Oh crap, your not Muenkel?!! edit: Seriously, I think modern engines can adapt easily to a lower octane. Depends on climate and load conditions on the engine but it really shouldn't hurt the performance that bad. Under hot conditions you could have pinging, but if that occurs, just add higher octane.......
-
Maybe we can have one of our resident experts speak, er write on octane v. performance...pros/cons..etc....
-
I wonder if you can run it with lower octane? What you driving? These days the computers can handle it with ease.....
-
Now, don't be going back over and bumping uglies with her, and wind up with one in the oven for 9. Run, run fast, run far away and don't look back!!
-
last time I filled up my bike it cost $18.50 for 4.5 gallons of 91 octane. At 45 miles per gallon that's $.09 per mile. Can you use 87 octane? I run it all day in mine. Yamaha FZ1.....per the owners manual.

I'm sorry I wasn't clear. It's not about the speed. You can just as easy have a low speed accident. Pants/jacket/boots just keep you from getting "more" banged up than without. That's all I was meaning....
-
Good armored pants for when you go down. ie. wreck. It's not IF you'll ever drop it, it's WHEN. It's been years since I wrecked a bike, I'm thankful that one was a dirtbike and I was geared up!

Tire repair kit ($30), is a must. Rain suit, etc..etc..... you can buy a tank bag to stow it.... Or there are many other types of bags to purchase. What kind of helmet did you get? Jacket? Pants? Boots? hmmmmmm?

You did good. I love those Shadows. Great ride, smooth.....etc.. Plus, they don't break down like a Harley! Edit to add: Ride it like everyone is trying to kill you!! Cause they are..... Ride like everyone is going to pull out on you from a side road. Cause they do. Have fun!
-
I was just out having fun!! Promise I didn't pick on the HD rider, swear!! On the flipside, I'll be picking up me a HD next year....or so I think. Keeping the Yamaha FZ1 though!
-
I ride a sportbike. I wave at everybody else but it's always funny how the "Harley" riders don't wave back!! Some "Harley" rider was in front of me the other day, and he was spitting! back full well knowing I was there...... I "cracked" my throttle and went by him almost supersonic.....yep.

Should have put a cheap spy camera somewhere out of sight and record her reaction... Probably too late to do that now. Probably not going to be anything coming out of her mouth that's fit to print in a family newspaper. Our boy hasn't checked in this pm. Hope she didn't double-tap him in the parking lot!! -

PBS miniseries "Carrier" USS Nimitz starts Sun Apr27
Beerlight replied to marcandalysse's topic in The Bonfire
How about very embarrassed by it! A. Glad I never joined the Navy! B. They should try and "hold down" the little reality series they have going there. Proud of them people, but damn they do look bad on many occasions. Is that necessary? Not a very good "recruiting" effort..... -
For your drive: Maximize fuel economy by heeding the speed limit. It takes 20% more fuel to travel at 65 mph than at 55 mph, and 25% more when driving at 75 mph vs. 65 mph. Also, travel light: 100 pounds of weight in the trunk reduces most cars' fuel efficiency by 1% to 2%. If you must take it along, carry it in the trunk and not on a roof rack, which decreases mileage by up to 5%.

Okay......so now the question is - would $2.5-$3k do it? Answer these and then can come up wif estimate. - What is the total one-way distance for this trip? - What type of vehicle will you be driving? - Total weight of luggage/gear you'll be taking? - Do you plan to stay in a hotel at anytime during the trip? - Do you have friends to stay with in Denver upon arrival or will it be a hotel? over
-
I voted to fly. But then I thought, if you've never planned your own trip before, and haven't seen that part of the country.....drive! It'll be a nice experience, and ain't that what life's all about?! Get some MRE"s, water, caffeine, and hit the road....

Not connected to the eustachian tube at all. I'd ask your doc if your having bigtime issues. But for general congestion, sudafed usually works for most. I snort a little Afrin prior to diving or flying (when I have congestion) and that usually opens up the sinus passages. But there is no way to totally rule out having a sinus block. Sinus blocks usually give NO warning of impending pain........ Shit just stabs you hard!!

QuoteThe worst case was the Chinese Destroying a space station and creating an extra 150,000 pieces of debris.... Quote The Chinese created (all on their very own) 10% of all space "junk" with this one shot! Not very well thought out on the dismissal of their "weather" satellite...
