Have you seen this page and this one? Yes, Quade I saw that photo. The photos of the clasp show NO detail. It needs to be studio quality with a filter showing the front of the clasp and then the markings, on the back. Look at the design of that clasp? The FBI has NEVER answered the question about the markings on that clasp. It does not appear to be a common clasp - I have searched high and low - and I have found NOTHING that resembles it. The picture does not show the detail of the onlay - that determines the quality. The tie might be common, but not the clasp. If the FBI have shown a detailed pic of that clasp in 1971 - Cooper's goose would have been cooked. I am still trying to contact the family of the individual I was told the tie and clasp was taken from - but who will remember it after 40 yrs unless a picture exists showing him wearing that clasp and/or one of his children remember buying it for him? The FBI will never put out a detailed photo of that clasp?????? It would seem I speak in riddles sometimes, but I speak only the truth.....just more of the white wash that goes on and on. I don't know why I waste my time on this other than the fact that I cannot walk away from what I know. I will search for the truth till the day I can no longer do so. Bigsky is right on the money. I do not understand the float theory. I just know what I know. Duane and I went to two places on the river before leaving Wa. One was the location where he went down to the river slightly West of the airport and the other location was a Hotel just West of the bridge into Portland. He threw a bag into the water there. None of this is theory it is fact. What was in the bag I don't know...that it was the money is theory. The planting of money for a decoy is the Mayfield people - they are the only ones who have said that. NOT me. Why didn't he go back before 1979 - because it was too HOT. In 1971 he took only what he could carry on his body - we still do not know how he got back other than public transportation...he sure would not want to arouse suspicion carrying a bag. I have been very busy with living or trying to. The letter is a carbon copy and two pages long. I would have to have it copied and black out much of it which is private to the party he was writing. After the black-outs there would be about 1/2 of a page and I am not sure how to do this. The last time someone else had to do it for me to get the Commutaiton of Sentence in the site. I wish there was a way to do the black-outs with just a short dark area so it would not be so long and such a large file.

I DON't drink and I DON't repeat gossip. That kind of insult is totally uncalled for...have you read the old site and all of this site? One of the reason I am not posting is not much new, but when I want to quote someone - I loose the site. There was a NEW development LAST yr regarding a suspect that never made the National News Media. A man named Robert Cooper of McAllen, Tx claims his brother "Dan" Cooper who died in 1974 was D.B. Cooper. His number is not listed nor is his address or I would contact him and ask WHY he thinks his brother was Cooper and WHAT EVIDENCE does he have other than a name to connect his "Dan" to the hijacking. I did not see the similarities in the picture versus the composite but that will always be controversial. Can someone find an adress for this man - I want to talk to him...I doubt he is computer literate, but let's see. His number was unlisted and there was no address...so how do I go about getting an address without paying for it? There were several Robt. Coopers in McAllen - so I would have to pay for each one...anyone with resources help me out on this one. In the mean time I am in the process of contacting and showing pictures to a person I have had an interest in for yrs as someone Duane knew...if this someone can identify Duane and/or his wife then I will move forward and arrange a meeting. NO WAY. I bought some fabric as close to the bag that was in the van - the bank bag. I washed it to make it softer - the color was not right, but the thickness and approx weave were close - Duck Cloth. When I washed it to get the sizing out that we did not have in the fabrics in 1971 - it raveled all to hell. I thought it was just the raw edges so I bought some more and stitched the edges - two pieces. I made a small rub on one of the sheets - just enough to slightly fray the fabric as washing up against rock would do. WELL, the results were shocking. The fabric frayed and frayed - ...this is by no means a scientific test - just one that happened. Alll I was trying to do was present a piece of fabric to the FBI and others that was close to the bag as I could get, so when they manage to get one of the bags like the one given to Cooper that my statement about the bag and its color and the writing would stand. It was just put in the washing machine with towels and cleaning rags - NOTHING, abrasive. There IS NO WAY that bag washed down the Washougal or the Columbia. What the FBI need to do is duplicate the bag and throw it in the Columbia or wherever they wish - put a tracer in it and see what happens...

