okay you're looking at wind effects against the direction of travel, over a time period, assuming straight line travel. What you're saying is that if the wind was against the wind of travel only, it wasn't that strong. But we know it was strong, so it must not have been against the direction of travel. We also know it must not have been with the direction of travel. Is that right? The problem with a canopy deployment to Tena Bar is that it makes no sense that the money would be found 9 years later, in that case? The more likely cases seem to be: Cooper in the Columbia, money displaced by dredge somehow. Or Cooper deploys elsewhere, and plants money at Tena Bar. Here's a weird thing: Jerry is convinced Cooper is dead. Why is Jerry so fixated on making him dead in the Washougal? Why isn't jumping into the Columbia just as good? I mean, if you want Cooper to be a bozo, he's a bozo either way. Sluggo asked Himmelsbach, the same questions about how H. a pilot, could conceive of 305 being so far off. The answer was that they were given free rein to fly whereever they liked. (H. didn't appear to be aware or had ever seen radar data...so it makes sense to dismiss H. as no more insightful as Jo Blow on the street). I don't think H. addressed the issue of correlating random flight paths to the transcripts, or to the issue of avoiding Mt St. Helens and other obstacles. How come people say I'm looking for sinister when I'm just asking questions? How come no one wants to talk about Zazi? What's important about having him jump in the woods? Himmelsbach likes him in the woods. I think that's why. Georger's random calcs for landing in the water assume there's nothing that attracts Cooper to one spot over another. The lights of Portland and Vancouver are an obvious attractor. Being attracted to those lights, dramatically increases the probability of landing in the water. Also note the plane didn't take the shortest path over the Columbia. It's curving around PDX lengthened the amount of time spent near the Columbia. It's interesting to think that the FBI could pursue their dead Cooper investigation better. if they just put together "stuff" that said most likely Cooper landed in the Columbia. Why don't they do that?

http://www.weather.com/maps/activity/aviation/us10000footwindsaloft_large.html attached also. you can see ~40 knot (blue) winds around PDX right now (at 10k feet) drops below ~30 knot at 5000 ft. http://www.weather.com/maps/activity/aviation/us5000footwindsaloft_large.html

Farflung said "How far can one reasonably drift under a military canopy from 10 thousand feet? 10 miles? 15 miles? The average skydiver would surely give me a quick education on jump dynamics and the many basic laws of physics which one would have to violate. The same holds true for pilots, what would it take to oops....WE are 20 miles east of course, ATC and RADAR failed to catch this and issue vectors, NONE of the crew noticed the RMI swinging through 30 then 40 degrees while we parallel an airway at 10,000 feet heading for Mt. St. Helens!!" Re: canopy drift. I went thru an estimate based on C-9 canopy and SE winds near Portland a long time back. I used a wind rose showing 10 years of historical data on wind, along with surface wind conditions from 11/24/71 for that. I was trying to put a canopy drift near Tena Bar, assuming jump from the flight path near PDX. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3385551;search_string=%26quot%3Bcanopy%20drift%26quot%3B;#3385551 (edit) I just noticed the attached jpg in that post was before we got the detailed flight path jpg. I agree with you on the "watch out for Mt. St. Helens" problem. I quoted a paper here which recently compared radar-predicted locations, with GPS locations (since planes now have GPS transponders). The paper gave bounds and means for errors in locations. I tried to get a good estimate for the radar gear in place at Seattle ARTCC in 1971. I posted a lot on that. I did suggest that the error was greater than the +- 0.5 nm the FBI 1972 search map paper quoted. I suggested maybe the radar location was +-1nm. I'm still not sure what you're suggesting. We don't know when Cooper jumped. We have a flight path, with radar ticks of unknown source, and at least one transcription error. We don't have a good indication of the +- error of the radar ticks. (edit) I also argued that the "+-1 minute communication time tolerance" is debatable (in the NWA->FBI jump zone prediction) http://n467us.com/Photo%20Evidence_files/image126.jpg No one is disagreeing with that. So what's the new information? (edit) re descent rates. 1500 ft/min has been quoted as estimate. here I threw out 1200 ft/min http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3385710;search_string=1200%20ft%2Fmin;#3385710 I thought there were some accounts from the "old days" of possibly slightly slower...I think we went thru all this. We debated where the C-9 had any mods that would affect forward speed. Apparently not. So wind aloft was the unknown. Ckret posted data, but unreadable and probably wrong area. No agreement on anything other than surface winds at PDX on 11/24/71. I did post some stuff on currrent winds aloft (10,000') at PDX on 11/24/08 I believe, as an example. The latest online stuff gives you that. Ckret posted this wx: "The weather: Ceiling of 5,000 feet, broken clouds at 3,500, scattered clouds at 1,500. Winds of 12 to 14 knots, light rain showers." Here's KPDX weather (hourly for last 24 hours) http://flightaware.com/live/airport/KPDX/wx (edit) note that Jerry's Washougal theory is more constraining. No canopy drift. So Cooper has to drop from plane into Washougal. (edit) Farflung: I have the impression you think people here are behind any of the FBI statements or the Nat Geo stuff. As far as I know, the consensus is all that is total B.S.

