They are not new. been around for at least a decade. Very popular now that cheap radios can do channel mixing. Zagi's were one of the originators but down at the cliffs aroud southern california you'll find a vast mix of flyers customizing and fabing their own, often for word of mouth small batch distribution. They are very popular at Perris. There is a designer that works nearby. Sometimes the boyz will do nite launches with lite sticks attached over the party. There are electrics also for more airtime. If I have too I can put my 135 in my container sized for a 190 now, though its very squishy. Although when I was new to packing it took me a long time to get my slick brand new PD 170 into the same container. How good are you at packing? How new is your canopy ( PD zp or gelvenor fabric ). Since you are very tall its going to be hard to get a container that fits you off the shelf. Once you get a good fit you will most likely hang onto it for a while. To get the most outta your money you may want a first used main and a custom container sized one size smaller. But Arthur even after you get your own rig and can spend more money on jumps, will you be able to jump enough to stay current and get the experience for a downsize in the near future? Some people downsize pretty soon, some downsize in gradual steps spaced over time in the sport and some people kick ass and groove in a wingloading pretty close to 1.1 or 1.2 for many years, all for different reasons. What do you want to do with your gear and which reason will be yours. Glen

You cant go just by size you have to factor in wing loading and the non-collapse pc size. If a big fat bastard just off student status is on a 190 but @ a higher wing load than a 1:1 he may very well need the killable PC. Or in a case like my first container being an old wonderhog with a noncollapsable 36" pc making my spectre flare like a worn out lightning. At first I went with everybodys info that at my loading it wasn't needed, everyone wanted to save me my money. But my landings were at best 50% and ugly. After just getting a properly sized collapsable PC, I expected at best a slight improvement. The change was dramatic and not just in my head wishful thinking I was damn near swoopin. I was rewarded with plenty of flare plus, First one with the new PC sent me back up. Something the old PC never allowed. landings were just peachie. Not bad for a 100 bucks, well worth it. Less drag is less drag, will it be noticed at a give wing size? Dunnow. Noticed at above average wing loads or when other factors are far from what is typical of modern gear? You bet! Glen.