[reply I've posted a link before to the MLK details including the details of the guy who claims he threw the rifle into the Mississippi. Yes, the rifle they had was inconclusive. That is what the conspiracists jumped on as proof that it wasn't the fatal rifle (which was in the Mississippi), and that it may not even have been Ray who fired the fatal shot. Either way it does not tie up with what you had previously implied - that Duane had the rifle that was used. (If you now say that this was not what you were implying then you need to go back and read your post again, the one about Duane getting all upset about a stolen rifle.) All this is ridiculous anyway. Do you honestly think I can be bothered to go check depositions?

You still don't get it, Ray was an escapee at the time of the call - So Duane knew where he was and this is within a week or two BEFORE King was shot. I do NOT know your source. but the rifle was never in the Mississippi river as the FBI/CIA did testing on the rifle they found after King was killed...they were unable to prove the bullet came from that gun. As for there not being any mention of Collins or Weber - you need to check the AL records and depositions done prior to the death of Ray - when Ray's attorney was trying to get him some clemency due to his illness and impending death. Some where in my vast files I have a copy of this. I was able to obtain it after I spoke with the attorney for Jowers (the owner of the Grill who in the late 90's claimed that he arranged the murder of King). Jower died 2 months after I spoke with his attorney Garrison (forgot the last name). We will never know if Jowers' claim was real or for fame and fortune. WHY doesn't the FBI make a very good detailed picture of the tie clasp available to public? Or are they going to wait until that too disappears? They could be skydivers, but they could also be fishermen, accountants, gamblers, invetment bankers, street sweepers, short order chefs.... once again you're making leaps of logic that the rest of us find a bit hard to fathom. From commutation of sentence (most likely because he was a snitch) to skydiving? You do not understand - that the James Earl Ray connection was on the table upon my finding out who Dan Cooper was. The FBI was even approached after the crime about it being involved with the MLK assinsation. Yet, this up and disappears. Then yrs later Duane confesses - and I find out about his connections to Ray...BUT, there is more than I have ever told the media - there are individuals out there including the FBI who know about this connection. It was decided before I went public to stay quiet on the MLK connection, because it might hurt my credibility. At this stage of the game - let it rip. After finding out about the Commutation - things start to fall into place because everything revolves around this time of his life - as John Collins. Most of my story has revolved around the 60's - the hidden yrs...and I am not making anything up - go talk to people I talked to in 1996 and they will tell you I was adamant about the MLK connection, but I didn't know to what extent - statements he made and the ex-wife made and her answers to some of my questions - I did not tell her were I was going - she volunteered the information. They did NOT commute that sentence for snitching on an accomplice! THINK. Ray was in the same prison - Duane and Ray were friends - the common law wives knew each other --- Ray gets a call from Collins in Ca from Atl - documented....after "John" is released and before MLK is killed. None of that seems strange to you? The files that would normally be with a commutation are NOT there. Duane gets frightened - enough to go buy a gun (a 38) in 1990 and reclaim the John Collins Id. WHY? Now how does this connect to a 1971 hijacking? It does - because of what I know that I refuse to state in this forum - but there are those who are close to me and that know my story from the beginning - I have tried for 12 yrs to tell the FBI and now it seems that I was talking to a blank wall. Why is it BLANK. Because that is the way they want it...be it the new FBI had other things to do or that the FILES are sealed. The FBI thought they could make me go away by ignoring me - and then with the tie DNA. NOT one statement from any witness puts that tie and that clasp on Cooper because it wasn't on Cooper. There were other individuals involved in the theft that sent Duane to Jefferson - the FBI in 1971 received a call from Jefferson and they went to Jefferson but it was never stated who they interviewed and who made the claim that he knew who Cooper was. Too many connections to ignore. CKRET: The name of the two other guys involved in the theft you can obtain, plus there was a fourth party the FBI didn't know anything about. All three guys protected one person...NOW Ckret just HOW did I know that? Maybe even you didn't know that. Was one of the guys who contacted the FBI in 1971 - one of the individuals involved in the Greene County incident? Or was one of the guys an experience jumper who worked with Duane? The files that support the Commutation of Sentence have either been purged or never existed. Now, for the CASE file - if that has been purged or is missing I will just have to hit the newpaper archives. I am not beyond spending a few weeks searching the archives for the crime he committed and finding the others involved. I am not beyond searching their past just as I have search Duane's past. The FBI also ignored a man called Roach. Now it is as though he never existed. Why didn't the FBI look at the Commutation of Sentence UNLESS they have known ALL along considering the files supporting it