  1. On Dasher, on Dancer, on Prancer ... on ENDEAVOUR! Even though it snowed last night, Santa hasn't changed his schedule ... but the Space Shuttle Endeavour will fly by Johnson Space Center today, circling over JSC between 11:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. while mounted on a modified Boeing 747 shuttle carrier aircraft. Although a stop at Ellington Field is NOT planned, the Endeavour will fly by and be visible from Ellington Field and the Sonny Carter Training Facility before passing over JSC. 12/11/08
  2. Awesome getting your ratings, congrats!!! It's a hard road ain't it! Check the classifieds here and good luck with that first job!
  3. Don't believe everything you read...... It's "people" that may be responsible.....don't blame an entire state.

Yoshi, glad to hear things are well in your family life and I hope the flying works out for you and Silver State pays back everyone. Not sure if you remember me, but met you when you came for our altitude chamber course (I taught your Hypoxia class) at the NBL back a few years ago. Good luck with everything.........Buck
  5. Dayum! Hopefully they are paying you overtime???
  6. You mean "Gator Chow" ? The airline that killed a whole planeload of people because they ILLEGALLY loaded a pallet of expired oxygen canisters in the cargo hold ? That's them. Remember, it was a contractor (SabreTech) that pulled that stunt. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ValuJet_Flight_592 I'm glad you posted that because I was about to. Yep, if the contractor lies or places something on the aircraft w/o the pilots knowledge, no way can anyone blame the airline. The pilot on the ValuJet flight, she did an admirable job in trying to get that flight back to the airport. rip.
  7. yes repost.......and it's fake vid......
  8. Give me a landing strip and I'll shoot the approach.....! More than that, and I'll pull the gear up and fly the published missed.
  9. this might not be SWA pay, but check out some regionals pay! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RayMaswju1A
  10. A. Bonfire. B. Didn't you hear the "whoosh" above your head?
  11. It was midnight, I had dropped 4 jumpers outta a 182 in south Texas. Descending through 5,000 feet it sounded like a stick of dynamite went off in the plane. What was it? I took a birdstrike (or bat strike) on the windscreen with blood and guts trailing to the tail...... Believe it can happen, and not just during the day.........
  12. I did! And at the moment, I'm in Texas watching a few minutes of the election via the BBC World News!!
  13. My parents used to let me and my older brother stay home alone when we were 10 and 12, respectively. Dear God, tell her to stop being a helicopter parent and let that boy grow up some!!
  14. I don't think so. If you wanna make it out alive you typically don't want to kill yourself before getting rescued. yep, I agree. But I've been hustled pretty hard during some combat E&E training and we sometimes threw the rulebook out. Smart? ah no. But I was young and dumb.
  15. Not replying to anyone in particular, but it's almost like Bear is demonstrating (most times in direct contraindication to proper survival techniques) combat type escape and evasion manuevers???? Maybe that could explain rationale behind his technique? As for cutting away above the water, a definite no-no. Typically most everyone has trouble judging height above water. Bad idea.
  16. Ah, don't be so quick to judge. Lots of variables to throw in regarding the landing.
  17. Dinner????! Goldschlager shots, Hot wings, Pitcher after pitcher of Shiner Bock, Snozzberry shots........yep, that's dinner alright.
  18. Thought you bailed out of the AF? Or doing the Guard thing? Have fun, stay safe amigo.......
  19. Pretty wild man, pretty wild. I always wondered why they looked that way. How's the AF treating you up there? Or, how's that Academy jump program?
  20. So, my creatinine was "slightly" above normal (1.4 mgDL) on my AF Class 1 today. Gimme da scoop...! And I forgot to work out for the last 3 months....
  21. It awsome to parents take this much interest in thier kids future. My dad taught us common sense and good manners. Take your kids to homeless shelters and just help, out for an half a day. Show your kids that we are people no matter what. So when they are a little older they arent uncomfortable around the less fortunate. My kids always helped out at Xmas time at the shelter my dad ran. It also inspired tehm to work a little harder in school. My dad use to also create problems for us and then let us come up with ways to solve them, common sense scenarios. Quote Fully agree. And also try not to be a helicopter parent.
  22. Historically, I think they about hitting the average for mishaps. Seems the media covers it quickly these days, therefore making it seem that more incidents are happening. Single pilot, lot of night ops, and often times single engine.... Tough envelope to fly in....
  23. After reading another thread concerning NTSB involvement in jump operations and subsequent findings of needing better pilot training with regards to wt/bal, fuel management.....etc....etc.. it quite possibly looks like the pilot has a lot of the fucking responsibility without commensurate pay. I back you fully on stating pilots require more pay. , but you wanna put my ticket on the line...then pay the appropriate rate.........cheers.
