  1. Just letting you guys know they're putting up an early load @ 11 a.m. on Friday, April 11th if anyone wants to join. I've got two buddies going tandem for a Bachelor party jump- so that's 5 people including me and the TMs. How 'bout we fill up the plane?
  2. I'm in, anyone want to carpool from The Farm or Skydive ATL, or even Atlanta for that matter? I'm coming from Auburn, AL- but more people= cheaper trip
  3. okay, you said it. I'll park my happy ass in the pond while landing. If I live, I pass? I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  4. *sigh* if only I knew you guys..... and had more than 50 jumps I hear the girls in sweeden are nice this time of year I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  5. Wouldn't the pilot feel a change in control having someone back there? I guess you'd have to tell him first, but then he might say no..... So just do it and hope he can compensate for the 5-10 seconds you're up there. Or just not do it at all..... oh nevermind. It's just that I heard a DZ pilot say that on certain aircraft (like a Super King Air) if you put a 5 lb weight on the top of the tail, it basically wouldn't fly because of the stability problems. Seems that guy was pretty close.... I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  6. I second that motion. I need the training and if you want you can even throw me in the pond while I'm sleeping. Anything to get my B to do night jumps! Come to think of it, don't throw me in the pond while I'm sleeping- that would suck. Good thing no one knows what I look like...... except for Jack. DOH! In case you're wondering, I will not be the guy wearing a fake mustache and sombrero. Please just ignore that guy. Thank you. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  7. Awwww! Good one I suppose I could just jump a 200 and land on one foot I'll come Sunday either way. So there!
  8. I'm getting all pumped about this weekend then I sprain my ankle playing raquetball last night WTF is up with that? I hope it heals in the next few days, or I am NOT going to be happy. I realize raquetball is an agressive indoor sport sport, but I've never so much as sratched my finger skydiving. Just doesn't seem right. I'd almost rather have a cool story to go with the injury Hopefully I'll still be able to make it. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  9. My third pack job- had learned two weeks before when I had packed & jumped it twice. Two weeks later I show up and jump, proceed to pack (er, do I flake here?) was a little rusty but I remembered all the steps and got it in the bag first try. Now we go to me closing the flaps. I remembered the "father son holy ghost" catholic cross and thought up, down, left, right. Didn't remember I had decided it was KINDA like the catholic cross two weeks before and realy should be down, up, left, right (Javelin) A very experienced jumper gives me a pin check (the pin was in ) then I'm off to the plane. Exit solo at 14K, track 10 seconds, front flip, front flip, what the hell is beating on my back? Oh, that's just the bag out of the container getting tossed around ... wait a sec! Reach for PC, bam, under canopy at 10K. The force of the air on the bag deployed my PC before I could get my hand on it. I had a great view of the groups before & after me diving and deploying a mile below me Pretty much a horseshoe mal, albeit a short one. On the good side, I had planned to do canopy stalls, and I had PLENTY of time to do a series of stalls, then eveything else I could think of. The best we can figure the airflow from the two flips somehow caught the top flap and pushed it open enough to release the pin, releasing the bag. I'm just glad I was pre- "A" license (@20 jumps) and was going solo. Imagine a group dive with that happening..... I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. 10. I'll be there Sat & Sunday. Do you guys have the "don't pass out with your shoes on" rule at the Farm? I'll probably wake up in the middle of the field or something so just checking I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  11. No one said it couldn't be done, I just asked for other people's experiences. I'm glad you think it's not a big deal for S/L students, good for you. I'm assuming your first H&P went well, also good for you. S/L and AFF students take two very different paths to reach the same goal. For a S/L student the first H&P might be a piece of cake whereas their first jump from 14K might rattle them a bit. AFF students have no problem freefalling for 70 seconds before a pull- which they usually do high so about 5K-5500. To many of them exiting and pulling @ 3000 is REALLY low because that's way closer to the ground than they've ever been during free fall. Once you're mind gets used to "the ground looks this big when I need to pull" it's a little strange to wait & deploy when everythings twice as big in your eyes..... Regardless, this isn't supposed to be a thread about "can it be done." Obviously it can and looking at the poll numbers most people's H&Ps have gone just fine "like butter, smooth & silky." But there are also those who's first H&P experience was a little more interesting, with some being downright scary. The point