  1. Let's just throw vegetables at them. I'm not one for fighting, myself. But food fights are fun. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  2. I had no idea what it meant until now. But I viewed it as an inside joke--you know, like we had in high school? When I was a child, I spake as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child: now that I am become a woman, I have put away childish things. -I Corinthians 13:11 Thus, I didn't care what it meant. No worries, Aggie. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  3. Yes! Cocktail! Definitely on my all-time favorites list.
  4. It's her voice and attitude. My whole mom's side of the family is German; I love a good German accent. This will sound weird, but it's almost like Heidi is trying to talk with the accent/over-emphasizing instead of it being natural. I try not to judge, and not to many people just for no reason rub me the wrong way, but Mrs. Klum does. Anywho, I caught the last fiew episodes on my DVR. I really, really wanted Uli to win. I LOVE Uli. I love all her clothes and would wear them all! She seems to have a great attitude/personality and awesome sense of style/what's fun & also comfortable. I love the 60s kick-back with the modern twists. I love that her designs aren't over-the-top skin-baring and/or slutty (Michael!). But, I have a feeling Uli will be just fine even though she didn't win.
  5. Oh, please. If I liked anyone for that reason alone I wouldn't like anyone. I don't want to be average, myself.
  6. I'm funny about it; as usual. I'm really, really comfortable with myself. I'm also a big tease by nature; ie: I'm flirty but make it clear, we're just friends. I have no issues with anyone seeing me naked. I've had to change really quickly in a crowded room, I've camped when I was younger in a cabin where we all had to change in front and the bathroom stalls did not have doors. I sleep naked. I routinely walk around the house naked. I'm really, really comfortable with naked.
  7. I try to separate the person from their craft; a great many weirdos have created some extraordinary things. Days of Thunder is a fantastic movie and I love it. I've enjoyed many other Tom Cruise movies, too. But I haven't seen the Last Samurai. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  8. It's more polite than biting them off.
  9. There's a lot of variables to this. My first question would be whether the woman forced her child to help her or the child voluntarily helped for extra money. You answered that question; or at least the woman did. Chores/responsibilities around the house and for the family teach valuable lessons and is perfectly fine/acceptable for a parent to assign, regardless of the child's wants. Work outside the home, however, needs to be voluntary up until a certain age. Since she volunteered for the extra cash, I'm completely fine with it; assuming that's the true story. Personally, I have issue with any stranger in my house cleaning. We've had problems in my family with various cleaning services and privately hired cleaners that have broken, stolen, you-name-it. I'd say the chances of a 12-year-old accidentally breaking something are much higher than an adult and for that reason I would not want the 12-year old cleaning my house. My second question would be are proper precautions being taken? What chemicals are being used to clean? Are they harsh chemicals such as bleach? If so, is the child wearing gloves and a mask? An adult can decide for themselves the risk involved and choose as they prefer. A child, regardless of volunteering to do the work should only be permitted to do so if she is willing to protect herself and it is then the parent's responsibility to make sure the child is properly protected. Also, I'd question how well the mother is keeping an eye on her 12-year-old. Certainly in her own home she knows what dangerous things are in the house and where and has (hopefully) placed them out of reach of the child and/or has educated the child on their danger. In a stranger's home, however, there's no telling what the 12-year-old could come across while cleaning that might interest her and could potentially be dangerous. I would hope the mother is also cleaning the bathroom with the child; maybe doing the shower while the child cleans the sink. I think it's important a watchful eye be kept. And I don't think it's a clear social class thing OR cultural. I always had to work for money despite living in what would be considered a well-to-do household. Granted my work was around the house, but was in addition to my chores. I could opt to do anything from washing/waxing my dad's car/motorcycle to climbing in the attic and wiring a circuit breaker should that need to be done. Different things had different values. I'd get $5 for washing my Dad's car for example. But, I'd get $20 for digging a 10 foot long by 2 feet deep ditch so my dad could then install an inground sprinkler system. There are only limited jobs outside the house (babysitting, modeling, acting, lawn-mowing, lemonade stand, etc) for children under the age of 15 unless they have a family member/friend that makes an exception for them; in which case child labor laws and proper safety precautions should be taken. I have a major issue with forced child labor; the mere fact that they're working at their age has little to do with it. The problem I have is what they're being forced to do and the conditions they're forced to do it in. This situation it seems is a far, far cry from what I have issue with though. I would have spoken up with you, Lisa. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  10. I just watched it this morning. I've never seen West Wing so I can't agree/disagree with your comparison. But, I definitely thought last night's episode was the best so far.
