i'm ok with that. if it costs less to keep someone in prison for life, then fuck the death penalty. I agree fuck the threat of the death penalty. Being executed 20-30 yr's after sentencing is a joke. As soon as we're born we're all facing a "death penalty" Life in prison without parole is a very slow, nasty neighbors, shity food and gov't houseing no job advancement , cavity search every day, very slow death penalty. OTOH the people in prison do have access to their gods and get to look for relief from their living hell once they accept god, die and go to heaven. To bad some of them feel heaven can't come soon enough. One Jump Wonder

Contracts are only as good as the lawyers hired to enforce them. Poor performance does not require a bonus. Paying a performance bonus to the people that are directly responsiable for the failure of AIG and a $150,000,000 gov't bailout is sending the wrong message Rather than paying a bonus to these poor excuse's for the best and brightest. They should be given a 30 day termination notice and in 30 days salary should be terminated. Like any other employee that can't do their job. Let these failures collect unemployment instead of a bonus.

Average price to assemble a new rig
Krip replied to regulator's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Boy, I had to look that one up. It was jump number 10. Been packing my own ever since almost every jump. I spluge on a packer once in a while IF I know and trust the packer. Grandma I may be............ helpless I'm not. Hi Granny You got 3 strikes against you Your a grandma, a girl, and a lady Jumped you own packjob on skydive #10. Damn I didn't even have to take my shoes off to count that high. Granny Weren't you scared in case you made a packing error and your parachute didn't open correctly and got broken or something. One a serious note FWIW Packers are worth their weight in gold, if your at a boogie & want to make back to loads, temps are to high, hung over or just tired. To bad all packers weren't created equal. Buyer beware and don't complain if your not happy, just roll your own. -
Didn't see the Cayman Islands on the list. That's a pretty big hole in the strategy. Thanks for the tip

Average price to assemble a new rig

If someone else is packing your rig, how do you expect to learn. You will be far off if you have someone watch your packing until you are more confident in your abilities that if you pay someone else to pack it. -
Americans, not politicians, hold power to change Iraq war
Krip replied to jkm2500's topic in Speakers Corner
That is not true. At least in the middle east. Read some history - we suffered attack after attack and did nothing substantial in return. 9/11 was the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak. Ummm, what version of history is being studied in your schools mate? The US has had a constant policy of interference in all areas of the middle and far east as a result of the cold war and its policy or resisting the spread of communism. Deposing the Shah of Iran Arming Iraq in the 70's & 80's Covertly arming Iran too during the Iraq/Iran war Arming the mudjahideen in Afghanistan Troop deployments to Lebanon Constant support for Israel Troop deployment and training in Saudi Arabia ... I could go on. Mr Bounce Congrats you have gotten to the root of the problem We're not taught history in school we're fed propaganda by the history books and the media. Some people belive it, some profit by it and others don't care. We were brainwashed that the Viet nam war was necessary due to the domino theory. The terrorist threat is just a spin on the same bs excuse. We are already repeating the mistreatment of some of our injured vets returning from the middle east just like we did with the vets for SEA. Don't waste your breath trying to debate the issue in SC it's like trying to teach a pig how to sing. If you try and teach a pig how to sing the only thing you will accomplish is to piss off the pig and get pig shit all over yourself Very sad situation -
Average price to assemble a new rig
Krip replied to regulator's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hi Got you Not even RAPLH can really sell a complete brand new rig for $3k. I was lowballing you by 50% WAG Me bad about the $5 for the rigger. I've got a bad case of OLD. IMO most packers are priceless and work their butts off for the $5. Use them if you need to, but sooner or later your going to have to take off the training wheels and jump your own pack jobs. t Some folks pack on their own or under supervision at a very early point in their jumping career. A lot will depend on the vibes on your DZ and your attitude. Might want to start a thread or poll on the subject to find out: "When did you start jumping your own pack "jobs . You might be surprised at the results. Beware of the wise ass got you's -

Average price to assemble a new rig

Say what Your spending $3,000 for a new rig and your worrying about spending a extra $5 for your rigger. The $5 is chump change and won't even change the minimum monthly payments on your credit card bill. If your rigger is good at what he does he's your best friend, works his ass off for the money he's paid. Don't try and short change him. Or the next time you need something from him right away you may find out he's very busy. Enjoy your gear, jump your ass off, don't sweat the credit card. Jumping is a expensive extreme sport. Calling politicans hypocrites (right left blue red)is like calling a prostitute a whore. Politicans do what they do why are you surprised Stop resisting

