  1. Oh, anything I can do to help support our brave military men. Ha ha ha! J/k!
  2. I used to LOVE my classes at UF b/c there were about 1000 people in each class and they were held in auditoriums. Students are just numbers and I LOVE IT THAT WAY. They don't care if you come to class, participate, etc. You either have 3 exams or one exam that will count for your entire grade. I wouldn't have to attend all semester, I'd buy the Einstein's notes before the exam and show up on exam day and get an A. Now, I'm graduating in December but I've spent my last year of college at UNF. The classes are about 20 students, the professors all expect you to show up and participate and NONE of them like me very much. But, I've found that no matter how much they don't like me, they still grade pretty fairly based on my academic performance so I can't complain. I look at it as: I don't have a problem w/ authority, authority has a problem with me Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  3. Ohhh, you mean have I ever served IN the armed forces...not if I've ever *served* an armed forcesman. JUST KIDDING PEOPLE!
  4. Exactly...it's all about ROI (return on investment)...a house AND a college education generally give good returns...So, Lisa is right, going into some debt for college is OK. It is also OK to go into debt for a house, b/c most of the time, the value of the home will increase in the years to come, espcecially here where I live, at the beach. Conversely, it is wise NOT to borrow money for things that depreciate in value after you buy them such as cars and furniture. I broke my own rule, though...I took out a loan for my car...but by doing so, I've VASTLY helped my credit for buying a house soon b/c I made the payments on time and more than in full. (I had automatic withdrawals from my account) But generally speaking, it is wise only to go into some debt for investments w/ good returns and not a good idea at all to go into debt for things that depreciate in value.
  5. If I follow your analygy correctly, then I mostly agree that after someone has gotten themselves out of debt, having been in it...they are in better shape and have learned a valuable lesson. However, I have a friend who racked up 30k+ in debt and filed bankruptcy. Now my taxes are paying his damn debt. I view that as him robbing me of my money. We would have less taxes if it weren't for bankruptcy. While I know some people have extraordinary circumstances, and that is fine, this friend of mine just didn't give a shit and in return, I feel he cheated me, my family, my friends and other tax payers. I had 1k in debt from when I first started skydiving on a credit card. I paid it off a few months ago in full. I learned a much better lesson from having that debt and having to watch my minimum montly payments do NOTHING for my balance. I'm glad I learned the lesson that way, othewise, in the future, I could have been in worse shape. I made all my payments on time though, and as a result, my credit is still in great shape., thankfully.
  6. Suggestion: Come to Deland instead. Brannan (blackwidow) and I will be there on Saturday jumping before I head down to SkyQuest. A lot of the swoopers in Deland and Sebastian (Lyle is organizing it) will be at SkyQuest already so you won't see many people there.
  7. Actually, I like my fantasy better when it's two girls and a guy; there's something about REALLY turning a guy on that turns me on, too But like I said...it will stay in my fantasy pile
  8. I can attest to that....and I can also assure you...Andrea LOVES the bratwurst.
  9. Off topic: Actually, there was a lady going around some big corporate office w/ a petition that non-smokers should get an extra weeks vacation a year, than smokers b/c when she added up the time the spend waiting for the elevator, taking the elevator down, smoking, then coming back up, that it equally a WHOLE DAY a month extra that she was working over them b/c she didn't take those breaks.
  10. I've fantasized about it, both w/ another girl and guy and two other guys, but I will leave it in my fantasy world. I would NEVER want to do that w/ someone I love and since I wouldn't have sex w/ someone I didn't really care about, then that pretty much leaves me at...no threesome But, alas....I think I keep both myself and my boy-toy VERY satisfied and don't really need to bring in anyone else. After all, it's FANTASTIC now just one-on-one...why ruin that?