here's another interesting "body not found" case I'm not sure of the overall long-term stats for the Columbia Oct 11, 1972 Spokane Daily Chronicle Portland, OR Searchers yesterday recovered the fuselage of a light plane which crashed Oct 4 into the Columbia river [ed. the one I reported before was a different one]. It was found a mile south of the mouth of the Williamette River and about 75 yards downstream from where the plane apparently crashed, said Sg. Donald McNamara of the Multnomah County sheriff's river patrol. McNamara said the search for the body of the pilot of the rented plane, 53-year old Dr. J. Maxson Reeves, would continue. Other parts of the plane and it's log book were found shortly after the crash. Reeves was vice president and dean of the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma. http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=ALMSAAAAIBAJ&sjid=mfgDAAAAIBAJ&pg=4212,3399348&dq=body+columbia-river I didn't find any subsequent reports of the body being found. (edit) This report from Oct 5, 1972 sounds like the first report of the plane crash. Farflung said "if 305 were truly 23 DME south of PDX at 8:22, they would have been over Battle Ground TACAN at 8:11 (local) when the oscillations were detected by the crew." Are you assuming a straight line flight path when you estimate distances? The flight path map has a curving path. Looking at the southern portion of the flight path, we only have radar ticks marked to 20:18, but you can count them after that to see where the 20:22 location is. It looks like maybe east of Tualatin or Wilsonville. http://n467us.com/Data%20Files/Analysis%20of%201%20min%20Error%20South%201971.jpg I'm not sure what you're in disagreement about. Or: are you showing that the transcripts have data that says Jerry's Washougal visits are more about a "friend" or donuts?
-
I must be missing something FarAfield reported: "Overhead Battle Ground TACAN occurred at 8:14 plus or minus 1 min. according to the crew transcripts. Tracking backwards in time 3 mins. to the report of oscillations places the aircraft 8 to 9 nautical miles north of Battle Ground TACAN. " If I look at the flight path, http://n467us.com/Data%20Files/Analysis%20of%201%20min%20Error%20Central%201971.jpg that's what it shows. And that's uncompensated for a one-minute error (which would shift times down) FarField, have you analyzed the flight path maps at Sluggo's site? I guess I'm wondering what the issue is you're going after? There might be something, but I can't see it.
-
Farflung said: "It is also 'documented' in the crew transcripts that Flight 305 at 8:22 (local) was "23 DME S PDX at 10,000'." By checking the AFD you will notice the radials of 131 through 230, for all altitudes and distances for the VOR/DME named PDX is unusable. Although a small error (9 nautical miles), if 305 were truly 23 DME south of PDX at 8:22, they would have been over Battle Ground TACAN at 8:11 (local) when the oscillations were detected by the crew. " Yes, there is additional stuff in the transcripts that can be used to support (or not) any proposed flight path, to some degree. That's exactly why Jerry will never draw a flight path. Once he does, there is other information available that can be used to discount it. So he does what Jo does: Imply, but provide no data. I think there's nothing in the transcripts that shows the flight path we have to be wrong. Do you agree? With respect to where they were at 8:11...you're aware of the "minute error" issue in the flight path we have? So yeah, I expect even if we focused on 8:11, it's unclear where on the flight path they were. (within some precision). I'm not sure where you're going with this. Are you just pointing out that Cooper could have jumped in a broad region along the flight path as we know it? I think we all agree on that...other than Jerry. (edit) Georger, you mentioned correlated events. All these posts are correlated to the recent arrest of Zazi by Agent Garrett Gumbinner. Agent Gumbinner, is the same agent who interviewed the guy who shipped himself in a box on an airplane in 2003, and got charged with being a stowaway. "Mr. McKinley charged what he said was a $668.70 United Parcel Service shipping bill to this company, he told investigators." "One of the two friends Mr. McKinley mentions brought him a wooden crate measuring 42-by-36-by-15 inches. "I thought it was big enough for me to fit in," Mr. McKinley wrote." http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/982412/posts http://www.usatoday.com/travel/news/2003/09/15-stowaway-story.htm

