated the troops who found SH with the same comment, would you interpet it the same way? I doubt it. -

Then I'd suggest you go back and reread what I said. I was summerizing what you were saying, not making my own statement. If you have trouble following what was being said, PM me and I will try to simplify it for you. -

Seems to me he has a plan. Elections are next June, we are training Iraqi Army and Iraqi Police. Don't understand why you say there's no plan. Interesting that way more soldiers get killed in minor combat than in major combat. Perhaps next he will declare Iraq a limited police action? I doubt the ability or willingness to understand what's said or meant will have much effect on what GWB does in the future. -

QuoteYeah, and in the mean time Dubya.s bringing oasama bin ladin to justice and making him pay for 9/11. Oh wait, I almost forgot, screw oasama there's no oil in Affganastan, sorry my bad. How many troops have died since the end of major combat?*** Yep gotta love the persistance of the left. Nothing to run on in the upcoming elections except "well, he hasn't found OBL yet." I predict OBL will be in custody before the elections. Economies looking good since GWB got rid of that loser O'Neill. SH in custody. Tax cuts are working. Democratic Prez. candidates are going at each other like a couple of poosies. Elections in Iraq in June. New Space Program. Yep, gonna be fun watching the Libs get a thumping AGAIN. When will you guys EVER learn? -

On a side note, I find it laughable that the lefties criticized Bush for not having a plan in place before going into Iraq and now we find out they had been working on it even before Sept 11. Guess there's no pleasing those who are quick to criticize without any facts. GWB never declared victory. He only declared an end to "MAJOR COMBAT", An end to "MAJOR COMBAT", An end to "MAJOR COMBAT". That means we had SH on the run, tanks weren't rolling as before, war planes eased up with the bombings. An End To MAJOR Combat. See thats why you lefties crack me up so much. First you twist what he says, then after you do that, you claim he doesn't know what he's doing. -

The Pentagon has contingency plans to attack almost everywhere, even our allies. That is totally different from an administration having political aims to invade a sovereign nation. *** If politics were the sole motive, why didn't GWB wait until now to invade. I find your argument on this kind of weak although I'm glad we agree on the contingency plans. He didn't invade "now", he invaded 10 months ago. Your comment is naive anyway. My response may seem naive to you because you failed to read and comprehend it. I never said GWB invaded "NOW",read my response and try again. If you get it right this time, you get your choice of Teddy Bears. -

*** I don't have so much a problem with the press's accuracy in reporting what O'Neill said in the book. I do question Oneill's motives and his access to information. O'Neill was the Treasury Secretary who was fired because his economic policies weren't working. I remember the lefties screaming for GWB to do something about the economy and calling for O'Neill's resignation. Now they are so quick to believe a humiliated former Treasury Sec. with an ax to grind had some kind of unlimited access to discussions regarding national security and foreign policy. There's a difference between being ineffective and being a liar. *** I disagree. Many people lie because they ARE ineffective and are trying to obfuscate their deficiencies. Ever worked outside of Academia? -

I did read that they have recently found 36 chemical rounds that were left over from the Iran-Iraq war. Not what I would describe as a threat to the UK or international security.*** How many more would they have to find for you to consider it a threat? 50, 65, 75, 80, 100,??? Add this to the missles found that were capable of reaching Israel, Iran, Egypt, Saudi Arabia etc.. Oh, sorry I forgot. They are just Arabs and Jews. They don't count as being International Security concerns. -

These plans have probably existed for over 15 years as do plans exist for other countries. Remember during the Clinton Administration, SH was firing missles at U.S. planes in the No-Fly Zone set up after the 1st Gulf War. On a side note, I find it laughable that the lefties criticized Bush for not having a plan in place before going into Iraq and now we find out they had been working on it even before Sept 11.
