Now this is not true for all cars...but i have found it true more often than not. Push starting a car has nothing to do with the battery. Even if the battery cant hold a charge the battery will still transfer current from the alternator to the distributor in order to fire the plugs to keep the motor running. When i say it doesnt work for all cars..the only car i havent seen this work for is pontiacs. Check the starter! Im not sure if you read my post about the hybrid but thats what i plan on doing. Its going to take some time because i need specific parts which i have found lately by calling various junkyards are hard to find. Im going to get a complete motor to make the car mobile then after that im going to do the 4G hybrid. It will be built up for a turbo application so it will scream too "Age has absolutely nothing to do with knowledge, learning, respect, attitude, or personality." -yardhippie "Fight the air, and the air will kick your ass!!! we probably were..but i found some site that tells me exactly what i need to know. this site for the build http://www.extremeevolutions.com/4G64_buildup.htm and these sites for all the necessary parts 1G and 2G heads http://www.4g64.com/users/raycer97/ and then there is the DSM talk forum..where alot of guys are happy to answer questions http://www.dsmtalk.com/ So..as you can see i have a ton of resources to use to accomplish the task! ok i spent the last 4 hours or so researching. Im still going to get a normal motor to make the car mobile. What im doing different..and mitsubishi familiar ppl will understand what im about to type. Im getting another 4G64 block and doing the hybrid 4G64/4G63T motor. i found a plethora of write ups from people that have done it. the 64 block can handle more power than the 63 block...and vice versa..the 63 head can handle more power than the 64 head....so thus im building the hybrid. It will be some time before i can find a damn 64 block alone..but when i do ill start the process! haha..its safe to say i wont be jumping for awhile. It sucks having 2 expensive hobbies! I called the local mitsubishi dealership and they said a brand new block is $4,851 and the cylinder head is $1300. Im pricing around and salvage yards and the only quote i have gotten for far is $1000 for the complete motor shipped to my front door. brief background. 1998 mitsubishi eclipse spyder 2.4L 5 speed. 3 months ago the previous owner's gf was driving during a torrential downpour...drove down a dip where the water was about 2 feet high. the car died..she tried starting it 3 times(mind you it has a true cold air intake sitting about 8 inches off the ground). Sucked about a half gallon of water into the motor. We took the valve cover off ad cycled it and got what i thought was most of the water out...but surprisingly the motor ran! I agreed to take over the payments on the car because he went at bought a 06 acura rsx type s...which is a sweet car btw! I did it because i have wanted a 5 speed eclipse spyder for about 5 years now and never came across a spyder that was manual. They were always 5 speed hard top or automatic convertible. I knew it was going to happen in time but last weekend i was driving it and pulling out from a stop in 1st gear...going into 2nd gear..the clutch wasnt even out yet and i hear a loud POP and the motor immediately shuts down. Im pretty good with car but i have never torn apart a motor single handedly. I removed everything with the exception of the intake system, block, and tranny. 8 bent valves in the head, #1 piston, rod and bearing are in literally ~20 pieces...not counting the fragmented pieces. Rod is broke in half. There is about a millimeter deep gash in the cylinder wall. 1 inch up from the bottom of the block there is a 1 inch diameter hole...big enough to look through and see the crank. The block would have been salvageable if it wasnt for the hole in the block. On a positive not im in the process of looking for other motors. I plan on buying one right away to make the car mobile...and im buying a second to tear apart abd build. I plan on boring from a 2.4 to a 2.6L, haivng golden eagle sleeves installed, and having the head ported and polished. All that will be done at a machine shop. I will be installing forged rods and pistons. Havent decided on what rings im going to go with. Im also upgrading the cams and gears along with the springs and retainers. Im basically building the motor to get it ready to be turbo charged. I will have pictures of the damage later on today as i still have to clean the oil pan out. I will update this thread when i post the pics. When i built my computer all the parts were sent via UPS. On top of not getting even to my area in the 2 day shipping i paid for they would not deliver to my work address..and i had to drive almost an hour to the closest UPS distribution center....and i didnt get my money back for the 2 day shipping. I finally got everything 14 days after the order was placed....and had to drive to get everything! I know for a fact that you can drive with an expired license as long as you have a valid military ID. When your military ID expires you have 6 months from your date of separation to either go to your home state or get licensed in the state you choose to live in after you get out. If you go beyond that 6 months...then a cop has every right to ticket you. I viewed the PS3 skydiving game trailer and thought about a game for the Wii considering the games controlling technology. I know im lower than a newbie in the skydiving world but from my extremely limited experience and all the videos i have seen...alot of the freefall movement is done with the hands and arms. I know you can maneuver with legs too but im told that comes with experience. So my thought is: Do ya'll think Nintendo should make a skydiving based game for their console and if they did and you own the system would you buy it if the creators did a decent job at designing it(hopefully better than the PS3). IF you really want to exchange it and you do travel a lot then i would go with the PSP only because if someone is using a wireless internet router nearby then you can tap into their signal and use their internet and it doenst require you having to buy anything additional to get the internet...its already wi fi ready!