Farflung: Why do you need to make calculations or guesses about the radar accuracy in 1971? I thought the info from 1971 on positional accuracy is documented. If they weren't sure how exact a plane position was, relative to radar indication, how could they come up with rules for required separation to avoid accidents, or running into stuff, like mountains. (edit) p.s. There is nothing to say 20:11 has any accuracy associated with it. What makes you think 20:11 has anything to do with when Cooper jumped?

Attached is the arrest warrant for the bearded one. We should all consider the operation compromised, as he may reveal details of the Flight 305 operation. The offense is briefly described as follows: "Making a False Statement in a Matter Involving International and Domestic Terrorism in violation of 18 USC Section 1001 (a)(2)." Because of my knowledge of such laws, I have been careful to only post stuff relating to flight 305 that is 100% true. Others may consider the need to start destroying disk drives. (edit) 377, read the whole thing. Tell me what you think. (edit) I have discovered a tighter connection to Flight 305. In the attached arrest warrant, Agent Garrett Gumbinner, purposely misspells Zazi's first name. This is a known tactic in government operations, as I showed with the ARTCC chief. Attached snip showing.

I want to talk about HTMD, and fuel-air explosives. What does it take to get an FBI interview nowadays? I've rented big trucks. No one interviews me. I'm on a thread working thru the possibilities for hijacking...and what do I get...nada. Hey I was thinking about IED potential on a plane. The presence of an O2 tank in the overhead compartment, plus a flare, raises possibilites. Look at this hole an O2 tank blew in the side of a Qantas jet. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/travelnews/2644048/Exploding-oxygen-bottle-caused-hole-in-Qantas-jet.html What if you took the O2 bottle, opened it up and jammed it down the toilet, so all the O2 is in a confined area. Then tossed your lit flare in. (edit) This supposed Zazi stuff doesn't add up. Look at this: "The officials said text messages sent by Zazi suggest the plot was nearing the attack phase. One message said the "wedding cake is ready," which authorities say may have been code to indicate the attack was ready. Raids in New York led to the discovery of 14 new backpacks. The New York Daily News reported Saturday that seven New York men with ties to Zazi had unsuccessfully attempted to rent a large rental truck on Sept. 10, the day before Zazi arrived from Denver. " We're supposed to think that they were going to rent a big truck for a big bomb, and at the same time use 12 backpacks to deliver bombs....and they found them renting the truck and somehow 12 backpacks, but no sign of any explosive materials? How does that make sense? They've arrested him tonight. The charges are expected to be lieing to FBI agents." What to say? The wedding cake is ready.

Jo offered "This continued verbal rudeness has become the norm recently." I think humans have never really liked each other, when you start talking about millions of people? Doesn't history tell us that?. The thing is, we used to be well separated, kind of like animals in a zoo. Not so much any more. Jo. I was wondering about this recent burst of breathless reports about the FBI and supposed "evidence" they have on Najibbullah Zazi. It's hard to tell if there's anything, or whether it's just FBI run amok. But I'm amazed how breathless the references to hydrogen peroxide based explosives is...It's like people are out of touch with how many people are mixing chemicals worldwide and blowing stuff up and bragging about it. Check out these youtube vids. These are all people playing with the stuff Zazi is accused of having something on his computer about, but no actual "stuff". These guys all have "stuff" And now everyone reading this post has it on their computer like Zazi. Yes! thanks for the permission.

