How many of the women preferred to read a good book as a child rather than play with dolls? Just curious who the bookworms are and how that relates to adventure sports later in life. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

Apparently nobody here had heard the song, "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas". I'm sure it would have come up by now if you had. That is a Disturbing statement from someone wearing a badge!(especially the "obviously criminals") As a Police officer serving a warrant, your frame of mind should be , "I am servinga warrant on a citizen, that may or may not be guilty, so I need to aproach with care, but treat them as innocent!" It is not a police officers job to decide guilt, only make the arrest...that statement sounds as though your mind is made up , just because a judge signed a warrant! I think you read alot into that. I was once a cop. When I was a cop, I had my hands full dealing with people who broke the law in front of me or a bunch of witnesses. I didn't need to stretch the rules of evidence. If someone had drugs and scales laying the back seat during a traffic stop (happened), why would I worry about getting into someone's garage or trunk or whatever? If you can watch a stream of people going to a house to make small, quick purchases of something in a plastic bag, do a traffic stop on one and have them tell you, "Yeah, that's my crack dealer" why worry about thermal imaging? "Obviously criminals" referred to all those times I could view the offense or had people around me dying to tell me what they saw. I had enough of that to keep me busy. Does that clarify things? The other side of this is that they've had a huge influx of guys claiming to be gay...just to watch the porn. Then, they say, "See you tomorrow, Ed. See if you can get some new stuff." and leave. If they were really swift, they would offer the fake homosexuals a beautiful woman. That would clear out all of us pretenders...until tomorrow. Federal Judge to Rule on Health Law's Constitutionality
davjohns replied to popsjumper's topic in Speakers Corner
Agreed. With the downfall of the Reserved Powers and the rise of political gain over legal precedent, I expect this will drawn out until the law is firmly entrenched and it's legality is irrelevant. Like Andy said, it depends on the Judge and jurisdiction most of the time. Are drug dogs generally available to the public? Yet, their alert can be used as a basis for a search. Why not thermal imagery? I can order that off the internet easier than the dog. We start splitting hairs in this arena, and it just depends on which hairs the Judge is willing to let us split. I'm rather split on searches. If a cop asked me politely to look over my car and seemed a bit embarassed by it, I would likely tell him go ahead. I have nothing to hide. If he threatened to get a dog or warrant and acted as if he had the right, I would tell him to piss up a rope. As a cop, I never mirandized anyone or asked any questions. I either had them or I didn't. Same way with warrants. I had my hands full dealing with people who were obviously criminals. I didn't have time to play in the grey area of evidence. As an attorney, it has always amazed me how many cops and prosecutors get emotionally involved and try to find all new ways to prosecute someone while six time losers are being offered probation to get them processed. It's a numbers game that leads to re-election most of the time. Sheesh. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I think everyone at my DZ recognizes the commercial aspect of it. They guy who owns it has to meet bills and we all appreciate that what he does keeps us jumping. But, it is small enough that every time jumpers are out, most of the people not jumping go out and count canopies. If there is a cutaway, someone is chasing the canopy before the jumper hits the ground. If someone lands out, someone else is on the way to pick them up. At least here, it is not a DZ as a commercial entity responsibility. It is a DZ as a family responsibility which happens to be tied to the commercial entity. Does that make sense? Not sure if large DZs have a chance of replicating that. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. The comparison is just an example of HIS bias as well - hypocrit - So it's ok for him to determine what's "appropriate" but not ok for the SA. so he and the Salvation Army are both out of line - maybe the parents can decide what kind of toys their kids can have - what a radical idea I suspect that it was more that he found the SA to be hypocritical for using what he perceived as a double-standard by an organization holding itself out as exemplifying Christian principles - i.e., for not asking themselves "WWJD" and, on that basis, ALSO rejecting toys based on weapons. Whoa! WWJD? Reject the weapons? Try again, pardner. Read the book. He DIRECTED his followers to buy weapons and even inspected them at one point. I don't care about the toys. My children could always tell the difference between reality and fiction just fine. It just jumped out at me when someone attributed attitudes to Rabbi Yeshua that are in direct contrast with his reported actions and words. For some reason, describing the FBI's efforts as "playing along" just seemed an odd choice of words. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