  11. I respectfully disagree. It is not "one video" as you say that puts the industry to shame. There is ample documented evidence of these "sub-standard" (which I think is a VERY kind way of putting it) conditions in numerous facilities. That is also my focus. I realize the conversation turned organic as well, but I'm not here to argue for 100% organic farming. I like organic. I try to buy organic, but that is not my cause. Furthermore, I've not done the proper research to make an argument for organic farming. I have, however, done extensive research into animal welfare issues & conditions and how to make positive changes in that regard.
  12. I've always had clear skin and do now; it's tough to say during the few years I didn't whether it was due to my unhealthy diet or birth control as I started & quit both around the same time. But, I completely agree, nonetheless. I think diet has SO much to do w/ anti-aging & the appearance of skin, hair & nails.
  13. The original conversation did lead to the natural benefits of a healthier and/or organic diet. I think the evidence presented by freeflybella and others was quite good in demonstrating why exactly such choices are healthier options. Again, (I feel like a broken record) as I previously stated my goal was not to change the minds of all; just one. And I did that. This thread is a success, imo.
  14. Thanks for your input, Bill. Excellent!
  15. I'm having a tough time following your logic, Royd. Although, I believe we have already addressed some of your points (beef cattle, quality of meat, etc.) Regarding rabbits and hunting, I am quite situationally opinionated. That would be another discussion altogether. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  16. Yes, dairy might just be the topic of "Animal Cruelty--Part Two". I LOVE cheese so admitedly dairy has always been a little difficult to eliminate; but at the very least when I purchase it, it is with a conscious mind.
  17. Perhaps, but we argueably have the toughest schedule. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  18. I wouldn't ride in either; and if I saw the later I'd alert animal care & control. Please provide your personal reasons why with legitimate sources to back. Based on my own research (and it's not an easy thing to post/explain, as I previously mentioned) I disagree. Egg-cellent. More jobs! I'm not sure what you mean. Where did having roosters in the city come into the conversation? Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  19. Still, at least they're not "volunteers".
  20. Most definitely. When that thread started there were never attachments. I never checked back. YOWZA! To my pleasant surprise I see there was much I have missed and was not aware of. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  21. Nope, didn't help. But I still think you're . Nobody has two mascots. There's something else to it. If there's not I think it's silly. SILLY! But, yes, the eagle is still released, flies the circle and lands on the handlers mit; at least he did last night.
  22. But, we (Gators) didn't really deserve to win the way we were playing anyways. But, since we're on the subject and I've not the time to look it up... Does anyone know what the hell the "war eagle" is all about? I mean, they're the Auburn TIGERS. Please explain. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  23. I think for those of us who have lived all our lives in the U.S., traveling w/in our own country is highly underrated. First, let me say I'm very, very fortunate that I was able to travel so much in my youth. My father worked hard and played hard so we vacationed a lot. He'd always hear me go on and on about how much I wish I could have gone w/ him on all his overseas business trips. He always said the same thing; you really should see all your own country has to offer first. It's easy to take that statement the wrong way; but I understood what he meant one summer when we took 4 months off in a house-on-wheels and traveled the U.S; mountains & desert & badlands & waterfalls & forests & everything right here that are just spectacular. Plus, it's a lot less expensive most of the time. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