1) If you allow Washougal, it seems like you open up any flight path as reasonable. (because Jerry doesn't seem to have constrained the flight path beyond "somewhere around V-23") 2) I can pick a flight path farther west closer to Tena Bar, I think, and still met Jerry's criteria? (which I'm not sure are, and how they were derived) 3) I can have Cooper easily land in the Columbia (actually even with the current flight path) 4) Dredging can displace the money after N years I can't understand, how, if someone says "Ignore the flight path"...the next step in thought is "He must have landed in the Washougal". It doesn't make sense. It borders on insane, to me? It's like something Himmelsbach would come up with. There must be other data steering Jerry to the Washougal. A girlfriend? Free Coffee? Donuts? ???

caveat: unless your name is Jo. Then it's used for threat potential. Yahoo!

I have the most posts to the DZ.com thread on Cooper. Even skyjack71 can't take that away from me. I mention it to people at Starbucks. So far, no free coffee. Jerry: So your theory is that the money in a bag travelled down the Washougal, but the body and the rig stayed behind around the Washougal? I doubt you're saying the money travelled without the bag? Why did the bag and money move, but not the body and rig? I guess I can't understand the rationale that would lead you to do a ground search in the area you're talking about, regardless of the flight path question.

oh drat. You mean there's no government conspiracy? Actually in looking at it more, I think it is an "s"...i misread it first time. Stand Down. No Go..The operation is No Go! Mistake! No Go! I was mostly curious if that guy was still alive. I've not been able to find him though. Led to me finding the second guy's claims which were interesting. He'd be interesting to talk to also, if still alive. (edit) Nope. Apparently Dawson died before 1989 sometime...dead men tell no tales http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=fjkQAAAAIBAJ&sjid=WY8DAAAAIBAJ&pg=5404,1168715&dq=dan-dawson+state+representative+washington

I didn't bother interviewing Dawson about the flight path, because I knew he would lie. Some important new stuff from this editor who talked to Dan. Ellensburg Daily Record Mar 3, 1980 http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=860&dat=19800303&id=YTAQAAAAIBAJ&sjid=lo8DAAAAIBAJ&pg=5389,3778824 (attached) Notice that Dan says he was "ordered". Probably came from the Oval Office. Or associates of Duane. "In 1971, [Dan] Dawson was an Air Force major and senior director at 25th NORAD headquarters at McChord Field. He was the one ordered to develop an operational plan to deal with the Cooper caper. "This was the first situation where the hijacker was to bail out with his goodies so we had no plan at the time to deal with that." Dan apparently wanted to supply Cooper with parachutes with "chaff".... also "Dawson also briefed the pilots of two F-106 fighter planes and scrambled them - they were to hug in close to the plane on which Coooper was a passenger. Unfortunately, the national command for NORAD vetoed both orders..."

I have been authorized by House subcommittee to release the following information. I have outlined the importance of Seattle ARTCC (Air Route Traffic Control Center) before, with their long range radar capabilities. Their transcript is on page 68 thru 74 of the Carr-released transcripts. I have mentioned how the various "positions" reported were likely operators in front of radio and likely radar scopes. The positions: SEA R2 SEA R5 SEA R6 SEA R10 The new information is that the Chief of Seattle ARTCC had his name disguised. In the transcript, (attached page), you can see that he's named as "Gerald H. Oaterkamp" However, if you analyze his signature, which has an "a" in Gerald, and an "a" in "kamp"...those a's are not the same as the supposed "a" in "Oater" Looking at his signature, his name is "Osterkamp". So the question is: "Why was Osterkamp's name obfuscated? Why did Osterkamp agree to the obfuscation? Was he given an offer he couldn't refuse?" Gerald H. Osterkamp held the key to the flight path and why it was covered up. You can review the attached, or the original transcript, to see that I'm correct. Also, even though the typewriter print is far from perfect, it is clear that someone typed "Oaterkamp", in a successful attempt to keep journalists from the source of the truth. I don't know if Osterkamp was assassinated. There is no evidence to prove he wasn't. I don't know if Duane was involved, although supposedly Duane was a crack shot, even without glasses. (edit) The probable assassination took place this year in Florida, May 17, 2009

