  1. Jo mama. maybe I should post this topic on a skiing forum.
  2. Damn...that is bad. And everyone else on the jump went along with you being bumped off? What was his reasoning?
  3. Normally you would agree with me? How did THAT happen? What a few people don't get is that I had no problem with him saying no...but the way he said it it was cocky and arrogant. The other guy had 45 jumps, I have 109 as of yesterday (and consider myself a complete beginner), and the advanced jumper has quite a few hundred on both of us. I've teaching at a university level for a few years now, and there are different ways you can present something, critique someone's project, respond to someone's remarks, etc. And Aggie, for the record, they were casually standing there with their rigs on discussing what they would do when I asked to join them, so I wasn't jumping in during or after their dirt dive. After our conversation, they did a dirt dive about 5 minutes later. Anyways, it's over. As they say in Italian, fugggheeetttaabbouuuttttiiittt!
  4. It's not the fact that he said no, it's how he said it. You do know that in real life, the tone in which you say something can give it a completely different meaning, right? Just like there are different way to criticize someone for a mistake they made, there are different ways to say no to someone.
  5. There's almost nothing I don't like about this sport. I love the thrill, the diversity of people, the learning (no matter how fast/slow it goes and how slow my progress may be), how frequently or infrequently I jump, etc... ...but cocky jumpers? Came to my home DZ today, hanging around looking for people to jump with, and this experienced jumper along with someone who just got his license a couple of weeks ago are doing a two way. I've jumped with the newly licensed jumper before, and I'm pretty inexperienced myself, so I asked if I could join in. The newly licensed jumper's answer was "Sure, join us if the other guy is ok with it." The 'more advanced' jumper's response was "No that's ok, we'll just keep it at a 2way." WTF? This was about 20 minutes before their load, so it wasn't as I was asking to jump at last minute and was messing up their dive plan. I simply asked if I could join their 2way, and his response was so full of arrogance, it really rubbed me the wrong way. Besides, about an hour later I was on a 3 way with that newly licensed guy and another jumper, and jumping through some snow at 14000 feet made me feel better. But seriously...what a cocky a$$hole.
  6. Choices choices....go to the Everglades Boogie at the end of January for 4 days or go skiing to Colorado for a week? I can't make up my frickin' mind!!!!
  7. Wussie Just get a big 4x4 and you are good to go Seriously...what a wuss.
  8. My packing is great...they'd probably pay me NOT to pack for them.
  9. You left out quilifications ....BUT, I'd say fuckin stupid idea...till we fix O***a's fuck ups! Looking for a teaching position or full-time freelance or employment for a design/ad agency. IMPOSSIBLE.....(JMO) For any of those cities eh?

  11. Strongest? The mafia. Weakest? Probably the anorexic models... Ok, seriously, wherever you go, go and don't look back. A "simple 2-hr move away" seems like a safety blanket move, a little change and not much risk. I'm Russian...the first one may be a better fit actually! Not really a blanket move...I know a lot more people and have more contacts in NYC..in Austin, I have..0. :X
  12. Eh....Austin is actually my last choice...for some reason, I'm really drawn to NYC, and I'm only 2 hrs away from it. Austin would be a much bigger move... And it's much easier to swing down to NYC for an interview than go to Austin... What fields are the strongest/weakest in NYC?
  13. A question for everyone... Good or bad idea, especially in these times? Let's say you have about 15K in the bank, and thinking of NYC, Chicago, Boston...maybe Austin. Is relocating without a job and hoping to find one eventually a smart idea? Especially if you're feeling stuck in the current situation and really need to break out... Any thoughts?
  14. This is your type of club VB
  15. I'm not sure if it was work...or just such a great day, happy to be jumping on a Monday, etc..was just distracted. I know that the last place you want to be distracted is when you're skydiving...whether in the plane, freefalling, under canopy, landing, etc. Thanks for the constructive and destructive criticism.
  16. It's a good question. It was a bit windy today and I thought I'd need more time to get back to the pattern entry point. I got back to early...and that's when it all started. Don't know why I didn't just hang out in brakes and wait for the few faster canopies to enter, then merge when there was enough room/time.
  17. That's fine...I accepted responsibility and learned from my mistake. Maybe others can as well. Thankfully the only result of this was someone having a talk with me and not an ambulance at the drop zone.
  18. Cut off two people today. Didn't notice one of them at all, even though i thought was looking around. Noticed the other as he flew by about 50 feet below me. Cut off the other one as I was on my final and landed at an angle rather than continuing to go straight (this is the other person that I didn't see at all, even though he was very close to me.) My main mistake was getting to the point where I had to enter the pattern around 2k and then I started spiraling to bleed off some altitude in the middle of the pattern rather than taking it out wider or hanging out in the 'play area' longer before entering the pattern. Don't know what the **** I was thinking, but I learned from it. It was a complete lack of attention on my part during that specific jump, as the previous jump was in similar circumstances and there weren't any such issues. As they say in Latin, mea culpa. Thanks to the other two jumpers for explaining my mistake to me in a mature manner rather then swearing and yelling. Considering the difference in skill level/knowledge of skydivers around you, is pattern awareness/pattern entry a part of the skydive where you should be perhaps even more alert than any other time? Any thoughts and words of wisdom would be appreciated...
  19. So you're saying there were bakes first, delivery drivers second, and prostitutes third?
  20. I'd call you even if I wasn't drunk....in fact I'd PROBABLY call you when i wasn't drunk.
