Ohhhh, Skyrose, don't even get me started on big companies setting up their factories in 3rd world countries. The arguement is: "Oh, we're helpig bring them jobs and money." but the truth is, they like these countries b/c they don't have the safe work hazards rules, environmental rules, etc. that we have in the US. In my sociology classes we read extensive research on the subject...it really pisses me off. I don't feel like arguing it, though, so I'll leave this comment in its brevity. PPLLLLLEAAASE notify someone. Child abuse of ANY kind is unacceptable. While I don't agree w/ spanking...I wouldn't call on someone for spanking their child b/c some people believe it's a good disciplinary method and it's somewhat accepted. If she's going far beyond spanking, however, PLEASE call right away. This is something that could affect the kids for the rest of their lives. Children are innocent and if they've been treated that way for so long they might even believe it's the norm and OK to treat others that way as well. Use your best judgement and PLEASE call if you think there's something wrong going on. A caring and concerned neighbor is the best friend those children might have. I pretty much agree w/ you, but it's hard to say what is right in that situation and what is wrong. The United States has an opportunity to offer than can be found no place else, and I feel like everyone in the world should have a right to that, as well, if they so choose. Your points, however, about working for meager wages, employers exploiting illegal immigrants, etc. I pretty much agree with. I've heard one such employer, say, that he didn't feel bad about having mexicans work for him for less than minimum wage b/c what he pays them is still much more than they could make in their own country. I see his point, but don't think I agree with what he was doing, either. Anways....I don't like the article b/c I necessarily think it's OK for immigrants to not speak English, I like it b/c it helps me to understand that, even though I may think that immigrants should learn the language, it helps me not to judge them for not doing so. Basically, despite how you feel about immigrants, etc...it puts some things in perspective, I think. Like I said, I'm not necessarily for illegal immigrants and people not speaking English, just that I try not to assume things b/c you never know any one particular person's situation. This is a feature article written for a newspaper a while back. It is part of a series of America's Best Newswriting. It is only a page and a half long if you have a chance to read it. It's my favorite feature article ever written and I wanted to share it. It reminds me just how important it is not to stereotype and judge others. If you get a chance to read it, let me know what you think. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. Mexican-American.doc

He he he...I'll let the mama handle this one...I'm off to ruin dinner (BZ is already at SkyQuest.) Nachos sound good! When BZ is gone, I get to eat really naughty food...I think I'll have nachos and a slice of apple pie
-
Indeed...the rules are, we are the master and you do as we tell you...now bend over, you've been a VERY naughty boy!

Jamaica is my FAVORITE island to visit. The best part is, even in the NICEST jewelry stores, you can ask for a beer and they'll reach behind the showcase and hand you a Red Stripe!

Me too! I don't kill ANYTHING...I capture it and put it outside. The girl's at work all scream for me when there's a bug in their office. Poor BZ hit a bird last weekend. I started crying and he felt soooo bad seeing me cry. Ha ha ha...SUCKER! Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

He he he...yea, I could think of a milion like: Super Sonic Otter Van DOOR! GREEN LIGHT! Un skydiving-related, a funny name was a friend who had a big rotweiler and named him "Security" so when she'd call him she'd yell, "Security, Security!" and the dog would come running.
-
OK, I know about a hundred skydiver's dogs named "Sky". I named my cat, Sabre, after my canopy and he wears a mini-skydiving pin on his colar. When I get a dog, I want to name it, if it's a girl, Velocity or Javelin, and if it's a boy, Swoop or Javelin. Anyone else? Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Nooooo, I wouldn't have that many...two is enough...I wish I could but I think you should only have as many pets as you can give a lot of attention to. I do want a puppy, though, soon, but not until I buy a house and have more room. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

I agree. Rain sucks. Plus SkyQuest is going on. Rain, Rain, go away. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

I noticed that, too. I feel violated! I think they should have to register before they can view the forumns.

Rain on Saturday I really wanted to jump I'll try anyway

Yes, some of the best swoopers in the world jump in Deland. I watch them all, how high/low, etc they begin their turns, what degree turns they do, etc. all the time. The advice I was given by one in particular was not to start out trying a 270 or 360 degree turn when you're just learning but to start smaller. I interpreted that to mean something more along the lines of 90 degrees. Obviously, I wouldn't try anything w/out prior instruction, and as I mentioned, I am a ways away from being skillfully ready to attempt swooping. My entire point was how important it is to play w/ your front risers at altitude, make turns w/ your front and rear risers, see how your canopy reacts, read your altimeter, etc., listen to your acceleration, feel your accleration and just really be comfotable w/ your canopy and know how it flies before you try swooping. I can't imagine why you would rather someone who never before did any of this to go right into trying swooping. I've seen it a few times and in every case the person got injured. Luckily, I haven't personally witnessed the fatalities but have read about them numerous time sin Parachutist. I think swooping is incredible and can't wait to do it, myself, I was just hoping I could make a small suggestion so people might make a smarter decision about it and when to try it for the first time, etc. I think I'll leave it at that...many of my closest skydiving friends and my boyfriend are swoopers and I wouldn't want this to reflect any on them. I love my boyfriend and friends and respect all the advice they have given me. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Awww, you are awesome, skygal! The cat stealing pizza crust reminds me of Sabre. Sabre likes to eat and he tries to eat my other cat Zoe's food when he's done w/ his. I always yell, "NO!" so he lays two feet away, stretches out his paw as far as it can go and bats Zoe's food off her plate while she's eating so he can eat it too w/out getting caught. What a little brat! I'm hoping to make enough $$$ in my future to open a safe animal shelter. THere's a wonderful one on the other side of town where all the animals get to roam free most of the time and have little doors to come inside or got out. The cats get to go out into a screened area and the dogs have a nice big yard to play. There's separate areas for animals who don't get along so well w/ others and a separate puppy/kitten play area. They have an excellent adoption rate and run off donations. The place is very clean, cute, and really nice for the animals. None are ever euthanized and all are spayed/neutered. I'd REALLY like to open a place like that but I need to make a shitload of $$$ first b/c donations probably wouldn't cover everything.

I played classical piano for 11 years I play a little bit of drums and a little clarinet. When I was 4 I REALLY wanted to play drums. My father said I'd have to learn piano first b/c it was the "basis of all music." I was a natural and I guess he liked having me play for his snooty friends so I never got my drum set I used to play my friend's drums though all the time. He showed me how and I REALLY love it. I daydream all the time, when songs come on, that I'm the drummer. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Pretty damn close, Muenkel! Except, if you read b/w the lines, it would be: 1.BZ wild, crazy sex 2.Sabre 3.Skymama wild, crazy spankings 4. Her na-nas gotta spank the bootie some more 5. Miss Virginia entering her talent portion: hard baton twirling 6. Muenkel more wild, crazy spankings Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