First off, those Russians screwed me royally. They knew they had a plan with Obama to stop missile deployments in the works, and market demand was going to disappear, leading to excess capacity in manufacturing. http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-russia-missiles20-2009sep20,0,7351646.story I could have gotten half off, if I had known. Damn, I knew we needed an economist there when the vodka started flowing. 2nd: in terms of what data the FBI had or didn't have. You can decide based on their actions. There are many reports of where they searched or flew planes to "search the flight path". Himmelsbach recounts flyovers of the "flight path" with some amount of leeway on either side (he mentions a flight with 3 planes) So: if they had radar, and it pointed to what Jerry says, they would have flown over the Washougal. Now you could argue, the radar data came in "late" for some reason...i.e. needed significant post-processing. That's a stretch. Anything that was available, should have been available pretty quickly. Any washougal theory, that allows for accurate flight path data, has to come up with a reason why they didn't do washougal flyovers in the searches afterwards? If the theory instead is: The radar data is just wrong...then that's interesting. (edit) how come no one responded to my trivia question about warning horn in the cockpit, for flaps = 30 and state of the landing gear? (or 10,000 ft pressure) for 727 in 1971? Was the answer obvious, or just non-interesting?
-
377, you almost got it right. http://www.makeyev.ru/main/invcoop/ "You are welcome to make use of SRC services on the basis of creative and mutually beneficial cooperation." So I’m drinking vodka with Vladimir Degtyar at the the Makeyev State Rocket Centre. And telling him how I loved the scene in Dr. Strangelove where Major Kong rides the bomb. I say I know a guy, 377, who’s practicing with O2 and could recreate it if Vladimir let us borrow a bomber. For icing I throw in “Plus I can pay for it with South African gold.” Vladmir laughs and says that’s nothing. He says ‘You bring your American, and he can trying riding a rocket out of the back of a 727”. I spew my vodka “What???” generating a fireball when the candle on the table lights it. Vladmir continues “Your CIA. We make for them a ICBM they can fire out the back of a 727…You know it?” http://www.makeyev.ru/rocspace/nwcoscmp/ I mutter “oh yeah, yeah, that one.. sure that’ll work.” And try to change the conversation back to the old days and Flight 305. Well to make a long story short, I wake up with a headache, and find I’ve bought a Volna. And I couldn’t back off on my B.S. so 377, you have a date for a very HAHO rocket jump. They don’t speak English too well, but you’ll be okay. So, back in the US, we drive 3000 miles on I-80 towing the Volna (attached pic) behind a Ford Super Duty. We get pulled over in Indiana for going over the 55mph trailer towing limit. The officer asked what we’re towing. We said "It's a submarine launched rocket based on the RSM-50, capable of launching payloads into near earth orbits. We just bought it from some Russians". He says “Commercial or private?” I say “Private” He said "Well, keep it under 55." As we pulled away I yelled “Damn that Obama, he’s making us all socialists with his health care program”.

So I'm talking to the Nat Geo guys, and they're pressing me. "So, you found Cooper's room." I look at them. "It was what, an old apartment?" "Not sure", I say. "Well, what was in it." "Nothing." "What do you mean, nothing? Nothing has nothing. There had to be something." I shrug my shoulders. A streetlight flickered above the sidewalk in Old Town. I could see the drawbridge towers over on I-5. I really wanted to see the drawbridge go up and down again. Why green? There's enough green here. Why paint more? "There was nothing. I took pics though. Fifty for all of them." Smiles. Things were going to be good again. It'd be better with Roman though. It always was. (attached) FSN 6505-515-1584

Jo said "Now for a serious moment - Cooper could have had a lighter for the very reasons I stated about the bomb and lighting a match with one hand." True story. Guy walked into a bar. Came right up in my face. and did this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSQHP5NmisM I said "Are you Cooper?" He said "FLIC off!" I said "Are you Cooper?" He said "The dog knew." I said "Are you Cooper?" He said "In space, you can't smoke Raleighs." That's how I found out. He told me. (edit) I like articles that turn the everyday into something bizarre. Here's a good one. "Learning to Smoke" (when you're 46) http://www.esquire.com/features/learning-to-smoke-0308 "This is serious stuff. And you're not taking it seriously." Yes. Exactly.

