  1. I never said it's a no-fail transision to swooping but I think it's a LOT SMARTER to practice really getting to know your canopy up high, how it flies, playing w/ your front risers, etc. before you start on the ground. Someone who never did that up high that immediately starts near the ground is asking for an injury at the very least, I think.
  2. Mine are: I remember the days, when I was so eager to satisfy you Innocent I was, just to prove I could walk beside you Now I float away, I see you've chosen to stay behind me And now you curse the day, I decided to stay true to myself ~Nelly Furtado
  3. i saw that on Real TV...made me sad...poor donkey Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  4. When I saw it, not only did I think very cool, but very lucky...most people wouldn't be able to afford that type of technology that would allow him to do all those things. I remember when the incident happened, though and it was very cool to see him perservere.

He he he....BILLLLL.....WE FINALLY AGREE ON SOMETHING He he he...I second this!
  6. Not saying it's weird of not weird, but, I've seen non-skydivers who work for PD that know more about parachutes and how they fly, etc. than most skydivers. Why should it be any different for a rigger?
  7. Well, gemini's are supposedly split personalities and this couldn't be more true for me...while in business I'm very realistic, practical, a planner and super organized and efficient, in play I'm spontaneous, idealistic and crazy.
  8. Are you kidding? All I do is practice on my front risers up high. You can totally practice that stuff up high. You can hear the speed and feel it as well. You don't need the ground rush to learn that until you're ready.

I usually know who people are, I just don't treat them any differently than anyone else I haven't formerly met

No biggie, silly I do think it's funny the whole idea of asking for autographs. Maybe it's just me but actor or not, star or not, big hot shot name in skydiving or not, I'm not a star-struck kinda girl. To me, you're cool if you are genuine and honest. That could mean being egotistical and saying, "Hey, I'm full of myself, that's me, take it or leave it" and then we're cool b/c you meet the criteria of being genuine and honest. But, just b/c everyone else might think your cool, doesn't necessarily mean I do. "Coolness" has to be earned. Therefore, autographs mean little to me w/out knowing someone in person. I understand admiring someone's work, etc...but how many people that ask for autographs really admire the person's work rather than just want something to brag about to their friends?

    cave BASE

MMMM, I can't WAIT to BASE the cave, but I can assure you, I'll be hopping in from the ground above, not falling into from a helicopter 500 ft up like a few of those guys did. That is where I draw the line
  12. So glad to hear it, freebird. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Um, yea....Mike was also painted black/brown, but I'm not going to argue over it. I think deciding who is who and what actor did what is kinda silly. I'm not a star-struck kinda girl and definitely don't care for any of the Baldwin's

  16. I've noticed a few people who want to learn to swoop start off trying it at swooping levels. I thought I'd suggest people trying it up high first. I am a long ways from swooping on final approach but I practice a lot up high. I'd really like to eventually kick some ass in a swoop competition but I'm smart enough to know I'm not skillfully or mentally ready for it yet. I am fortunate to jump where a lot of swoopers practice and have gotten a lot of input on different degree turns, approaches, etc. to swooping. Believe it or not, there's a progressing. Up high, I practice a 270 but the first time someone tries it as a method to land, the best advice given to me was to start w/ a simple 90 degree turn and progress from there. I'm not expert but like I said, I have been fortunate to jump with a lot of great swoopers and it upsets me to see others who, with not nearly enough skydiving experience, trying swooping as their method of landing w/out having ever tried it up high or progressed in to it. I just recently witnessed a jumper w/ 150 jumps try such a thing and break his phemor. It could have been worse. Just thought I'd make a suggestion
  17. That's really funny...but I really don't like clowns

All the beach shots were done in Flagler Beach and the rest was in Miami. Before the movie came out, we watched it w/ Norm and he narrated the different scenes. You have to have the cheesy plot for whuffo's to enjoy but the skydiving footage was excellent, I thought.
  22. BZ quit smoking 1.5 years ago. Like you, he quit cold turkey. Think of it as a game, being stronger than your previous self. (No, that doesn't mean I'm saying smokers are weak, but giving in to something when you really don't want to is a sign of weakness.) For BZ, every time he wanted a cig I attacked his body to take his mind off it. He he he. It worked, but then afterward, he wanted one. Ha ha ha...so what's a girl to do but attack his body all over again? Seriously though...I admire people who quit anything cold turkey b/c of the amount of strength and stamina it takes. It's such a turn-on to know that a guy is that much in control of himself and stamina is always a good thing. I never asked BZ to quit, but I'm SURE glad he did. Go with what you really want...if you really want to quit, then keep going on the same track you're on

    phobia

No tangible fears...my only fear is having my heart broken. As far as tangible things, though....I have none...there hasn't been anything on Fear Factor I wouldn't do. And, if you watch that MTV show, "I bet you will" then I would do all that, too, except, not for as cheap as they do it. Some girl shaved her head for $100! Some guy ate three big, narley centipededes for a measly $50. I'm thinking to myself, "They pay people 50k to do that shit on Fear Factor, you cheap people!" (sarcastic) I strongly believe in mind over matter. It is definitely possible....I haven't taken any martial arts or anything like that, I've just always been able to do it. I can relax myself, clear my mind, and put full concentration on one thing. People don't believe me, but when I got my two tattoos, I didn't feel a thing. I concentrated with all my energy on relaxing and feeling the tattoo artists spare hand that was steadying himself. I'm not saying I don't ever feel pain...I'm just saying, I believe fears, pain, and quite a number of things in life are all about mind over matter.
