A father passing by his son's bedroom was astonished to see that his bed was nicely made and everything was picked up. Then he saw an envelope, propped up prominently on the pillow that was addressed to 'Dad.' With the worst premonition he opened the envelope with trembling hands and read the letter. Dear Dad: It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you. I had to elope with my new girlfriend because I wanted to avoid a scene with Mom and you. I have been finding real passion with Stacy and she is so nice. But I knew you would not approve of her because of all her piercing, tattoos, tight motorcycle clothes and the fact that she is much older than I am. But it' s not only the passion...Dad she's pregnant. Stacy said that we will be very happy. She owns a trailer in the woods and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. We share a dream of having many more children.. Stacy has opened my eyes to the fact that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone. We'll be growing it for ourselves and trading it with the other people that live nearby for cocaine and ecstasy. In the meantime we will pray that science will find a cure for AIDS so Stacy can get better. She deserves it. Don't worry Dad. I'm 15 and I know how to take care of myself. Someday I'm sure that we will be back to visit so that you can get to know your grandchildren. Love, Your Son John PS. Dad, none of the above is true. I'm over at Tommy's house. I Just wanted to remind you that there are worse things in life than a Report card That's in my center desk drawer. I love you. Call me when it's safe to come home... I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

A US Air Force C-130 was scheduled to leave Thule Air Base, Greenland, at midnight during a winter month. During the pilot's preflight check, he discovers that the latrine holding tank is still full from the last flight. So a message is sent to the base and an airman who was off duty is called out to take care of it. The young man finally gets to the air base and makes his way to the aircraft only to find that the latrine pump-truck has been left outdoors and is frozen solid, so he must find another one in the hangar, which takes even more time. He returns to the aircraft and is less than enthusiastic about what he has to do. Nevertheless, he goes about the pumping job deliberately and carefully (and slowly) so as not to risk criticism later. As he's leaving the plane, the pilot stops him and says, 'Son, your attitude and performance has caused this flight to be late and I'm going to personally see to it that you are not just reprimanded but punished.' Shivering in the cold, his task finished, he takes a deep breath, stands tall and says, 'Sir, with all due respect, I'm not your son; I'm an Airman in the United States Air Force. I've been in Thule, Greenland, for 11 months without any leave, and reindeers' asses are beginning to look pretty good to me. I have one stripe; it's 2:30 in the morning, the temperature is 40 degrees below zero, and my job here is to pump s*** out of an aircraft. Now, Sir, just exactly what form of punishment did you have in mind?' I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. JEFF GORDON FIRES PIT CREW AP Wire- Raleigh , NC Jeff Gordon announced today that he was firing his entire pit crew. This announcement followed Gordon's decision to take advantage of President Obama's scheme to employ Harlem youngsters. The decision to hire them was brought about by a recent documentary on how unemployed youths from Harlem were able to remove a set of wheels in less than 6 seconds without proper equipment, whereas Gordon's existing crew could only do it in 8 seconds with thousands of dollars worth of high tech equipment. It was thought to be an excellent and bold move by Gordon's management team, as most races are won or lost in the pits. However, Gordon got more than he bargained for. At the crew's first practice session, not only was the inexperienced crew able to change all 4 wheels in under 6 seconds, but within 12 seconds they had changed the paint scheme, altered the VIN number, and sold the car to Dale Earnhardt Jr. for 10 cases of Bud, a bag of weed, and some photos of Jeff Gordon's wife in the shower. I have long thought that gay people should have the same right to screw themselves over by getting married as everyone else. That being said...I'm not entirely sure why government is involved in marriage at all. At one time, it's regulation was necessary to protect women (and children to a lesser extent). With today's view of equality, it seems to me that everyone is able to enter into whatever marriage contract they wish and the government should treat it like any other civil contract. They did that at one time in England. I have no knowledge of how well it worked. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Therapist Treating Soldier for PTSD Stalks Him!

