  1. [replyWhat if I'm a masochist....by denying me the degradation I desire, doesn't that harm me? The quote meant without sadism or violence, my views are not necessarily reflected AND I added it to stop Clay insulting others.... tee hee hee xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
  2. This is kinda embarassing to say but, at one point, my rig was worth the value of my car 7 times over...the best bit was that it wasn't even my car.....
  3. Numbers nine and five of the original list have an element of truth, the details are a little fudged though...
  4. PS Please note the quote refers to encounters that harm and degrade no-one.....no sadist or masochist reference intended... xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
  5. Ever been to Utah? Y'anyways, I used to be a Catholic Youth Minister....After two nationals, a world meet and an 8 month relationship I resigned my post.....
  6. 2(no of international flights): 0:1 (B,C D and star crest finally issued...only took 4 months) (ps Sorry to my bf.....I honestly thought my flight was leavin at 6:55pm instead of 1655....oops. We were preparing for take-off when you called! See you in a month) xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
  7. Well as I know what my weekend will end up being, and I won't get to post it til late next week, I'm posting in advance: 0*:0:1 (International flights without your rig or bf severely inhibit the chances of obtaining a number in either of the first 2 columns) But *indicates that this may change if bf gets off ass and visits me before I go to Europe! 2-Number of times I've moved house before the w/e 1-Number of international flights I've got on (see Helloooo Europe thread) 1-Case of Beer owed for finally getting my star crest, B, C and D licences issued (only taken me 4 months...) On that note, to both Hinton and Langer jumpers, see you next weekend (or the one after)!!!!!
  8. Sal and I used to jump heaps together, if you see her before I do, tell her I love her and I'll see her soon!
  9. Sweety you just ain't trying the right way! The only help I can say is, if you like a girl, go for it. "Everything is sweetened by risk...." if you don't go after something 'coz you're too scared you'll miss out. I've seen the ugliest, meanest guys get the girl because they chased her, they wooed her, and so they GOT her. If that don't work, hit on a girl you at least don't mind.... Failing that, buy a ticket to Oz, they're some "nice" girls your age at the DZ's round here!
  10. Speaking of XXX, who ran off with my photos from WPC?
  11. Black market, set you back enough quid to buy you 25 rigs though!
  12. Jasmin

    Rain dance

Come back to Oz honey, the weather's fine here and we doing lots and lots of jumping!
  13. How is that possible? Is it intentional? How old are you?!!! My last fling had never had her gear checked by a guy and she intended to keep it that way for awhile (invited my bf out for a drink with us and he declined!?!??) but she had an unintentional mal on that one......
  14. I'd have to say the guy who's responsible for my first column entry in the last weekend numbers......he know who he is...... :-P Apart from that, the best sex is always when you're in love, so whomever that description fits for me would be awesome. If we're going for star power, Hugh Jackman is totally yum, and he's an aussie! (And Angelina Jolie isn't bad....)
  15. PS question: where is best to jump in Europe? Secondly: who's up for partying? :-P
  16. I would not exist (my parents met skydiving, it is quite reasonable to assume I was conceived on the DZ or at the local hotel). So I guess you could say skydiving is in my genes! That said, I love snowboarding and abseiling. I used to do a lot of climbing and kayaking. We'd all find something to do, but it still wouldn't be the same!
  17. Yeah baby! Hello Europe. Goodbye Australia! In the interests of public safety (and in the odd chance I don't get to post on this site before I leave) I thought it reasonable to warn all UK, French and Italian jumpers that I will be in Europe from Sunday week. After much deliberation ( about 35 seconds ) I've decided to bring my rig and wreak mass havoc on the place. I'm hoping to jump at Langer and Hinton (as these are the only two DZ's people have bothered to tell me about!). If you went to WPC '99 please do say hello, if you didn't, say hello anyway! Y'anyways, blue skies, I look forward to jumping with y'all.
  18. Back in '97 I had a great time trying to explain to this idiot from airport security at LAX that my altimeter was not a bomb. Thankfully a pilot came through and explained it to this idiot. That said, my rig went through without the cypress circuitry being flagged up as a potential bomb. DItto this year, except they wanted to check the metal of my reserve pilot chute (I unequivocally told em to get *ucked!) and checked it in as 'fragile'. The real test my gf did of airport security was from Colorado to LAX and then to Sydney. They wouldn't let her take the tweezers and nail clippers on in her toiletry bag, but they would let her take her advanced first aid kit on....ie tissue scissors and a thin tissue scalpel among other things. Heightened security, eh? Oh, stuff the ceramic blades, go for the porcelain hand guns with teflon coated rounds!
  19. Go Airspeed, I still loooooooove you guys!!!!! Are there any eloy boys or girls here today?
  20. Only if you'd do it in person! Do I know you? (Not intended as a cheesy P/U line!)
  21. Joe, you? dating the wrong kind of women? Never.....well, except for the last 3 whuffos!!!! ;-) Just kidding! (I'm jealous, can't you tell?!) Date a skydiver, they're more tolerant of your behaviour and your skydiving obsession! (Just adding another $0.02)
  22. Ok, it must be pointed out that I did 31 tandems before I did my AFF, but I had 2 years to kill before they'd legally let me jump, so I honestly didn't have much of a say in the matter. You'd think that, after 2 years and 31 tandems, AFF'd be a walk in the park....but when my Dad drove me out to the DZ that morning, I was shaking from head to toe the whole way there. It all went ok, I went up, did an almost flawless stage 1, sweet canopy control and a stand up landing. AFF first is all good, but a tandem lets you get a feel for the air before you actually go up there with some responsibility. If you freak out on your first go at freefall, you get it out of your system and when you do your AFF you know what to expect. I actually new by muscle memory when it was 45000ft, I still do. I've done one tandem since I did my Aff, and it sacred the shit out of me! I hate having anyone else in control now! Blue skies, good luck, hope to hear soon how your tandem goes. xj ps The "conquering" comments were to see if you really were interested or if you were another whuffo with the kind of attitude that saw a guy, who'd done his stage 1 AFF the weekend before, tell our DZ manifestor, "I've done my AFF now, so I'd like to take my wife for a tandem on the next jump...." ;-P pps Skydiving is not viewable/extreme enough for the X Games, but they loved the idea of having BASE jumping as a demo sport. Pity about the cost of insuring it! Grrrr!
  23. PS You don't conquer skydiving....it conquers you! (Translation: you get over the fear and get addicted to the adrenaline pretty quick...)
  24. Pen and Paper ready? :-P 1) Locate your nearest DZ 2) Try your AFF/static Line/tandem 3) Stop procrastinating and actually do it! If you weren't prepared to do it, you wouldn't have gotten onto this site!! (Seriously, skydivers are the same everywhere, the instructors are almost always awesome and it IS the most fun you can have legally.....!) I met the most awesome people at the DZ during/after my AFF. I now make an effort to meet newer jumpers (B-rel students and late stage Aff-ies) because you remember how nervous you were when you first started jumping. Go out to the DZ, hang around a bit and talk to people, you'll find that the atmosphere at most DZ's is pretty cool. If there isn't a decent feel about the place you'll soon find one that suits after jumping for a short amount of time!!! Y'anyways, unless you're on your way to Australia or Europe I can't help you much other than to wish you luck and tell you to get out there, you won't regret it....
