Hi Normiss Some folks just can't let it go, even going to the extreme of hireing a lawyer at a hourly rate. Knowing that the peeps he's sueing will also have to waste their $$$$ on their own lawyers to defend themselves. We watched a mcnasty at a DZ in Wa State devote 10+ yr's of his life trying to get even with the DZ. FAA on speed dial, videoing all T/O and landings, Putting the TV news in contact with a old man that had lost his son, Flying his own airplane over the DZ during jump run etc etc. After the DZ incured significant $$$ legal bills they finally cut their losses & found another airport 60 miles away and built a bigger and better operation (IMO). Mcnasty devoted 10+ yr's of his life 24/7 just to get even Did he win He wasted 10 yr's for what? Win lose. Reminds me of a nasty divorce with kids involved. The kids lose and one party will get their jollies getting even until the kids can move out on their own. One Jump Wonder

Personal Responsibility in Jumping
Krip replied to norcalgeargirl's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hi NCGG Talk about a DZ taking a double hit. $$$ & boobs walking out the door The poor thing didn't even make it out to the DZ to see that the odds were 10 to 1 in her favor in the male dominated hard body sport. Shame shame NCGG if a guy had shown the same video he would have been more understanding of the Boobies/$ initial reaction & comforted her as much as she would let him. Then her male instuctor would start dating her and another natural skydiver would have found her nich. Thats also part of the reality of the sport. Anyone want to deny it? One Jump Wonder -
Hi ZZ Contact DZ trade organization.

This "everybody" term has been used pretty loosely today. The fact is that I will pick and choose whos feet I wash - and that is all there is to it. You can line up if you want to - I will say yes or no to you. I might not say why if it's "No", but be calm and considerate and leave quietly.

Hi The cost/gal and mpg is only 2/3 of the equation. The missing part of the equation is how may Miles/km you have to drive to get to work etc. One Jump Wonder

How many of you don't jump in the cold weather?
Krip replied to npgraphicdesign's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The cold hand thing is a bitch when you think about it after opening your hands are on your breaks above your head and get the least aount of blood. Any dr's out there. My hands were stinging even after landing. Sso we have to adapt. Open canopy get it on heading release the toggles breaks whatever and put you hands in you armpits. when you get closer to the ground go back to the breaks. Think Ks winter no facilities packing in the snow etc. As long as you dress for success it's doable. Don't forgot to practice your EP's with all the extra cloth's and bulky gloves. FWIW we were jumping from 7.5K One Jump Wonder -
1968 Almost back in the day jumps were inxpensive. fjc was inexpensive, gear was inexpensive. packing classses were free etc. The experience level was low,, no packers & no sky gods. The airplanes were mostly cessna's with a 400'/min rate of climb. There were no facilities except a plane, & a sod runway, Our learning curve was steep and slow. 100 jumps /yr. This was whwn jumping aka skydiving was a sport, Uspa was a jumper org rather than a industry trade group. In spite of the lack of facilities jumping was not a seasonal sport. Don't understand the rush to pump up the jump numbers. Suggest a minimum of 100 jumps/yr to stay current, but under the present conditions your talking big $$$ The origional R.I.P. Just the way it was, and it was fun! The origional R.I.P.

Hi T2 Open at whatever altitude you feel comfortable at. When you start doing RW some peeps might give you the "Look " because your cutting into their play time. Screw them. When the turbo's started flying instead of a 12.5 max altitude 13 -14 k becme the norm. A wise man named Jerry Bird siad we're giving you the extra altitude at the top no reason to take it off the bottom. Personally We were still opening at 2k, just gotta know your gear and have your shit together for EP's. Cross countrry jumps can be fun, but beware of the field elevation and exit altitude. Field elevation of 3-5k. Exit altitude of 14 K thats 17- 19 k MSL. There's also the added challenge of different wind direction and speeds at different altitudes. Back in the day we screwed up sitting in the saddle way to high on a round canopy. Boring..... Folks on the ground didn't know where I was. Eventually we landed in the peas. Lucked out It was a no wind day

