Strange. You couldn't use a simple CSV export? Indeed it does. I've started to add graphing to skydivingfatalities.info. Either click in the graph on the front page (indicating overall, US and non-US fatalities) or go here. It should really be a bar graph, but I've used some existing code I had. I'll improve it later. Will also add the option to filter by other fields such as age, jumps, country, etc, but it's almost Christmas Day and I'm off to Kuala Lumpur in a few hours. Happy Holidays. New advert featuring Bill Cole on skydivingmovies.com
cpoxon replied to cpoxon's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Like in this post, skypuppy sent me another advert with Bill Chuteless Cole in. Skydivingmovies has been done for a while but it's back up again so you can see the video at: ftp://ftp.skydivingmovies.com/public/misc/LabattsBlueSkydive1983.rm This is how Rob described it: Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live -
Give me their names! They can go all the way to Eloy to learn to wingsuit but they can't come to Langar?! :-P Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

Scariest Bm Jump ever and definitely something to think about
cpoxon replied to Rdutch's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Loop or pillow cutaways are an option But you do have at least two releases (three with LQRS) which are more exposed and less visible than your rig's cutaway and reserve, that you are less aware of, especially when inexperienced. It also depends on the plane (space and snag hazards). On my first suit (GTi) I went for pillows to reduce the snag hazard but have loops on my Skyflyer and S3. James, please read this post which everyone should read before posting to the BASE forum and wonder if it can be applied to your post in here somehow... Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

You should be asking this on the other board, but I can't resist, yes, I'm going. LJ, am I to have the pleasure of making your's and Raist's acquaintance? Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

We don't have that over here, so I don't know whether that's a compliment or a personal attack! :-P All I could find when I did a search was this?! ;-) Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

In a way, that's a shame. The Herc Boogie has very regularly been biennial whereas the AN72 has been a bit more unreliable. Having them on alternate years would have been complimentary and keep them fresh when they came around. Still, choice is good. I'm going to the Herc boogie. Can I manage Espace as well?! As a byproduct of this post with pictures of my suit, I thought I'd overlay the two suits to demonstrate the difference in the size of the wings. The suits are not identically sized, but pretty similar. The leg wings are aligned along the rear seam against the leg and the righ leg is turned back on the front seam to illustrate. Bigger difference than I though or maybe it's the smaller difference in the arm that is surprising? Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

Ok, here's mine. Sorry the pictures aren't great. Took them on my own after discovering how to use the timer switch on my PC110. I'll try and get some better ones at the dropzone. 27/28 are taken without a flash and the overhead light on. A friend thought the colours looked better. I prefer 30/31 which is with a flash and without the overhead light as it makes the wings look shinier and the green of the suit closer to what it is. So I've included them both! :-) My Skyflyer1 was Jade, Dark Gray and Light Gray, which was an absolutely spot on match with my rig see 1, 2, and 3, so was a bit disappointed when it came to order the S3 to find that these colours were no longer available. The closest were Teal and the Aluminzed (sic) Silver but I'm pretty pleased with the results. I think picture number 15 is a pretty accurate representation colour and match wise. See sidebyside for a comparison of the two suits. Thrown in as well, 24 and 26 are some pics of the Pantz I got in the buddy deal. Thanks Bird-Man! Just a video of me during my canopy class!!

So, what did you learn? Well done for putting this video up. :-) Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live -
Had wanted to do it since I saw the video of Patrick flying back into the Porter. Waited till I had 500 jumps, and did it on my 505th, on the 1st of July 2001, in an incredibly tight original Classic, with Tim Porter giving me instruction. Believe it or not, it was a perfect spot! My next jump was on my own GTi Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

PD's new aggresive selling policy!
cpoxon replied to garywainwright's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Sounds to me like the person demo'd a rig off the shelf and discovered what canopy it was upon deployment! If Gary and Gus know who it is, then I probably do too and am curious to find out, so PM me please! Nearly everyone from Langar has been to Zhills recently, except me :-(, so it could be anyone! How much do tandem instructors get paid?
cpoxon replied to paulagc's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
In which country? At my dropzone the going rate is £35 (~ $60) (using club equipment, £45 (~$78) with your own gear) but then a tandem will cost you £205 (~ $350). In other words, the TI makes 17% of the jump cost. For comparison a ticket to 13,500 is £18 (~ $31). Without this information, any comparison is meaningless? It is my understanding that it is more expensive to do a tandem in the UK than it is in the US, which is more expensive than it is in New Zealand, so the pay will be proportionately less? Just in case no one knows what Matthew is talking about, the BPA FAI licence has a page at the back with the text, "The Civil, Naval and Military Authorities, including the Police, are respectfully requested to aid and assist the holder of this certificate." in 6 different languages. I don't know if the USPA licence is equivalent? I did a search on the text and came across this German FAI Free Balloon Aviator Pilot Licence from 1912. It is remarkably similar, even down to the translations But I've never used mine as ID outside of a skydiving environment! Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

Something point out to me by Fordy, since the leg wing on the Classic is the shortest in the range, better tension can be achieved by turning the heels out and the feet in, than by pointing the toes. Of course pointing the toes is important, for straight legs, dearch and longitudinal tension, but just doing that on a Classic can lead to narrow legs. Toes in/Heels out may be an exageration, but you are no doubt aware of the difference between what people are doing with their body in the air and what they are actually doing, so a little exageration on the ground is more likely to reap a more correct stance in flight? The floor is a perfect training aid, especially when suited up, since it provides a relative reference and physical feedback to the de-arch on your hips, the roll of your shoulders, arms and hands, and the pointing of the toes (or rolling outward of the heels on a Classic). It's also easier to practice doing the heel-clicks wave-off whilst prone as it is symmetrical compared with the off-balance, one legged, standing up equivalent.