have been purged or never existed. Who were Duane's (John's) buddies in Jefferson - what was their background? Who is Roach? Who is Gunn? Why was I threatened by someone who knew Duane as John? If the FBI has an explanation of the above they should have shared this with me in the very beginning and have spared me all of the time and money I have spent trying to unravel his past. Make fun of me if you guys wish, BUT I have a question to ask. If someone jumps from a 727 - he is beneath the plane and I realize there will be turbulence. The Question is IF a jumper does a tuck as much as he could with the money and the weight of the money is positioned so that his bottom is the heaviest (much like a pregnant woman) how difficult will it be to break that tuck when he is ready? I believe he pushed off from the stairway in that position. Then he begins his countdown - how difficult will it be for him to open that tuck when the time comes? He is bottom heavy and drops with this tuck and by tucking he has managed to fall quickly away from the jet stream. I know NOTHING about jumping, but I need some feed back on this, but don't razzle me too badly. Somethings I keep to myself because I find no connection or reasons to verbalize them. This comes from something he did and mumbled a riddle at that time. This happened only once during the marriage...he was not fully awake. I thought it was from some childhood fear...and he was acting out in a dream. OKAY - slaughter me - I am just asking a question about something that has bothered me for a long time and the discussions about the exit velocity got me to thinking about this incident. If they change it to South South/East - I don't have a problem with that. Witnesses have put the plane S.SE but were told it was the chase planes making their loops. Go too far East and they will never make that place card fit the story. Nor will they make the money found in the Columbia fit. I am familiar with what the pilot told Himmelsbach and I also don't remember where I read it...but he has stated that to me and others over the yrs. It is not in his book, but may have been from a news story regarding things he has said in one of the many interviews he has granted over the yrs. Wonder what Ckret has up his sleeve with the money. Did they do anymore tests on the money? The family who found the money was questioned and investigated throughly and no evidence of foul play was found. The ex-wife of the young man who found the money - contacted me at one time. We spoke by phone and emails...I expect she has been following this thread. Any comments she made to me are private. The divorce was obviously bitter and according to the media if he ever sells the money he will have to pay all of the back child support to the state and/or her. When he went public to sell the money the media immediately grabbed hold of the story. It got rather nasty, but there hasn't been anything recently, so we have no way of knowing if there has been a resolution between the parties. Ckret: THE BAG: How many times have I said the bag was not a heavy canvas and that if it had handles they would have to be cloth because it was folded very neatly in the console. The color was a gray to wheat color (time would have yellowed the cloth) with black or brown flecks - I only unwrapped it enough to see the writing and quickly put it back - I did not note or remember handles, but if they were there they were made of cloth. THE JUMP SITE: Since I already know about where he jumped and where he landed - Ckret - depending on how long you are going to delay the jump - you could put him right on top of it. I do question what you said as it contradicts the tests they conducted and the written words on those tests and the statements from the crew. Have you spoke with the co-pilot? He is the only one left living who can give it to you from the horses mouth or is the FBI going to wait until he dies? THE MONEY: I am wondering what you are coming up with - I have repeatedly said that the bills needed to be examined with modern day forensics and not the forensics of the 70's. THE COMMUTATION: Today I got more information on the commutation which is NO information at all. The Commutation has no files attached to it - which is what I expected. PRISON REGISTER: This shows John Collins was sentenced to prison in Missouri from the Greene county Circuit court January 1966. The case files seem to be obscured, but there is one more place to look for these - if they are not there then we can expect the file has been purged (what else did I expect). Other information in the prison registery - ODD - his birth place is shown as Illinois, but he was born in Ohio? I do not know how much of the other information is different from what I already have and that will be a few more days. If the case files are not in Greene County then that opens a case of WORMS. Who was with Duane when he commited the crime that put him in prison in Jefferson? I have a very good reason for wanting to know this - but that can wait. What I find most concerning (WORMY) is that the Commutation has no file - not even in the governors files. 1. I am not TRYING to connect him to the MLK murder: 2. I am only reporting what I know. 3. I do not know what he retrieved in Memphis - but that rifle mysteriously became part of our life and the fact that he was upset over it missing rather than the other items that were stolen. 4. He made a strange statement about that rifle at that time, but he never elaborated on it and it was one of those things the look said - "Forget It". 5. He did know James Earl Ray and so did his common law wife of the time. 6. Ray did sell foreign comic and mag in the prison. 