  11. Muenkel, my words exactly...except I don't smoke so don't take smoke breaks and I bring stuff to snack on for lunch, so i look at it as...if you add up all the time I spend on the net while at work, and add up the time other employees get up to pee, smoke or go out on a lunch break, then we break about even Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  12. He heh e....yea, usually when I've got a good buzz, I switch to coke or water and by that time, everyone else is too drunk to notice;-)
  13. I also, want to add, that people who do shouldn't be so agressive about getting others to, too. I'm not speaking from personal experience b/c I always do what I want regardless of what people say. However, a friend of mine who had just started skydiving had never tried any drugs. I know it was this person's choice to try them...but, had it not been for all these people at the DZ encourageing the person to try it, come on, all skydivers do it..blah, blah, blah...then I don't think this person would have ever tried them. I think, do what you want to your own body, don't judge people who do or don't do drugs and don't try to push your views onto anyone else; meaning, if you don't do drugs, don't push people who do to quit, and if you do do drugs, don't push people who don't to start. Just mind your own damn business Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  14. I feel the same way about drugs. My family drinks, I drink, I just try not to get sloppy. I know my limits and almost always stop when I've reached them. But, I feel the same way about drugs...I never did them in high school (well, except pot) and still haven't to this day. I don't want to put anything in my body that some stranger conjured up in his basement. I also, tend to get every side effect on the label of prescription drugs and I worry that I would be the ONE person to have an ill effect from them. I'm 22, I've made it this far w/out them, I always have a damn good time w/out them, so why start now?

    Axl Rose

While I like GnR...I saw them in their first back-together performance at the MTV music video awards and thought Axl sucked. He seemed too tired to run and sing at the same time. His hair was in braids. He sang "Welcome to the Jungle" and it just SUCKED. Excuse my french;-) Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  16. While I do think that there are *some* (read, not a lot but some) people popping out kid after kid that really shouldn't be (condoms are free) I wouldn't say that you have to be rich, by any means, to have children. Shit can happen to the best of us. While I do think college can make it a lot easier to make a lot more $$$, it by no means is the only way to do it. I'm not sure about other states, but Florida has merit scholarships that reward high school students w/ up to 100% of their college tuition paid based on their GPA and volunteer work/extracurricular activities, etc. I am fortunate to have had a father who would have paid for my college, however, I was awarded more than one scholarship b/c of my GPA that more than paid for my college degree. I think any parent, poor or rich, can encourage their kids to do well in school, help them study and make it possible for them to be awarded a scholarship to pay for their tuition. There are LOTS of free tutoring programs available in any neighborhood for children who need assistance. So, no, I don't necessarily think a person should avoid having children just b/c they can't afford to put them through college. I do, however, think no parent should have a child unless they're willing to encourage them in their studies and do all they can for them to help their child succeed. Also, with all the different circumstances out there, you really can't put a whole groups of people into one category. I do a lot of volunteer work, and while I'm not for giving handouts to people who haven't tried to do anything for themselves, I've seen a # of cases that, the parents had much different plans for their children when they had them, and b/c of some not-so-extraordinary circumstances (ie. shit happened) they weren't able to support their children anymore. I am actually writing a Hope Fund story for the paper about such a woman right now. She had been working her ass off at a meager job to support her children and doing everything she could for them, when something terrible happened and now she is unable to do so. That is just one of many things that could go wrong. Life is not predicatable. You can only hope for the best. While I see your point, Jraf, I don't think it's wise to stereotype.
  17. He he he...well, I do get paid pretty well, especially being a part-time while-in-school job, but I think they pay well b/c they know just how monotonous and boring it is and they feel bad
  18. How many of you are on here the most from work? I'll be the first to say that all my school classes are in computer labs and I work at a computer so I'm pretty much online all day. I rarely sign on DZ.com when I'm at home, much less do anything else online at home. But at work and school, is when, out of sheer boredom, I like to see what's going on, on the forums. Basically, I keep this job b/c I always meet my deadlines way ahead of schedule so I have plenty of time to do homework and post w/ you guys online. The $$$ is good and I make my own hours around my school schedule...but let's face it...it's pretty damn boring. It's good for while I"m in school but after I graduate, I'll definitely be moving on. What about the rest of you? Who else gets paid to be on DZ.com?
  19. I think Wee-man is hot. I hear he dates tall girls, ladies
  20. That's REALLY sick, Bill. REALLY SICK!
  21. He he he...yuuup, you know what kind Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  22. I didn't say weird...just curious why anyone would want to do that.
  23. Speaking of practices for SkyQuest...I will be jumping in Deland on Saturday before heading down to SkyQuest. Most everyone will already be there. My question is: Who will be in Deland this weekend? Anyone:
  24. Would someone explain the desire to put your picture on the site? Just curious why people do that
  25. Those things crack me up...you're so silly!