I was a cop years ago. Some guys are going to write the ticket no matter what. I was one that avoided writing a ticket if you were just a normal person who needed a reminder. If I pulled you over for something and you also had a suspended license, you needed more than a reminder. If you started the conversation with, "What the hell do you want?" (No kidding. It happened.) Then you clearly wanted a full vehicle inspection. Each department has different rules. Some supervisors or departments expect you to write a ticket to justify the stop. They think it helps reduce their legal exposure. To the OP - most cops are male and human. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Maybe the aliens will be zombieish with a twist, they need to feed on those with closed minds ... that would be cool I have found that most people consider anyone who doesn't agree with them "closed minded". If you think you have the answer to any question, you are, by definition, closed minded on that subject. That's why I wander around acting on a set of probabilities based on past experiences that may or may not prove to hold up in the next moment. As far as I know, this is all a dream... Do you really think that when true alien life is found from somewhere out there that a few of the flat earthers, creationists, and others who might have a disdain for any change might have their rather small apple carts upset just a tad??? Exactly my point! I have yet to circumnavigate the Earth to prove it is not flat, watched creation or evolution in action or otherwise proven or disproven things others hold dear. Your mind is apparently closed on these issues. I am still merely working with heresay evidence and probabilities. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Sometimes, I think it is time for me to plan a fall from grace as well. Work the system. Claim I'm disabled. Get those swell government checks and plan my life of crime financed by the public. Afterall, I can't afford the cars I see the people in public housing driving. I sure can't afford the seven week Australian vacation this woman was enjoying. Seems to me that this life of work, duty and devotion was a bad choice. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I hope this isn't something we use as decision criteria. But on the subject; I expect integration of homsexuals in the military might be similar to integration of blacks. We draw our lower enlisted from a very divers group that is often of a low socio-economic status. There will be open and concealed hostility toward those who are openly gay. Possibly less so than what we experienced with black integration, but still there. I think it is inevitable and logical to remove the barriers. I'm undecided about the timing. It might be easier if we were not dealing with Afghanistan, Iraq and a world recession. But then, when is there never something important going on to distract us?

I was captain of the rifle team in HS. I was a competitive martial artist for years. Lots of trophies went through my hands. The only thing I've held onto was a nice plaque from a hang gliding competition. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I'll wade in. I'm on active duty. I've served over 26 years so far. Military members do salute when in civilian clothing. We don't give lower enlisted a hard time if they do not. They are generally not viewed as career Soldiers. Ranking NCOs and officers, however, will salute someone of higher rank whenever they recognize them. It is a sign of a respectful professional. It has nothing to do with regulations. Some of us are careful to salute retired seniors for the same reason. The President is not required to salute. Until Ronald Reagan, they did not return the salutes of the Marines who guard the White House. I do not require anyone to earn my respect or courtesy. If I deny someone respect or courtesy, I view myself as disrespectful and discourteous. I have heard many people state that others have to earn their respect. I think those people see themselves as much more important than they likely are. If you fail to show respect or courtesy to another, I do not look at the other as unworthy. I look at you as a person who has no respect for others. Just my position. I'm sure some disrespectful person will fail to understand and post evidence of such failure herein. John: Sorry. No. I have always made a point of not dating anyone who had a previous relationship with someone I knew. That avoides emotional issues. So, I've never dated anyone who was even friends with someone else. Can't say it has made anything easier, but I can't say it's made things harder. SouthernMan: Same here. Ex seems to have had no trouble sleeping around while married. Turns out I knew nothing about her. Or some of the other women I dated either. That's just it. I don't think they had any notion of us being exclusive. I just felt guilty about seeing two women at once.
