  1. Here here! Pabst is definitely one of the worst beers I've ever had. I remember sitting in an applebee's in college with a bunch of waiters from another restauraunt. Server brought me a 23 ounce pabst, I took a few sips, then asked her to bring me something else. First time I ever paid for a beer I didn't drink, unless I was trying to get laid As far as Milwalkee's Best is concerned, it's not the taste that bothered me, it was the smell. That shit stinks...... especially when you have 47 of them poured on your head! I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  2. Great info! I appreciate your response. Now I've got a lot more info about how the various AAD's responded in that particular situation. You're right about the bigway part. I've only done 111 jumps in 9 months, and I'm not cocky enough to think I have the skills to fly with hundreds of other jumpers. I think I'm a competent flier for my time in the sport, but at this point I would certainly appreciate having a functioning AAD on any large formation. 25 people on a bigway I can handle comfortably, 300 I cannot. I'm sure with time and experience my comfort level will expand. I guess my concern was that if any conditions did occur where someone is rendered unconsious (which would appear to be more likely on a big way), it would be good to know that their AAD (if they have one), is in working order. There's always the chance no one would have noticed the Cypresses turn off if the Vigils hadn't fired. I can certainly see your argument about misfirings, though. Now, I've got a few more factors to mull over in my head before the next time I jump. Thanks again for the response. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. 3. I can vouch for one of those! To the OP, $90 sounds reasonable. We got lucky at Skyfest and had a pilot who was also a jumper- he managed to get a ton of the loads back to the DZ which I've heard is pretty uncommon. I believe those jumps were $85 and TOTALLY worth it. $90? Do it. Hell, do it twice
  4. Can someone clarify something for me? You guys mentioned that in Thailand the Vigils fired and the Cypresses shut down. Question one How did the Cypresses get reset for use? Did the jumpers reset them, did a technician do it onsite, did they have to be sent to the factory, or were they junked? Question two How did the Cypress owners know that they're units had malfunctioned? - If the Vigils had NOT fired, how would they cypress owners have known they were about to jump a malfunctioning/ shut down unit? With my rig setup, (and many others) it can be quite difficult for someone to see the display and it is not part of my normal pre-jumprun prep check on the plane. If the Cypress units locked up/shut down with no obvious warning to the jumpers, that scares the shit out of me. Especially on a big way. Anyone have any info? 5. DAMNIT! Cheap jump tickets during Auburn's first football game!?!?!?! I'm torn between which one to do. I can understand you Atlanta people skipping out on GT's games..... 'cause they suck Although I'll try to make it to the farm for at least part of this one, I'm afraid that football season might seriously hender my jumptime..... 6. Damnit, I was about to post this. I think the best part is that they're both 23 and they've been dating for 9 years! 14 year old redneck sex anyone? The kids just back that up. This is just the classiest thing ever. The waffle "cake" is the coolest. I know where/how I'm getting married now. I've just got to start popping out kids and encourage my gilrfriend to gain 115 lbs before that day. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  7. Oh, we're talking about TIMES, I thought they meant people. If that's the case I'd say
  8. I'll be there...... and since when does team one have more than one memember? Cheap dives mean more money left over for beer ......and......... more cheap dives!!!! Party at the Farm!!!!! I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  9. I think a nice lineup of exotic aircraft would pull me. I realize turbines are a lot more common at people's home DZ's, but there's still sooooo many things that fly that I'd like to jump out of I hear the WFFC was famous for that. I would strongly consider making the trip if it were hosted again. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  10. HERE HERE! Great poem! It's easier to read the one you wrote after having hear you recite the other one at Skyfest. I can honestly say that standing there with a cold beer in my hand after a great day of skydiving and hearing Jimmy recite the poem was the highlight of my trip. He got the whole crowd cheering at some parts, and booing the FAA, and generally having a great time. I've never seen people get that into a poem before. It's almost worth the trip just to hear it again next year! (BTW, I'll definitely be there) Jimmy, it was great meeting you and your wife. You were both a pleasure to talk to. Thanks for the great pictures, and the great skydives! I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  11. What they said. It's 100% your choice with how long to fight a mal because it's 100% your ass on the line, and no one elses. Definitely have a hard deck in mind and stick with it! If you can't clear the problem, get rid of it. Good job on fixing the problem. Just make sure you're prepared to cut away if you can't fix the problem by your hard deck. A nuisance becomes a malfunction at that time. It can be very easy to say: just one more thing, let me just do this, almost got it..... untill you coast lower than you should. (Being the hundred jump wonder that I am, my hard deck is 350 feet. I wouldn't recomend that though, I've got catlike reflexes and the speed of a mongoose!) 12. Hmmmmmm, so if you don't pull 'till 1200 ft you'll get more time to track.... interesting I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  13. The guy who did the Poem Saturday night was doing outside video on at least half the SCR's. I got some stills from him, and I'm pretty sure he took video as well. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  14. Looks like I win the jump game with my 22 jumps with 5 being free. Ummm, maybe me getting there Tuesday night helped I almost forgot, I wanted to let you guys in on something that happened to me during Skyfest- I already mentioned this one my "Newest Skygod" post. Not sure if this happened to anyone else, but.... I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251

  16. I did my first balloon & Heli jumps this weekend as well. Did the Balloon Friday morning and I can say the whole thing was an incredible experience. From watching them set up and inflate the balloon, rising off the ground, floating silently through the air.... everything about it was cool. I had this HUGE smile on my face the whole time. The helicopter on saturday was cool, too. I enjoyed zipping around the airport and low over trees, and being able to stick my head out to look at the groud without being hit by 100 mph winds was nice. He told us we were gonna jump at 5000, so when he told us to get on the skids at 4200 I was like, "now?" He said yes, I swung down to the skid and just dangled there untill a buddy exited on his back, then I let go and geeked the camera before rolling over and tracking away. Very cool experience. I got super lucky with the balloon as we went just above 6000 when we jumped. Made for the world's longest freefall from 6 grand (or so it seemed). I will definitely do a balloon jumps again. And again. And again....