7. Ray did recieve a phone call from Collins in CA. I am stating these things to try to understand the commutation of sentence and his involvement with Ray. Maybe they were nothing more than inmates in the same prison. Regarding the Commutation - no more information today. The crime he went to prison was committed with 3 other individuals. Two men and one other person that was never identified. Firearms taken in that incident. What you do not understand is this: 2 other individuals involved --- was one of them a paratrooper or skyjumper? If it turns out to be who I think it was - I may be able to put Duane in a parachute. I had tried to find the names of these individuals for yrs - but, did not know where to look. The individual who contacted me yrs ago - the one I scoffed at - did put him in a chute, but I did not believe his tale. I still have many problems with the story he told me because he did not pass the "truth" test that I did on people who contacted me over the yrs. Yet, 2 things stood out in his story that he would not have know about Duane - if he did not actually know him and his wife. I have a very sick dog who needs my full attention right now. Safecrack - don't let these guys get you down - they obviously do not have the expertise to do these analysis themselves and it is just easier to knock theories around and knock the hard work of others. I chose your post to answer because it seemed like you needed a little support right now. When I get through with this post I will need some support, but I don't expect it. This post is in relation to the Commutation of Sentence for John C. Collins. I have been talking to Missouri State today and I am reporting what I have to date for those who ARE interested. The state is unable to determine why John Collins’ sentence was commuted. The commutation files from the Hearnes papers found Collins listed on a February 1968 discharge list (showing that he was released with 323 days of merit time), but did not find any supporting documents. He is just a name on a list. They are checking the penitentiary register books to find out what court he was sentenced from. There are no copies of circuit court case files (which might have information such as his attorney and where he was arrested), but if the case file is unavailable they might be able to tell me where to look for it. I hope to know more than this by the wks end. If this information IS NOT AVAILABLE then his records were purged......WHY? When the records of others are available and Collins/Weber is not - there had to be intervention by higher sources. I know that most of you do NOT BUY the INVOLVEMENT FACTOR that I throw out (not conspiracy). But the more obscure the files are of Collins/Weber the more this seems a probability. If he did indeed snitch on James Earl Ray - this should not be a hidden factor - all of the parties have deceased. Therefore one would have to believe that what Duane did goes beyond a mere snitching. Facts: l. When in prison Ray sold foriegn comics and mag. 2.James Earl Ray escapes. 3. James Earl Ray and Duane's common law spouses lived together for a short period 4. Duane is released for Jefferson City early 5. Three wks later MLK is assinated. 6. James Earl Ray get a call from a Mr. Collins at a bar he is working at in CA. 7. Weber gets a call in 1982 and makes a run to Memphis to retrive something...hidden in the wall behind a bathroom mirror. 8. In 1986 a rifle which had been hidden appears in our home - the very same kind of rifle that killed MLK. It had at one time had a scope on it. 9. 1988 - our home is robbed and the first thing Duane does is look for the rifle - yet there were other things taken of far more value. He does NOT list the rifle on the theft report. 10. 1990 - Duane revives John Collins out of fear or purpose...at great risk to himself...the Highway Patrol did not know that he did succeed in his endeavor to obtain the drivers license for John Collins. 11. Why did he need that ID.- For access to a Lock Box perhaps - Money appears at that time - his SS was not much and the business wasn't making any money - no one ever came in - was that a front to show income we needed to live off of those last 5 yrs? I am sure that not all of the above is considered fact by most of you, but I do because I lived with the man and the very fact that I have NEVER told all I have found and was told to me. None of this has anything to do with COOPER, but it has EVERYTHING to do WITH COOPER. It may be the WHY. This is not a puzzle - it is the WHY. WHY did Cooper leave the tie - because it was not his tie - it was a statement. Put a picture of that TIE and CLASP on the front page of a National Magazine. That CLASP WAS NOT a common item. Somewhere there is a picture of its true owner wearing it...and he wasn't Cooper. I called another man CRAZY when he told me some things yrs ago - I have since apologized to him, but let him know that he did DRESS the truth a LOT. There were 2 parts of his story I could NOT explain away. This Commutation of Sentence made these 2 parts of his story creditable. If the documentation has conveniently disappeared then - I guess it is just another story among the many tales told over the yrs regarding the 60's and all of the cover-ups that our government did in the name of "Freedom". For 2 hrs now I have been trying to get it on the site. I have had a problem posting since they changed the system and keeping the site when I do make a post. I scanned it as a photo and as a document. My old printer was easy, but this thing I have not figured out - after 9 months - it is over my head. I did get it scanned but the site doesn't