I thought of another Stupid Travel Policy from a company I used to work for.. We were not allowed to stay in Hotels that had a Bar. It was actually a Departmental rule more than a Company Rule. The Engineering Staff could only stay in Hampton Inns or equivalent that did not have a Bar because too many of them were becoming alcoholics. That just meant that we had to drive back to our hotels after our Status meeting at the next closest bar. I had folders full of Plans and Changes and new designs on Bar Napkins for that project. The filing system was great though, What bar were at when we came up with that idea?? Look for the bar napkins from that bar and that would be the latest revision.

I guess I am pretty lucky.. MY companies basic rule on Travel expenses is "Dont be Stupid". We had a Training Class this week and the attendees (from several different Companies) were all discussing some of their own employers stupid Travel Policies.. One (Large County Government Employee) said they were not reimbursed for Tips on meals. The meals are covered but any Tip is not. Another said Travel time was not covered. They had to use personal VACATION time to get back to California from Atlanta. Another had 2 layovers going back to San Francisco from Atlanta because the Non-stop was $10 more expensive and the company would only pay the Lowest possible fare. They would not even let them personally pay the difference. Any of you work for companies that have ridiculous and/or stupid travel policies like this? Lets hear em.

I grew up in the 80`s. I went through my formative late teen years when Jordace, Chic and other skin tight painted on jeans were all the rage and the Toe came standard issue in all Jeans. Nothing brings me back to those blissful raging hormone days quite like skin tight jeans with a hint of toe.

Normally I would agree with you as I think by far most Law Enforcement Officers are trying to do the best they can while generally dealing with the worst of our society, How ever I have to disagree with this statement. In many parts of the country, the responses to 911 calls are notoriously slow. There is no way in hell I would wait for an Ambulance if I have a Family Member that was in a time critical life threatening situation and it was possible for me to get them to the Hospital myself. Get them to a hospital ASAP. Do not call and hope an Ambulance shows up in the next couple hours. My Girlfriends Grandmother died a while back waiting on an Ambulance. She was in a Nursing Home ACROSS THE STREET from the hospital. They called an Ambulance and it took 45 Minutes before one showed up (the Ambulance went to the wrong nursing home first, Then went back to the Hospital). It was too late by then; she had been dead for at least 15 minutes by the time they arrived. Any time before that and she could have been easily saved. Waiting for an Ambulance in some situations is just plain stupid. Sounds like this may have been one of those situations. I also realize that we may not be getting the entire story here. Your point about inaccuracies in media reporting is well taken.