of this thread was for people to mention their experience: good or bad, exciting or scary, whatever. It's always nice to hear your opinion on how it should be easy though. Thanks for that. 12. I wonder what percentage of jumpers have gotten speeding tickets on the way to the DZ? I'm guessing it's pretty high. I got one my second year of jumping. I was within ten minutes of the DZ, and I saw a Cessna flying around. While I was trying to figure out if it was one of the DZ planes, the occupants of the plane were busy clocking my speed, and calling the tropper on the side of the road 1/2 mile ahead telling him to pull me over for speeding. That was the first of probably 5 or 6 tickets I've gotten on the way to the DZ. You ain't a skydiver if you haven't been busted for speeding on the way to the DZ! I can remember at least 5 myself. I've also gotten two warnings, but those were on my way home. Yeah, I can deal with paying for a ticket or two on the way TO the DZ, I'm just worried about getting pulled over FROM the DZ after 4 beers at the DZ and three in the car....... if ya know what I mean. BTW kids, don't drink and drive I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  13. I bought "Man in Dive Over Snohomish, WA" in 56 X 42 and had it framed (and no I'm not kidding) There's no pixelation even at that size- looks incredible! I've gotten a lot of compliments on it. I've also had a lot of "is that you!" to which my repsonse varies from person to person, and how hot they are I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  14. OICU812 Figure this one out But this one has more to do with drugs than skydiving......
  15. Are Skydive Atlanta jumpers allowed or should I just sneak in?...... f*ck it, I'm coming anyway! Wohooo! edited to say- I meant I'm coming to the boogie, not to your camper- sorry to dissapoint.... I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  16. Now THAT'S funny! I'm going to use that one when I downsize from my 170 to an 84 when I hit 100 jumps I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  17. You're going to have to ask the packers to stop crocheting your lines during your packjobs BTW, that's scary shit. Easy to tell pretty fast that isn't gonna just work itself out... P.S. Crotchet is like knitting. It has nothing to do with anyone's crotch I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  18. If anyone can dig up a video of that it would be cool to see
  19. I live 96.80 miles from my home DZ. Mapquest says it takes 1 hour 55 minutes, I normally make it in 1 hour 25 minutes (Still waiting on that first ticket...) Hate to say it but there's actually a DZ 14 miles from my house, but it's a small DZ with two 182's and I didn't want to do a static line progression when starting out. I've gotten spoiled by 8 minutes to 14K, but once I have my own rig I'll hit up to local DZ and see what it's all about. Untill I did this post I didn't realize that DZ was so close to my house. Hmmmmm... I could almost go jump during my lunch break
  20. You're more experienced than me, but there was a study by PD that shows that a signifigant difference in reserve and main sizes can be a serious problem in the case of a two out senario. Something like a 190 main to a 250 reserve sounds awfully varied, and could cause the type of problems the PD guys reference. A link to the article is here: http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/dualsq.pdf I think it's good reading for deciding main/reserve canopy size ratios, as well as showing great information on what to do in a two out scenario. I've formed my personal reaction plans largely based on this study, and the resulting talk with the more experienced jumpers at my DZ. To the OP: Bottom line, you shouldn't get a reserve WAY bigger than a main- and that's coming from the PD guys. Definately read the article and form your own opinions. 21. I was waiting for that one. Great film. I'm surprised no one has said Vampire Hunter D or Ninja Scrolls yet. ALong with Akira, those are considered classics by my brother who is a huge Anime fan. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251

  23. That is freakin hilarious! I wouldn't do it either, but...... I love the way the cat looks at the door all calm & curious like untill it hits the airflow, then starts frantically trying to get away. I'm just upset that no one jumped out floater video to get the exit & freefall footage I mean, if you're gonna do it at least film the whole damn thing! I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  24. Awsome, I actually started clapping when it was over. I'll have to go buy a case of this beer just for that commercial! I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
  25. Great point, but how long does a rig re-size take? Probably a few weeks? Looks like unless you find a decent fitting rig you're going to be waiting either way, or just be unconfortable.... Then again, rigs that don't perfectly fit me are all I'm used to right now. (I'm sure that's true with most students and non-rig owning jumpers) I think I could deal with most any rig as long as it fits securely. You guys with custom rigs are just spoiled I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
