Can you define "loophole" in this context? I'm pretty sure there is a gun show "exception" of some sort. To term it a "loophole" indicates that it was not intentionally included in the law, and that some of the legislators who voted for the legislation did not do so knowing that the exception existed, and perhaps _only_ because the legislation existed. Can you prove your (unstated) underlying contention that the legislators involved were unaware of this exception? No exceptions. The law is very clear about which transactions need to be made through a licensed dealer, which ones can be made through private parties, which ones need require a background check, and which ones don't. The same laws apply at gun shows that apply outside the show, across the street, etc. HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.

I haven't read all the posts in this thread so mine may repeat what has already been said. In answer to the question, "Is there a gunshow loophole?", I would say "No, there is not". In my humble opinion, for there to be a loophole specific to gunshows, there would have to be some difference in the laws concerning transactions at gunshows vs transactions other than at shows. At the minimum, the laws at gun showes are the same and can be even more strict, depending upon the local laws. A person cannot just walk through the door and "POOF!" the laws suddenly don't apply any longer. Give the student a failing mark since the assignment was one in ballistics, and by failing to demonstrate a correct solution to the problem and missing the professor...he gets an F Why do I get the feeling that you would choose the "shotgun approach" and throw a whole box of shoes ? Fail again. WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF A STUDENT THREW A SHOE AT YOU? Simple question, you look silly avoiding it...And you still get an "F" No Ron, as several people have now pointed out to you, the context is important. Otherwise how can you justify a police shooting? Capital punishment? Armed response to an invasion? You are just making yourself look very foolish (which is your prerogative). Well, I'm back from my 2-week "vacation" from SC. First thing to do...My apologies to Kallend for dropping the F-Bomb on him. I was wrong to do that. Now to the subject at hand. As Kallend pointed out, context is everything here. To throw a shoe at someone who you never saw before and didn't know would be a lot more violent act than throwing a shoe at someone who is beating you to a pulp. I'll volunteer some context for the Prof. What would you do if you gave out a difficult and time consuming assignment to be completed over a holiday weekend, and in response one of your students threw a sneaker at you while calling you a S.O.B.? I didnt want to post until today...I QUIT!
Belgian_Draft replied to floridadiver81's topic in The Bonfire
Way to go! Keep up the will power! I quit in 2000 after 25 years of smoking. It took me several attempts before I found the "trick" that made the difference, one that I will gladly pass on to you and anyone else who is kicking the habit. Remember one thing above all else: If you take so much as one little drag from a cigarette, all your efforts to that point are wasted and you will have officially become a smoker again. NEVER, NEVER, EVER GIVE IN TO THE TEMPTATION!!! You have made it one week, now stretch it to two weeks. The four. Then eight, 16...... You can do it! -
How many have you had before this fish? If it is your first, name him "One". If your second, "Two". Your third, "Three", etc, etc, etc... When I retire I plan on building my own bike. Until then I'll just watch others for ideas and try to control my jealousy. Have you checked out the goods from this shop? Want to pick a country in Africa??? How many innocents have died on the African continent in the last 8 years??? Think we will be going to North Korea anytime soon??? a hell of a lot more people have died there than in Iraq...under Sadaam by far Oh thats right.... NO OIL That's right...no oil. No argument there. But we Americans love our oil. We use more per capita than any other country. We can't get along without it. If the government suddenly stopped importing foreign oil there would be an uprising in this country unlike any since the last Civil War. Yep, oil was the major reason for going into Iraq and lots of people made lots of money over the deal. But here's the kicker....every person in this country was free to invest in those oil compainies and those companies contracted to rebuild and share in the profits. Until the day comes when we are free of our dependence upon foreign oil there will always be the probability of our troops being sent into harms way to keep that oil flowing. The one catch phrase that is totally bogus in this whole deal is "No Blood for Oil". Everything we have in this country, every piece of food, every mile of roadway, every bridge, tunnel, overpass, dam, etc. is paid for with the blood of the men and women who bring it to us. Why would the one commodity that keeps this country moving be any different? Nova's judgment day: Intelligent design on trial

The fact that you are sitting there and discussing the issues is evidence of some sort. Assigning your creative self awareness to a favorable chance combinations of quarks and electrons can't be proved, and is to much of a stretch for me. ... The fact that I am sitting here discussing the issue is only evidence that I have enough awareness and the minimal wisdom required to perform the task. It is in no way evidence of any kind of where either originated. Of course, some will say that in my case both are absent. Don't be overwhelmed by the statistical odds of something as mysterious as life happening just by chance. The fact that we are here shows that, no matter what the odds were against it happening here, it happened. I consider myself agnostic. Though I am not religious by any means, I have not eliminated entirely the chance of there being a Great Creator. The odds are certainly against it, but until it can be disproven (unlikely) it still has to be on the list of possibilities. Waaaay down at the bottom, and getting lower all the time, but it is still there. So the thousand upon thousands of people Saddam was murdering weren't innocent civilians? Do you believe for one second that he would not have continued his slaughter of entire villages just because one resident spoke out against him? What makes us the world police? Nothing. But there wan't any other country lifting a finger to stop that son of a bitch. That very well could be the case. Charisma can go a long way regardless of intent. Billy Graham, Martin Luther King Jr., Charles Manson, Jim Jones all had charisma and a message. It is easy to see, if you take someone with that kind of charisma, add a little David Copperfield magic & illusion, and put them in the time of Jesus life, how they could be seen as something special. Robbie Gordon? Nope. Male possums have a bifurcated penis. That's good because females have a bifurcated vagina. Females also have an average of 13 nipples. Because his wife, Michelle, was the woman Leroy got thumped over. Yep, that's right...her real name is DORIS! They can't have the word get around that Obama met her in a pool hall while two other guys were fighting over her, especially since knives, razors, and guns were involved. False or not, the world is better off without Sadam. The news does not portray it, but the majority of people in Iraq are happy that we "liberated" them. They may or may not not agree with everything we have done, or how we accomplished it, nonetheless. Either way, my view from what I have seen and places I have been, is that the world is better off more now than before. Doesn't matter. If those Kurds couldn't protect themselves from Saddam's gas attacks they deserve to die. Same with those kids that were tortured in front of their parents. Screw 'em if they can't take a little bit of pain. Who is the only person to win Rookie of the Year honors in NASCAR, Indy 500, and USAC? Hint: He raced in both the Indy 500 and the World 600 at Charlotte on the same day, finishing in the top 10 in both races...and did it twice. Some of his picks have been surprising to me, some have not. His pick of Hillary for SoS is a mixed blessing to me. On one hand it puts her in a position of representation to other countries that i would rather see a more moderate person in, but on the other hand it will keep her pretty much out of domestic issues and her inluence in foreign relations will be greatly under check. Overall I think his cabinet is shaping up much better now than I thought it was two weeks ago.
