I know that the day of the jumps your body can simply run out of gas due to all the adrenaline that was pumping through your body earlier. It can leave you feeling drained even the next day. I remember going through AFF and probably through my first 75 jumps skydiving was all I thought about. It was consuming and I wasn't happy unless I was at the DZ, gearing up for a jump. Then I went to Skyfest and jumped 22 times in 4 days, and it kinda went away. I still love jumping, but it's not all consuming anymore. Funny that happened right after I hit jump number 100. I think it's called complacency. Yep, you'll achieve it one day! j/k It really does ease up after you get more jumps in, but I don't think it'll ever go away. Yep, you're screwed now! You're an addict I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251

Well, I got my first night jump in this Saturday. Pretty awsome stuff! Did a two way with a much more experienced jumper and we had a blast. We had a 4 or 5 point dive flow and finished it at 10 grand. Spent the rest of the time geeking each other, staring at the moon, clouds, and the cities underneath us and miles and miles away. Very Cool. Of course the two girls beside me on the plane that jumped out topless behind us didn't hurt the experience either We used strobes mounted on our webbing facing toward our backs we activated under canopy. Had two glowsticks on my helmet, and once under canopy, one in my mouth Didn't carry a flashlight, just felt the canopy fly with all the usual controlability checks. Any doubts? Get rid of it. We staggered the deployment altitudes by at least 500 feet, and dropped off jumpers in 3 groups with 2 passes for each group. Carried cell phones for any out landings- mandatory check in once on the ground. Linded cars up on the LZ angled with their lights in the direction we were landing (to show the way and avoid blinding us). I landed just short of the lit area, made for a very interesting flare. (Ummmm, now?!) But landed on my feet. Worked out fine and everyone landed great. I was the second one on the ground so I was halfway done with my 40 by the time the last person touched down

Are you always nervous when you jump?
Sletzer replied to npgraphicdesign's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Am I the only one who gets a few extra pumps of the heart when I unstow my breaks? For some reason I just do. I usually get nervous right before I first suit up after a layoff, then it goes away when I'm getting on the plane. Getting out of the plane is always a relief. The only other time I'm nervous is before I'm on a big dive and other are counting on me. Nerves do come and go though. I get a little twitchy at opening time sometimes. I just try to breath and be ready to react if neccesary. It does get better though! -
They're going to do them this Saturday at Skydive Atlanta, weather permitting. It looks like it might be cloudy unitll around 10:30 p.m. DZO said they had all the strobes and whatnot. I guess I'll just take my happy ass out there and see what this night jumping business is all about. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Bikini and Lingerie Jumps!!! At ASC
Sletzer replied to caligirl39385's topic in Events & Places to Jump
That's what it sounds like to me too It doesn't say you have to be a female. I can see it now, a bunch of dudes in bananna hammocks all crunched together in the plane for cheap jumps I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251 -
There's a reason I put "innocents" in quotations. But I still hate to see people get killed in the crossfire. I guess like one guy said though, if they weren't there, they wouldn't get caught up in it. Not a bad point ..... I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Another unfortunate side affect of what you are saying is that regular Mexicans trying to get into the US have to be initially approched as hostile combatants by the Border Patrol. That could lead to situations where regular illegal immigrants could be harmed. It is always shitty to see the "innocents" get mixed up in the mess. This article focuses on them hitting competing Cartels in the US--- hopefully they don't start targetting our regular police forces on this side of the border. That could get NASTY. And from what I'm hearing it might be heading that way right now. What a mess. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251

Hahaha- Yeah I do have a girlfriend, so I won't be trolling for ass in Auburn that weekend. At least not once she get's here . j/k I'm planning on watching college football all day Saturday, then staying at The Farm Sunday & Monday & jumping my ass off. Turns out she's wanting to do a tandem then, so she'll probably come along. I know not of this "Joe" you speak of, but it should be interesting to see. I've only jumped 5 times since skyfest so I NEED MY FIX. I'm going to try and pack in some serious jump time. Anyone up for some big way jumps, horny gorillaz, or high altitude hop and pops? I'm game for just about anything (in the air) Maybe I'll run into you at a tailgate this upcoming weekend. I'll be the guy staggering around with a bottle of southern comfort/ passed out under a car. Oh wait, that's the description of everyone at college football tailgates! Should be a fun weekend. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. First album was incredible, they dipped off a bit in between, but the new album rocks! They've always had a few good songs on each album, but it's nice to see them produce a rock solid set of songs for the first time in a long time. That being said, I still love the Foo! This is, in my opinion, one of the best videos of all time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4H0BMfqFP9c I love the Evil dead refrences in it. All around great band. Grohl has contributed to so many different groups it is rediculous. Like I said, glad to see them rock harder than they have in a long time. Hells yeah! Anyone know if they're running a tandem special that weekend? I've got a few friends I'd love to have an excuse to drag out there. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251 -
Why do some jumpers think it is okay to lean on others in the jump plane?
Sletzer replied to AdamLanes's topic in The Bonfire
I have to agree with you there, altough I know nothing about tandems Was doing a high altitude hop n pop with two other guys way out from the DZ so we were closer to the pilot than the tandems on the plane. It was an otter with a full load of 23 jumpers. They yelled for the usual "make room for the tandems." When all was said and done they had more than enough room and we even got to stretch out a bit behind them. I guess people at The Farm are real comfortable with each other I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251 -

Oh God. That's the last thing that needs to come out his mouth. (But who knows?) I had to post this article. The guys demeanor really disturbed me, and the fact that someone's life could end so randomly and horribly bothered me as well. Not to mention this article made me angry.... that someone could do this, that he wasn't stopped, that the guy didn't even have a chance to defend his life. Like I said, this was a fucked up newsfeed. I'm not aware of the current laws in Canada, but this seems like the kind of cruel and heartless act that deserves capital punishment.... but that's another debate. I thought this article might stir up some emotions. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251

Someone told me to buckle my helmet strap right before I ran out of a CASA. He didn't make a big deal about it, just told me "hey, you're gonna loose your helmet. Might wanna buckle that" I told him thanks and off we went. Nothing else needed to be said and a big deal wasn't made. Sure, someone might mess with you over a beer later on, but at the moment the problem was addressed and then it was business time. Everyone can make silly mistakes, and sometimes serious ones. I, for one, appreciate the way in which we try to look out for one another. I'll never mind someone helping me out with a gear issue. I also agree with Jimmy, just try not to be a dick about it I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