  17. At first I thought that could be a possibility, but once they started turning to brass, I knew it wasn't. So here I am, the proud new owner of some big brass balls. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  18. I just wanted to share with everyone a before and after picture of myself once I became a Skygod. These images have not been doctored in any way, this is simply the transformation that took place during that time. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  19. I say we all shit in a paper bag, light it on fire, and knock on the skyride owners' doors. Then we laugh when they stomp out the flame and step in poo. Yeah...... that'll teach 'em. I hate that this is many people's first introduction to skydiving. Getting hosed on the price & location of their tandem. Hell, if I had been forced to drive 8 hours to jump I'd just let the 220 go. And then I would never even consider a skydive again- because that community in general would seem crooked. That's what skyride wants, 100% profit. Fuck the people or the reputation the sport gets, they already have the money. Problem is they are reeeaaaalllyyy good at marketing. I'm new to this sport and this issue, but if I'd been burned like this I would have said F*ck that sport and never looked back. As it turns out, I got lined up with decent people. Now I'll probabaly clear 175 jumps my first year in the sport. Now what's more profitable? $220 one time from some random internet buyer, or a potential dedicated skydiver spending $4200 on lift tickets, buying new gear, jumpsuits, rigs, rental fees, etc- all of which the DZ has a chance to reap the benefits of. I understand their angle here, but roping in new serious skydivers can also help reap profits----- in a positive way where everyone wins. I guess we're just beating a dead horse with this issue. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  20. Funny that you should mention that. I actually got to chew on two shaving cream pies curtousy of the folks at Skydive Atlanta. Even though I haven't jumped with those guys in a few months, it seems they wanted to let me know I was still cool with them. And by cool I mean they took it upon themselves to make sure the shaving cream went slightly up my nose during the pieing process. Next time I go there I'll have to "thank" Gerald for running inteference while I was ambushed. That's okay though, I'll make sure to pie curious george the monkey when he reaches his 100. (Better watch your back George) I'm glad I had the pleasure of being pied by those guys. After all, they did put up with me through my first 52 jumps. Hmmmm, I just realized that I can now trust no one at Skydive the Farm. I have the sneaking suspision that someone might try to attack me with some sort of pie-like food product. Beware, I have cat-like reflexes and the speed of a mongoose. You'll never catch me! Besides, I don't think that double pieings are USPA approved I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  21. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you, newest Skygod, for taking time out of your busy schedule to jump with me this weekend. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He is "the man" that has to be introduced TWICE!!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- tmaricle55- That's right, I am "the man." I must've found someone cooler to talk to. Hey everyone, I'd like you to meet Adam......... Adam.....Adam?...... where'd he go? Seriously, you were very cool to hang out with. Couldn't have frozen my ass off during the initiation without ya. micduran- I'm sure it was a pleasure for you to jump with me. It always is. I just hope some of my skillz rubbed off on you. It was funny when someone introduced you to me. You had this sort of strange look on your face. I guess that's what happens when I'm sweating like a pig, haven't shaved in four days, only got 3 1/2 hours of sleep, can't hear anything, and am sunburned beyond recognition. I think I looked like a homeless person on meth. Ahhhh, but that's what boogies are all about. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  22. Here's a rundown of my trip: Days attended: Tuesday- Sunday Jumps made: 22 FREE jumps made: 5 Balloon Jump: 1 Helli Jump: 1 CASA Jumps: 12 Otter Jumps: 8 Was I the only one who was walking around like a zombie in the 106 temperature? I'm surprised any of us were able to function in that kind of heat. Putting on a jumpsuit and getting into the CASA that the FAA had baking in the sun for an hour was like stepping into an oven. Everyone trooped it up, that is everyone except for Dangeroo. Although she was cute, she made up some sort of "I don't have a rig so I can't skydive" story. Like you need a parachute to skydive. That's just silly SCR's went well, I think there was about 17 initiates. I got my SCS too
  23. THE DON will be doing official altimiter checks at 12000 feet, BEWARE. He got me I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  24. Okay, as a 27 year old male I have to say it- KATIE's HOT!!! Okay, there, I said it
