  1. **I'm starting to get sick of just diving out of the otter** Sitting at my desk right now I would do anything to just dive out of the otter. Seriously, maybe you shouldn't do solo's anymore and start doing some two ways....... I am thirsty for some air and some brew.......... Seb
  2. Everyone must get a demo rating............... I just did my first demo last night (yeah baby a night demo too). I jumped into an Olympic torch carrying ceremony with a California state flag. Flew in right as they were singing "America the Beaitiful" to a roaring crowd. F***in awesome feeling. I havn't come down yet. It was a tight landing area too and I hit the mark. If I didn't have to work today I'd still be partying my ass off. So one more time..........Everyone get your demo rating...... I'm so thirsty for some air and some brew. Seb.
  3. For the most part it is up to the JM. But I do know that the tandem rig manufacturer has restrictions too which are meant to be for video jumpers but aply to anyone jumping with a Tandem. Sebazz...............
  4. I don't know what the craziest thing in frefall i ever did, but the craziest jumping thing I and some friends did one time was to grab a hot air ballon (with a pilot of course-who was also a nut) and just drove out to the middle of no where in the central valley. We pulled over on the side the road blew up the balloon and just started taking turns jumping as we slowly drifted through the valley. We encountered some interesting things that day. At one point a CHP pulled up to tell us not to park on the side of the freeway. She noticed some of us packing our rigs on the side of the road then almost at the same time the baloon pilot said "jumpers away" the chp looked up saw the balloon saw the jumpers exit looked back at us and said "please move you cars" got in her car a bolted. Wonder what the paperwork would have been for that? Needless to say that was a pretty nutty day. I think the vraziest thing I will ever do jumping is tomorrow night. I just got my pro-rating and I am doing a night demo in Monterey into an olympic torch carying ceremony. I get to carry The butterflies in my stomach are unbearable. I get to fly in with the California state flag. I'm so excited, but man it's going to be crazy. Small landing area, night time, demo. Yeeeehhhaaaa.............
  5. ________________________________________________ first FF / big way sit / 100 jumps / CASA / tracking / tube / rodeo / camera / train / all good! ________________________________________________ Who do you owe all that beer to? The DZ you did the jumps at or the DZ at home? 9 cases of beer, yeah baby........ Sebazz I'm thirsty for some air and some brew.........
  6. Pretty much the entire card can be filled out with your AFF jumps and the rest is pretty easy. If you have a hard time with what a particular section is, look at the new ISP thingy in the SIM. And yeah you should have been told that if you wish to continue skydiving you have to join USPA before doing level 4. One question for some one that knows, can you still take the A test? Has that been totaly fazed out?
  7. Well I don't want to jinx this weekend, but............. It has been beatiful, warm and clear with light winds.......... Of course during the summer it's foggy on the coast clear inland, but if you're from Northern California you should know it's the exact opposite during the winter. Come on down. We've had a few Byron folks trickle down past two weekends.
  8. FYI - Yes one more time! This Saturday and Sunday the 19th and 20th will be $15 to 15,000 feet. I owe lot's of beer and promise to bring that as well. You know that beer karma thing.
  9. I think I have counted a total of 2 posts originating from California. How sad. I feel so lonely out here. Home DZ - Skydive Monterey Bay (Sometimes Hollister - Adventure Center Skydiving) Living - Palo Alto, CA Born - San Francisco First jump - October 1997 (Hollister)
  10. You should know that corporate law firms are in abundance here in the Silicon Valley (I happen to writing this post from one)(And yeah if you can help it stay away from law but it is a job). You can still find work in San Jose (Silicon Valley) area if you have IT and law experience. Housing is tough to find though. If you would like the names of some firms around here contact me at my home e-mail - bss2056@pacbell.net.
  11. *** Lodi is a short drive south, Davis is a short drive north, Monterey Bay is a longer drive south, Byron is a short drive west **** All Twin Turbine Aircraft at these DZ's.......... And the annual Kathy Dause Boogy at Lodi.......... So fun. Around Sacramento housing isn't too bad yet, but if you get closer to San Francisco it's not worth the $. Come to Cali............. Seb.
  12. I just went through the course in November. Make sure you have the bottom end sequence down (example 4,500 = alti signal then pull signal then dock and pull - Make that sequence fluid) Make sure you and your partner are on the same page before dives. And don't let the evaluators stress you out. Thats their job. Even if you are a solid rocking skydiver the performance anxiety can nock you down a couple of notches - Relax. Seb.
  13. You are right. Ankle injury over back injury any day. I did forget to mention our DZ is at sea level and the landing area is a soft sandy area with slopes. For really heavy tandems though on no wind days slide slide slide (thats just habit)........
  14. Ah dude sounds like your hatin it up there in the North West. There is definitely an uneven balance of men vs. women in the sport. But the forum you suggest would need to be heavily moderated.......... Good luck! Sebazz.
  15. We too have the Icarus 330's & 360's at our DZ. I wouldn't call it a hook turn but a slow low carving toggle turn gives you plenty of speed for a nice stand up landing. There is nothing wrong with sliding in on your ass. It is the safest method in no wind situations. Just remember to finish the flare ALL the way.
  16. You know the thing thats really gnarly and excuse me for saying this, but......... When someone farts and farts to the point where you're getting sick you gotta realize your inhaling little microscopic particles of crap. And you don't have to worry so much about the person thats rotting inside you gotta worry about yourself and what just went up your nose. Gnarly! Keep it in till exit.............
  17. I was the level 7 JM on that dive and before the jump he kept mentioning corona and bud light. And I kept telling him no no no. There was a bit of a language barrier. I figured out that he had already bought it before coming that day - so yes it was the fault of the Level 6 JM.
  18. Well imagine if you are a full time working instructor, your sitting in the front of the plane all the time furthest from the door. You could make the argument that that plane is your office. Now would you want someone coming into your office or cube and pinching one off. (Just for arguments sake - I don't really care)
  19. I can't pretend I am totaly innocent, but this certain foul smell just keeps destroying the airplane on the way to altitude. I have grown acustomed to it, but damn I feel especially bad for the students. When I am doing work jumps I hold it till I have exited the plane. Is it just plain rude to fart on the way to altitude and should these flatulence offenders be punished. Or is it just a unfortunate reality about skydiving. Sure am thirsty for some air and some brew............ Sebazz.........
  20. ***** In reply to: Ummmmm....Ok..... ***** I can't believe it. I have a normal job during the week and jump every single weekend. Looking back I only took like four weekends off the whole year. Started with 622 in begining of the year and finished with 1179. I log after the last jump every day. I saw a post regarding the need for new debates. Should Tandems count as jumps? I think they should count as two. How often do you have someone trying to kill you on your skydives.
  21. 550 jumps............(450 Tandems)........... I already got 10 jumps this year............ Yeah I got an an addiction alright............... I'm thirsty for some air and some brew........... Seb
  22. Fast Climing Twin Otter......... Skydivemontereybay.com
  23. FYI - $15 to 15 at Skydive Monterey Bay this weekend and next weekend. Party time...............
  24. One thing I was told long ago and I still don't know if it's true, but here we go........ DZO told me that yuo don't need to breath in freefall cause your going so fast that the oxygen penetrates your skin alowing you to breath through your skin.... Is the day over yet? I need some air and some brew pronto.......
  25. Did yuo ever hear about students chopping thier main cause the slider wouldn't go back up......... I've heard about it, never seen it. In response to *Landing on clouds* I'e told people you bounce of them and thats it's very very cool. I'm so thirsty for some air and some brew...............