I never realized that the movie scene where Major Kong straddles the bomb on the way out of the airplane, actually had a real life event in 1958 like that. (the movie was 1964) What I'm thinking is maybe Cooper was a bombardier from an Air Force plane that carried nuclear weapons, in the late 50's? Specifically Kukla. Why would he stay out of country? "Kukla now resides in Thailand and when visiting the states stays on the West Coast in a hotel. He does not respond to questions for an interview." Also, the name of the operation: "Operation Snow Flurry" Here's the evidence: (note the reference to oxygen.) "As the person responsible for the bomb, Kukla was instructed by the pilot to go back there and figure out what is wrong. Because the bomb bay compartment is not pressurized the entire plane had to be depressurized and the whole crew had to go on oxygen. The space in the plane where the bomb is stored is very tight. In fact, it was so small a space Kukla could not wear a parachute back there. The 7,600 pound bomb with dimensions of 10 feet, 8 inches long and 61 inches in diameter was just about as large as the inside of the B-47E. Kukla had to blindly reach up and try to re-insert the pin. Now remember, this place is cramped, Kukla can't even see what he is doing and he is hauling around an oxygen tank. Turns out that instead of the pin Kukla grabs the emergency-release lever. The bomb drops onto the bomb bay doors with Kukla on top of the bomb. The co-pilot would later remark, "I wouldn't even try to imagine what he was feeling in those seconds." With the combined weight of Kukla and the bomb, the doors give way and the bomb and Kukla begin to drop. Having better luck now Kukla manages to grab onto something and stop his fall towards Earth. After, pulling himself back into the plane Kukla notifies the pilot of what has transpired. As per Air Force regulations, the pilot has a special code to transmit back to base in this case of an accidental drop. Because the procedure had never been used the operations center at Hunter Air Force Base did not recognize the coded transmission. As a final resort the pilot was forced to radio into Florence airport, six miles from Mars Bluff, and ask them to telephone Hunter and notify them that Aircraft 35-1876A had lost a "device". Meanwhile, on the ground at the Gregg Family property. The bomb was impacting. The explosion was not a full nuclear explosion. Thankfully, Air Force policy is such that at peacetime, the fissionable nuclear core of the weapon is to be stored elsewhere in the aircraft, in what is called a "birdcage". The explosion injured all five members of the Walter Gregg family and destroyed practically everything standing. Mrs. Gregg was sewing on the front porch; her son and husband were in the tool shed. The two Gregg girls were 65 feet from where the bomb struck, playing with their cousin Ella Davis at the playhouse their father had constructed for them. Ella was to receive 31 stitches and was the only one who had to stay overnight at the Florence hospital. That evening at the hospital was when Walter Gregg learned that the explosion was from an Air Force bomb." more detail: http://historyonair.com/?page_id=6&id=1 also: http://www.rense.com/general45/Manrec.htm All mentions of Kukla's cigarette lighter apparently have been suppressed.

Jo- I said: "when I showed her pictures of typical SOG engraved lighters.....she yelled "OMG...Cooper was Duane"" Then you told the story of the FLIC license plate in Colorado. Yes, that's how Tina knew Cooper was Duane. She knew Duane got that vanity plate, because of the lighter episode on the flight and the double reference to the insurance company he worked for. One of the profiles created by the Beowulf cluster that analyzes Cooper said "Cooper is likely to purchase vanity plates containing the initials of the company he works for, which is likely an insurance company". Jerry Thomas also knew the FLIC story. Which is why he accidently mentioned that Cooper probably had a lighter. It was not a Bic. It was a Zippo. Snowmman Industries is selling authorized replicas of the Cooper/Weber lighter on ebay. Jo: your memories of lighters has been repressed. This is a good verification that lighters are the key element that connects Duane as Cooper. That, and Jerry's reference.