You're displaying your ignorance about guns. Again. Rifles are designed for long range accuracy, but are heavy and bulky to carry on your person. Handguns are designed for short range accuracy, and are easy to carry on your person. They are different tools designed for different purposes. Saying that handguns are inaccurate is incorrect, because they serve their function quite well at short range, such as at 25 yards or less. That's why law enforcement officers use them, because those are the distances at which they most often need a firearm for self defense. And they are accurate enough at those distances to serve that function quite well. Thousands of civilians use handguns every year in self defense also - newspapers nationwide carry such stories daily. So in short: You're wrong about handguns being inaccurate and useless. Hi JR Its hard to s dicuss this subject with experts know everything there is to know about firearms I think your over bending the facts to ptove your point. I've reaad that most handgun encounters are a lot closer than 25 yds. You know the exact number better than I do so i"m sure you'll correct my WAG. Most handgun encounters occur in the 10-15 FT range with a target hit rate of 30%. We're talking real life and death situations where the bad people are shooting at the police. Not shooting holes in paper at the range. I agree handguns have their place, for the reasons you stated but the 25 yd range your talking about is streatching the facts a little like all guy's are packing 12", LEO carry handguns for the quick ad dirty but carry their shotguns and long rifles in their partrol cars. If they know in advance that they are going to be getting into a shootout or a call turns upside down, I'm guessing the pump action shotgun or Long rifles are coming out. If a LEO call turns sideways the police can use their handguns to fight their way back to their car for their long guns and call for back up, I'm not in LEO and neither are you but LEO does follow protocal and SOP's for different situations I'd like to hear from someone in LEO What tools they use for different distances and number of perps. I'm guessing handgun @ 25 yds is . Remember the well documented shootout with the chase bro's.sp? caught on the police dash cam. 2 LEO's and 2 perps shooting it out face to face with handguns a lot closer than 25 yds maybe 10 Ft and 20=30 shots and ZERO hits. Home protection: Alot of people rely on their handguns. Screw that handgun crap:12 ga shotgun 181/2" barrel even with the pucker factor low light etc I think most people can hit their bedroom door from any corner in the bed room with 00 buckshot, Handguns have their place and we have the right to defend ourselves but you got to have the right tool for the job. I think your doing a diservice with the 25yd legend. Flame away

Really, I can see adjusters on the main lift web, it's been a long time since I ve seen anything like that except for student rigs. So was that a SST (pre-Racer) ? The main ripcord looks like the old plastic handles the SST had, though the reserve has been replaced with a metal cloverleaf. also the white reserve risers with the dotted line up the center seems to jog a few aging brain cells.... Hi TB Don't have a clue on the type of pig sprt beth was wearing. I'm 5'2" and no way could I wear the old origional piggy backs "back in the day'.It would have been like jumping with a board from the middle of my butt to the middle of my head.

Nutter with gun massacres school children in Germany
Krip replied to Skyrad's topic in Speakers Corner
sorry to hear about the senseless loss of life in your country. IMO using this tragedy to argue the merits of gun control on a international scale is pointless and in poor taste. Or in plain english BS but I wouldn't expect anything less from SC. One Jump Wonder -

Hi JR I would like to congratulate you on your ability to post a simple thread with a link and cut copy and paste on your pet issue in SC and then sit back as the SHTF. I've read thru 4 pgs of posts in response to your OP from well educated people that are willing to debate their views on lots of different subjects that may not be related to your OP in spite of the fact that no one is willing to change their opinions. JR you be back in the day you had Kenedy and "peaceful jeffrey" to help you out with your stimulateing GC threads. Now you can do it all by yourself. Push the button wind them up and watch the action ITSOC BUMP

I was in the military and didn't keep a gun in the barracks However we knew at least two guy's who did. One guy (a ranger) even had a accidental discharge in the barracks. They Dr's were able to save his hand and fingers. As far as the incident reported by JR considering the Choe incident & based on the linked news report the prof wasn't out of line and police made a minimal effort to interview the student to check that he wasn't a threat. Hopefully the student didn't lie to the cops and his medical history is clean. How many students did Choe murder 15-30? There were warning signs that were "missed" by how many people. If the campus police had checked choes records could the incident have been prevented? To bad for the students that were killed, and their grieving friends and families.

I don't think the Prof jokes around Haveing been a gov't employee for 25 yr's it could be true. But they usually have a 60 day written comment period, befor the new rules go into effect. One Jump Wonder