Won't work at a boogie. Thin gear check and reserve packing card. I think a local DZ in Wa state was the first to turn into a tandem mill. The fun jumpers were wineing about having to wait on all the tandems DZO was subtle he required all jumpers to have a AAD. It stoped the wineing. The fun jumpers left. The origional R.I.P. Hi BSBD Your post said "Freefall Express implemented a change in the pricing structure to eliminate inefficiencies in loading and flying the aircraft." While it sounds innocent enough it raised a red flag for me. Full disclosure I don't have a dog in this fight, don't jump anymore etc won't be going to florida etc. I was there when George Kabella tried very hard to do exactly what BW wants "Freefall Express implemented a change in the pricing structure to eliminate inefficiencies in loading and flying the aircraft. On the 15 minute call all peeps had to be geared up waiting for the plane in the hot florida sun. When the plane landed jumpers were stongly encouraged to Run to the airplane. The plane started it's TO roll before everyone was even seated. Please don't ask about seat belts or having a few people from the back of the plane walk to the front and stand up on T.O. due to CG issues" I was one of those idiots standing up next to the pilot looking at the windshield OTOH skydive was more jumper friendly. No waiting in the hot sun, no running to the airplane. We had 2 LO's for walk up loads for different experience levels and free video. Standing up on T.O. was still the standard in the sport. No When eloy ges to LP for Boogie they want you next to the runway so the plane doesn't have to wait for the slow pokes. But they also provide shade and water in the waiting area (Thank you Larry Hill and Mr Burke, and Fred Sands) Now everyone has to wear a seatbelt on T.O. thats a good thing, but a bunch of skydiver paid with their lives for that change due to the tragedy at Perris. Can't stand up on T.O when your wearing a seat belt so the CG issue was BS unless in a effort to eliminate the ineffiency off haveing to refuel too often or it helped the rate of climb on T.O. How many jumpers can fit on a a airplane? Regardless of the size of the plane at least one more to make it uncomfortable for the jumpers and efficient for the DZ. We're not just talking cessna's all the way up to the 727 and c-130's. Proper use of the english language (and spelling) works wonders. FWIW Sometime after TK took over Z-hills eliminated one LO, free video was eliminated and the remaining LO collected a $1 from the peeps on his load. If you have to feed your habit that you have to pay the price and take what ever crap they throw at you. The originial R.I.P.

I think that when the sq's first came out the risers had a adjustable strap to compensate for some kind of a trim issue that may cause a built in turn. No reason to return the canopy to the factory the problem could be fixed in the field. The rumors in Ks/Mo around the firepit was that all the suspension lines had to be cut at the same time under thee exact same conditions: humdity, temp and tension. We gotta keep up with the new generation politically correct and all that BS How about calling the old sqs the first generation of sq's, or origiona sq's. Old sq's what does that make us beside old farts. BTW I like being able to get older and older at least for now.

Hi NG Took the CPR refresher class two years ago at the local FD. Found out No puffing required just 60 compressions/minute and don't stop just because you get tired. We were practicing on the CPR dummies so we had to pump hard to get compression. I think I was good for two minutes A CPR refresher is well worth the time. Our local FD does it for free and will schedual a class for 10 or more people. We lurked the FD and got in a class in about 2 weeks. Might be someting to consider for safety day at the DZ. Hi BV Yep all you said is true except "back in the day"(aka pre BV ) that stuff was mosltly restricted to the east and west coast, and without the internet everything was a rumor. BTW you left out adultry, divorce, bare knuckle fighting sabatoged airplanes. All of these events are minor in the big picture except to the people who died and their loved ones that will never forget. One Jump Wonder

Hi AD Whats facebook The press would have a hard time finding a pic of me. AS a LEO you've got a tough job trying to figure out when you pull someone over who the bad guy's are. Based on my past. present and future appearence and the beaters I drive I assume that I'll get pulled over at any time. So I just keep my hand on the steering wheel and smile. I'm still looking fwd to my first cavity search. There is one pic of me at the brew house in montana with Joels mom that shows my good side. Valinda Mitchell might have a copy. One Jump Wonder

Bullshit. ALL cops are fine, outstanding, law abiding citizens... Right...... Cops are human like everyone else. We live in a town of about 10k. about 5 yr's ago the chief of police of Tacoma executed his wife in a strip mall in front of his little kids and then shot himself in the head. (5 miles from my house) This year a sheriff's deputy that lived about 1 mile from my house executed his mother and father in law and then killed himself. The LEO's have a tough job, and sometimes they crack and blead like everyone else. ...on some other planet, I'm sure. One Jump Wonder

Hi SS & Pops WTF is a understatement I'm very disappointed to hear that crap like this is going on. If what the OP says is true it's beyond HS more like the boys from the hood with their forties. There's a code of silence in the hood/prison, Rats die Now that the sport has turned into a industry the money is making people do things that didn't happen when jumping was a sport. Want to be a skydiver? Do one tandem get the video, go home and show it to all your friends. It's a lot safer and less expensive than dealing with the industry and their trade group. One Jump Wonder
