Depends on the DZ, How Gusty the Winds are, Which Direction the winds are coming from, How "Open" the LZ is. Generally if the students are sitting down, So am I. In a HUGE wide open Landing area without Obstacles that help create turbulence I will jump in slightly higher winds if they are fairly steady. At My Home DZ, I am Much more likely to sit out if the winds are out of the South. Lots of trees on the south side of the landing area that can make it real bumpy under 100 feet on final. If the winds are out of any other direction, It is not so bad. General Rule of thumb.. If others with a lot more Jumps than you are sitting down because of the winds, Join them.

You should still go camping in North Ga. I know this great little DZ that will let you camp for free. Ponds, Otter, Bonfire, Fun people. Nothing Happens there. (If you are real lucky!!) they even allow Pups. Screw paintball, Come play with us.

Nothing at all. I don't think anyone is saying that people should be allowed to hire a Coach if they want to. The problem is exactly what the title of this thread says..."coach jumps or solo jumps?". Those are the only options many AFF grads think they have. Even if not getting Formal Coaching, Having someone to jump with is better and more educational than doing solos. Back to the point of reference in the sky thing. A resent AFF Grad will not learn much at all if they are doing a solo, How do they know if they are backsliding? What freefall skills can they realistically work on without a point of reference? Now if someone qualified is willing to jump with them at no extra costs to the student (Giving back concept), The student has a greater opportunity to learn from the jump. Saying that they MUST jump with (PAY) a COACH or Jump Solo is a mistake in some peoples opinion and a disservice to the student.

The judges and the producers certainly want people to believe that. Personally I do not think his voice is that great. Way too screechy for my tastes. Also the fact he has been a professional performer for years really doesnt make it a fair competition. He has been on and off Broadway in several productions including the HUGE hit Wicked. He does know how to Perform. He commands the stage very well.. But how will that transfer to an Album where all you hear is the voice? Also, Is he too Flamboyant for your average brain dead Lowest common denominator typical Idol fan? Time will tell. Until this weeks lousy performance, I thought Kris Allen was coming on strong and had great potential. Also Kool-aid head (Allison) could surprise some people. Both of these are better singers than Adam but unfortunately do not have the 20 years of stage experience that Adam does. I would love to see the final 3 being Allison, Adam and Kris with Allison winning it. Let Adam go back to Broadway where he can really shine.

Sunday I am going to my old Roommates house for our 10th annual Easter Beer Hunt. Big Cookout, A Bushel of Oysters. Everyone grabs an empty 6 Pack carton and goes hunting for the Beers hidden in the back yard. Lots of fun.

I made my first Couple Jumps in 1992. Static Line with Piglet 23 Rounds. After watching my father break his Back landing one of these Rounds, I quit for 10 years. (did a few Tandems in the late 90) and then came back again in 02/03 and finished AFF and kept jumping. Time since First Jump - 17 Years. USPA License says 7th Years of membership. Time in sport really more like 5 years (In that there 5 years that I was actually actively involved) Never could decide what to put for Years in sport here so I just leave it blank.

96 Jumps and No A License?? Assuming you Profile is not correct, You should try to find qualified people that will jump with you. Many will do so at no charge (Giving back to the sport). I remember when I was just off AFF and begging my DZO to let me do a solo, He frowned upon Resent AFF grads doing Solos and would always find a qualified Jumper to jump with them (at no cost to the student). His reasoning was that you learn very little on a solo because you have no point of reference in the sky. Times (and attitudes) have changed with the coach rating and its use (and misuse). I would suggest that you avoid doing solos if possible. Hang around the DZ after hours and meet some people, Many will gladly jump with you at no charge (Look for the old timers, they are more likely to have the "Pay it forward" attitude and they are easily bribed with Beer.) If however you really do have 96 jumps and still no A License, That is a different story.

Women have a purse to carry the thing around in but what the hell are men supposed to do with it? It doesnt look like it will fit well in a pocket, especially if you sit down.
