  1. Not just you. Many others feel the same way. I just trying to understand why they feel that way.
  2. Would you really Loose friends if you didn’t post here? (Please understand that I playing devils advocate here and trying to understand why some feel that we (Infrequent/Former jumpers) should not be part of this community.
  3. That is an excellent question. I would love to hear from those that voted NO and what their reasoning for that was. Also like to know how many Jumps per Week/Month/Year they feel would be enough to be part of this community?
  4. Would that also be true for someone that just made a tandem Jump or two and/or maybe just did a few student Jumps?
  5. The subject of people that rarely jump or no longer jump at all still posting came up in the open forum thread. In order to keep that thread on topic, I thought I would start a separate poll/thread to see what others thought. Kitty brought up a good question in that thread about "why would someone that no longer Jumps post to a Skydiving forum?" What are your thoughts?
  6. I would not do my taxes over an unsecured wireless connection but I think you have about the same odds of winning the lottery and getting struck by Lightening on the same day as you do as you of someone happening to be in your neighborhood, Sniffing your packets at that moment and extracting personal info. When I am taveling for work and need to check my email between visits to client sites, I have been known to pull into the parking lot of randon hotels and do just that on thier unsecured wireless signals.
  7. And that was the other reason I hated this series.. the theme song SUCKED!!
  8. I thought there were only 98 episodes made? Only 4 seasons. I never got into that series. Couldnt stand Bakula as a captian.
  9. There was a thread on this several years ago. HH expressed an opinion then on who he thought should be allowed to post. I haven’t seen anything that would indicate his opinion has changed. Those that say you cannot belong to the "Clique" because you don’t jump enough are entitled to their opinions but maybe some Cliques are not worth being part of. I once had one of these people tell me I could no longer be their friend because I didn’t jump enough. You know.. I am OK with that. As for visiting a DZ when you are in town with no intention of jumping while there.. I bet the DZO, Property owner and people that actually Jump there would LOVE to see you. If in doubt, Call em up and ask if they mind if you drop by. Most DZ`s, Like this site, are pretty open and welcoming.
  10. I agree. I have been posting here fairly regularly for almost 6 years now. I have met well over 100 people directly from this site. This site allows us to reach out well beyond our Local DZ`s. I have visited over 20 DZ`s all over the U.S. and met at least one person at each one that I had first known from this site. I have made friends with people that I most likely would not have met otherwise. For that I deeply grateful that Sangrio allows us to meet in the house he built. I still remember going to my first Boogie without knowing anyone at all and being recognized from my avatar by someone that was Mod at the time. They made sure to introduce me to several others. It was a great welcome to Skydiving outside my Home DZ. Bonfire is a great place for people without alot of experience to get to know others in the community as those same people may not have the experience to participate in the more topical forums. This post did make me go back and analyze my post over the past few months. (For those that would like to do the same, there is post on how to do that here and a follow up here. I set my search for the past 3 Months and ran the macros to see how much "cheering" I was doing). The signal to noise ratio was not as great as it could have been but for the most part I dont think it was too bad. Am I part of the problem? I try not to be. I just hope that others can come here and find the sort of welcome that I found several years ago. Getting rid of the Skat and Shock posts will certainly help more feel like joining.
  11. Of course they will bill you for their time. They did their Job. I dont know many people that work for free. Someone has to pay for their time and overhead. If you do actually require EMERGENCY Care, they should send you to the ER. My point to all this is that there are alternatives to going to the ER and if more people would take advantage of these options, the waits and level of service in the ER`s would improve. Urgent Care Places are great for things like Needing Stitches of Small Cut, Minor Broken Bones, Ear Infections, Severe Colds/Flu, and other non-life threatening situations that cannot wait for a regular doctors appointment. Unfortunately most people will run straight to the ER for these problems and end up getting in the way of people that do have life threatening situations.
  12. Also you may have "Out of Network" options as well depending on your Insurance that willlet you visit any of these places but you have a Higher co-pay. Look into all of your options. A little research ahead of time (Talk to the Urgent Care Places and Your insurance Company) can save time and Money in a time of need. It is easy to scream the system is Broken (And I cannot disagree with that) but a little research and you may find that things are not as bad as you think. The ER should be your absolute last option.
  13. If you are in a Metropolitan area, You should be able to find several nearby. And if you have a Primary Care Physician that you are not happy with, Call around and tell them you are shopping for a new one. Some of these Urgent care places will make an appointment for you to come in an interview them. They want your business. Private industry solving this problem?? Who would have thunk it.
  14. Not just normal Business Hours, Most Urgent Care places are open pretty late. Of the 3 that are closer to my home than any ER, One is open till 10pm and the other 2 are open till Midnight. everyone should check thier area and see if there are Urgent Care places near them and when they are open. Could save them ALOT of time in the future should they need care quickly.
  15. I have found that using an "Urgent Care" places works much better than an "emergency room". Around here there are "Urgent Care" Places all over. Basically a Doc in a Box with some X-Ray, Lab type stuff for when you need a doc and cant wait for an appointment. I pay a little more for visiting one of these places than I would for a regular Doctors Visit but I have never waited more than 30 minutes from walking in to talking to the Doc and/or Nurse Practitioner. I am currently trying to get my Insurance Company to change my Primary care physician to one of the Docs at the Urgent Care place closest to my home. The urgent Care place seems great. No waits, Open Late, No appointments Required.
  16. I made a few Changes and Enhancements to the List. Updated a few address and such. If you have a Garmin GPS, You should be able to load this file with your POI Loader. This may work on other GPS Models as well but I have not tested with anything other than Garmin Nuvi Series GPS. This File contains GPS Coordinates for Almost every DZ in the US and Porto Rico. I will be working on other files for Europe and other regions and posting them soon as I get time. Enjoy and let me know if you find it useful.
  17. Since some of the regulars appear have wore out their welcome here, I thought this might be a good time bump up this thread. Lets hear from the next generation. Lurkers, Speak Up. The floor is yours.
  18. I believe they are talking about Checked Baggage. This is really going to backfire on them when everyone starts trying to Carry-on what they would have normally checked. Already the Fight for overhead bin Space is tough. I go out of my way to Book seats where I will get to Board early on airlines that I do not have status on just to make sure I can get my carry-ons in an overhead Bin. This sounds like a business travelers nightmare. Every one forced to carryon more because it would cost them extra to check it.
  19. There is only one "ME" (Thank GOD!!) that is made up of many different aspects. Different Situations call different aspects into the forefront. At work, There is the serious aspect driven to succeed. Professional, Courteous and Serious. With my Daughter, Caring and supportive. At the DZ, Time to relax and not be any of the above.. Obnoxious, Crude, Relaxed and fun. All different roles but yet still aspects of the same person.
  20. Is your Profile correct that you are currently jumping a 1.53 Wingloading at 94 jumps? And you asking about downsizing further? If there is a Bounce Bingo Pool at your DZ, Can I buy a spot with your name?
  21. So we agree. The perfect pair of Jeans would be: Skin tight Jordashe with a hint of camel toe, low-rise peek-a-thong waist and Hotpants Look to the seat. And Not made in any size past Size 9. (I know 9 is a little big for some but I kinda like a girl with a little bit of cushion)
  22. Did you not read walts response?? There some things even a Pig just wont do!!
  23. I will say this much, Last Time I saw this happen, Atleast the guy waited till everyone landed from the ashdive to really start hitting on the widow.
