Check out temperature lapse rate. Standard is: Subtract 3.6 degrees F (2 degrees C) for every 1,000 feet you go up in altitude. However, due to thermal inversions, weather patterns, etc... it's not always gonna be exact. So, if your surface temp is....let's say 70. You climb from Sea Level pressure to 10,000 feet above ground. 3.6 x 10 = 36 - 70 = 34 F I have seen 90F on the ground and 38F going up to 10K. So, it's definitely not always gonna be standard.

I've dropped many loads of jumpers into a nudist camp. (that count?!). During one demo, they all land. Performing on ground crew was one jumpers wife. She too.....was naked. Expression on the jumpers face I hear was.....priceless.

Sorry for your loss, but he's in the land of blue skies eternally! I'm the same way about keeping e-mails and not deleting outta my phone. One of my best buds of all time drowned last weekend, we buried him Thursday. His name was Tommy, the best friend anyone could ever hope of having... Blue skies to your Jack and Tommy!!

Sorry for your situation. But thanks for the story! Makes waking up this morning, realizing that I'm in my 40's, and well.....just a little sweeter this morning. btw, it happened to me too. Joined the service @ 17, left home, first 2 yrs overseas, came back......everybody in same ole shit, then I spent 20 more yrs in. Traveled the world! Wish I could go back in right now, but they don't take us "retiree's" back....

Guess it could happen on either a seated or a poised exit......... I had a TI throw his droque over my tail after a poised exit......broke spar in tail, bent the elevator. Not fun landing. Always issues with the TI scraping the door while out on the step..... -

That is one thing that sucks. They still get full pay. Plus pay raise is a swear word around here. I know a guy who has worked here for 10 years and he just got his first pay raise in almost 8. But, that's EMS. I love my job and that's what counts.

I like Bigway's ideas better than mine....but... you could.... Join the Air Force, (almost immediate cash flow), they may forgive student loans (talk to your recruiter), go into something medical (I think that's what you like) and travel the world. You may or may not receive an assignment in the south (if it's that important to stay close to family this is probably not an option then). Matter of fact, not much control over assignments. But, the potential is to a) see some of the world b) maybe see some desert conditions c) make money to pay debts. Good luck!!