All of the people I have known in social work or psychology came from problematic backgrounds. They seemed to be in the field to figure themselves out more than anything. If you want a psychotherpeutic medicine, go to the local counseling center. The staff is taking lots of stuff. This story is interesting, but not entirely surprising to me. What do you need in a relationship? Trust, respect, appreciation, honesty, fidelity What do you want? Intelligent conversation, reasonably compatible views, some degree of physical attraction / mutually satisfying physical relationship, life goals that aren't mutually exclusive, decent conflict resolution skills, enjoy spending time together / some shared interests, no extreme or bad habits. What are you not willing to accept? Pretty much the opposite or lack of the things listed in the needs category. Untrustworthy, disrespectful, unappreciative, dishonest, disloyal. Probably not a comprehensive answer, but enough to work with. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. S Dakota: Law to Mandate Buying Guns Proposed
davjohns replied to Kennedy's topic in Speakers Corner
OK. I'm on board with the Amazon plan. Some people want to attack the individual right to keep and bear arms because the proposition started out with the part about the need for a well regulated militia. Soooo...we provide the well regulated militia part by having a high school course on basic firearms safety and use. Solves the issues of accidental discharges that people like to complain about. Takes away the novelty so kids don't feel compelled to play with them unsupervised. Helps the military if those kids decide to go that route. And in SD, you get your firearm in the mail once you send in a copy of your completion certificate. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Uh Negative Will Smith played Captain Steven Hiller USMC and his squadron was flying F-18's Woops! You're right. That makes the mistake a little worse. I've been thinking about this thread: I think guns should absolutely be controled in the House of Representatives. Those folks are often wakadoodles. They should never be trusted with firearms. Knives, scissors, silly putty.... I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I would be good with the training they all have to get as part of those RESPONSIBILITIES ... but that is not going to happen in this country. Ummm...the training they get is mandatory military service...but OK. New program: THE AMAZON PLAN! Attend the firearms training course and get a government subsidized firearm for personal defense. Although I like Will Smith as an actor, his 'soul patch' in Independence Day annoyed me. He was an Air Force fighter pilot. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned one of the more obvious things...when hit with any bullet, the recipient tends to fly backwards (sometimes lifted off their feet). Oddly, the equal and opposite reaction does not happen to the one firing the weapon. This interesting suspension of Newton's law happens in movies quite often. I also find it interesting that the shooter who could not miss throughout the movie is unable to hit the bad guy with several shots. The law on this must be related to how unimportant characters die instantly on being hit while stars survive or linger long enough to deliver a few more lines. And if you really like movies with impossible stuff...Mission Impossible 2. Too much to list. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

This is a requirement if they want the advice/assistance of the military. The actor has to have something wrong with the uniform. Yeah, in the older movies there were painfully obvious! These days they make it as subtle as possible, and I'm always checking out Marine uniforms to see what's wrong. It can be as simple as wearing a ribbon upside down or with the wrong device. One good one was on JAG: Catherine Bell usually wore her Marine Corps insignias on her service uniform on the wrong sides (anchors facing outboard). That's correct, it has to be intentionally done. Some are more obvious than others, my theory is that it depends on if they have a good military advisor or just a costume prop person pinning what they think looks cool on the uniforms. I saw two misstatements of fact in a row and had to respond. I hope someone else already caught this, but here it is... 10 USC 771(f) allows wearing of military uniforms by actors in a theatrical production. It is not necessary to make mistakes. They may be making them intentionally, but not because of the law. I suspect they are merely incompetent. Personally, I am only offended that they do not put the effort into wearing it correctly. Within the military, it is considered disrespectful to wear it incorrectly. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Hmmm...from what I hear about the English healthcare system, seems these guys are taking lessons. Sorry about your problems. I'm all for this law...comes with a public financed option, right? Seriously. This is almost what Israel does. Try finding a household that doesn't have a military weapon and multiple people qualified to use it. That's why people have to lob rockets at Israel. You don't dare walk in and start garbage. Buy something with the word Feinwerkbau or Anschutz on it. You'll find the accuracy is fine. But you will spend more than $100. I spent around $1,000 for my daughter's target rifle and $600 for an older spring cocker for myself. They'll put the pellet through the exact same hole all day long. I am all for recording anything done by a public official acting in their official capacity. I think most states' laws would agree. Public records are public. They are derived from the words and actions of public officials. Seems those words and actions should be public. When I was a cop, I bought my own recording equipment and recorded interactions I thought might get dicey. I did this for my own protection. I was an honest cop and had to endure some baseless complaints. I generally agree that only people who are going to do or say something wrong would have a problem with recording. There are always exceptions, but I think those would be for the protection of minors and such. Not for the protection of the person speaking / acting. I really want to agree with you on this. It just seems wrong. But I find that we sometimes expect people to be normal and reasonable; only to find that the person we have been seeing has a totally different idea of what normal and reasonable is. I was married. I found out after we got married that there were a whole host of things we never even thought about. For instance, who is responsible for making sure we have enough money to pay the bills and actually paying the bills? I thought we would do it together (I was so naive). She thought her job was to spend however she wanted and I should figure out where the money would come from. I actually never got her to help me pay bills in almost 20 years of trying. I now think that at least a list of things to discuss in depth could be helpful. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I meant if you had to write something down, you would have put some thought into it. You would be able to talk about things rationally. I didn't mean you ask someone on a date and hand them paperwork to sign. Sheesh! If you know what you want, it might make it easier to keep your heart from making all the decisions. But mostly, I was curious what people thought about putting things in writing at a much later point in a relationship, like living together decision time.