accept it - and I don't know how to reduce a document and the photo since the computer says it is a document I can't make it reduce. DUMB BLONDE. Can I scan the commutation and post it - it is signed by the governor and has a gold seal. The commutation is to John Collilns - the name he served under in Jefferson. John Collins is the name he used from 1962 - 1968. Or I can get a photo copy and mail it to you - your choice. I have not gotten any corporation from Jefferson in all of these yrs - told several different stories by different individuals working there when they were contacted. By E-mail, by mail, by phone and in-person (an individual with a written directive from me who went to the prison). My tracing of Duane's history from 1962 to 1971 lends itself to the speculation of his involvement in things that try to stay away from. If someone were to ever sit down with me for a couple of wks and go thru the files they too will find the hair on their necks rising...and question what he was involved in - I have maintained that he was recuited into some covert group while in the Canon City Prison in Co. This involvement would haunt him until 1968 when he again became Duane L. Weber. The unusual things that happened during our marriage (that I do not discuss) would indicate that he still owed someone a debt and that he was afraid of someone...powerful enough to hire a private detective to find him (1990) - powerful enough to put fear into him???? I never understood many of the things that happened during our marriage - and I am sure I will never know. I do know that he was afraid of a man who came into the shop - this was when somethings came up missing and the strange story about money which I never saw - 50k. This was told to Pasternack and the FBI by an individual...who had NO reason to lie - he was former law -enforcement. A visitor he had - a woman I never met - it was after she left that the 50K surfaced and after he renewed the John Collins ID. Did he need that ID to get into a safe deposit box under that name? He took great risks to get that ID and succeeded. What he did with it I don't know. He did go out of town for a couple of days during that time...because he changed his dialysis days. I have found more things in my search. Duane worked for a company (name of company deleted). I just edited this out. This memo has dates, and there was another employer from the 60's which I have questioned. In the 60's many companies were formed and did do legitiment work, but were used as a fronts to pay individual who did special things for certain organizations. These individuals would have an excuse to be away from home at a given time for business reasons - outsidesales, training meetings, etc. which made this type of employement convenient. These companies provided employment and a source of income to individuals of questionable background - such as Duane (an ex-con). If they had an assignment they just pulled them and the person had a legitimate reason to leave town to accomplish his assignment...with no questions from the families. This explains why and how certain individuals Duane knew (they were ex-cons - as I have found out in my research) also worked for these companies. I realize that backgrounds where not checked like they are today, but these individuals had to apply for a state license which required a test. I would think if a company was providing insurance supplement programs to government employees - especially FBI, CIA and other such individuals that would REQUIRE certain requirements even in the 60's and 70's. Duane was a 6 time felon???? I read an article last night that was the story about a man sent to prison for over 30 yrs for a murder he did not commit...Joseph Salvati. In the article it says that in the mid-1960's that the FBI field agents where under pressure to cultivate Mafia informants. Salvatie was exonerated in 2001 after a task force investigated the Boston FBI Office and uncovered long-hidden documents establishing that innocent men had been framed for the murder of an individual. This article states "FBI officials up the line allowed their employees to break laws, violate rules and ruin lives." Because of all the questionable things in Duane's background - I have had the gut feeling he was involved in several things, but with no proof he was. Now with the COMMUTATION OF SENTENCE on top of all the other things - such as being in Miami during the Bay of Pigs when he was supposed to be in Co. on parole, and that was the yr that the false ID for John Collins was born in Ms. I have placed him at questionable places in the 60's...but I just chalked it up to an over-active imagination. A woman looking for some way to explain the many facets of a man she had married and didn't really know. Maybe I am CRAZY. Maybe I am NOT. Duane was a sharp shooter and I only saw this one time and it was the only time. He was in all the right places at the right time. He was seen in one of these place by a family member and this is documented in the family records before I ever met them or contacted them. The SS is real. I cannot access the SS for John Collins. According to members of his immediate family at that time he was doing great - the money was good and he was always winning the awards --- yet this company has purged ALL records of John Collins. I have said enough now that you guys will really think I have lost it. I have basically kept this between myself and good friends and have only hinted at it in the past. I have never publically stated that Duane may have had connections of some kind. Who was MOUSE - was he a snitch or was he actually doing dirty work for the government?
