What if the person survived and expected to die? What if he did manage to hold onto the money, but had to bury part of it because he could only take part of it with him? I think Cooper was surprised he survived - I don't think he expected to survive. He is on the ground and he is alive - Oh MY God what have I got myself into. I believe Cooper hid part of the money and then stole some clothes in a shed by a tower - the tower he could see a light on from a long way - he just kept going in the direction of the light. He buried the money behind the shed and donned some clothing he found there and then he blended in - just a worker with a piece of equipment in this hands. By day break he is on his way. No one would have know he was not a worker. He reaches a point where he again has to stop, but the next day makes it to the Columbia and steals a boat from the Marina - and heads right back at them - to the PDX. He spent some time in an old house across from the PDX - actually watching part of the search. NO one was looking for him there. The place across from the PDX was near the exhange and the trains slowed down there. He jumps a freight into CA. He had family there and there is no love like that of a sister. Someone explain why Duane left only this magazine in a hidden safety deposit box. Soldier of Fortune - and with the picture attached and why did he say the things he did. Why! Why is his knowledge of the area not considered? Why does the FBI say he was never in the N.W. when I know that was NOT true. No way Duane had the means or the knowledge to research the area before we went out there. He had been there and for an extended time frame. My inquiry into a polygraph test with a former FBI agent - cost is $700. It could be more depending on how lenghty. I cannot imagine a polygraph lasting 5 1/2 hours. I intend to call this guy tomorrow and ask him if he has as a FBI agent or as a citizen ever gave one that was 5 1/2 hours. Perhaps I can talk him into posting on the thread what his view of this is...after all he is retired FBI. I am going to call and ask - hope he doesn't want to charge me just for giving an opinion in the thread. The worse he can do is say NO. Perhaps someone should send Dangerous Dan some pictures of all of the suspects and see what he can conjure up in with his memories or whatever memories he professes to have. Maybe he will LD Cooper as Dan Cooper. Tina never described Cooper's hair as greasy - only that it appeared to have been died. The temporary hair dye I used when I was graying - made my hair shiny...gave up on covering the gray in 1985 and just went with the flow. The ex-wife told me she died his hair. She supposedly was NOT with him in late Nov. Dec and Jan - and his hair was grey by Feb. I also have conflicting stories from the siblings about the time frame - their mother was separated from Duane. Supposedly he called her and asked her to come back, but in Feb she tries to kill herself because he is leaving her for another woman. This part of the story never did Jive....because both of them told me about celebrating New Yrs in New York..the same time frame Max Gunther received his contacts. See I never told all I know - but, depended on the FBI to actually investigate Weber.....yet, the stepdaughter tells me she knew Duane was Cooper. She even kept some of his things. I had two conversations with the step-daughter who was in CA with her mother. She was so glad I had called when Mom was not there and she opened herself wide. She spilled her heart out about Weber - and how much she missed him and loved him. The Stocking was hung and left for Santa to fill. Christmas morning the Stocking was gone. I think we have 2 posters in this thread who are fishing for Marla. One contacted me months ago about an old friend of his father who he thought was Cooper. He was actually on a fishing expedition. I see this in retrospect and if I am wrong I apologize up front. We corresponded in PM's and regular emails - he never provide his real name. Now I believe this man was one of the OKIEs supporting Marlabecause the only name the man would provide me with was Art as the first name of the OLD friend his father knew. Now we have an Art fishing for details in the thread - perhaps co-incidence and if so I apologize up front. These guys I think are using the thread to source the story they are trying to sell to the FBI and to do a Book/Movie with Marla. If there is indeed a $1,000,000 reward as stated in a prior post, that is motive enough for the fabrication of a Cooper story. I spoke to the FBI (yes, I actually got to speak to someone) about some information I am providing them, information that might help the FBI wash Marla out of Agent Eng's life. The information does NOT involve the above discussion and I cannot tell anyone what I disclosed to the FBI. It is up to the FBI to research the information and disclose it. If the information along with the beginning of this post about the Okies is correct then Agent Curtis Eng will be vindicated. Guys this is not a "tease" and it is solid information I provide to the FBI. It does NOT indicate Weber was Cooper and is NOT about Weber directly. It comes from NO one on this thread, but from solid information which can be proved or disproven by the FBI. I think Marla and her Okies have been Hoaxed only because of my recall ability. TOM tom tom - This is skyjack talking and you know I have told the boat story over and over in this thread. Since Cooper walked S E to avoid being found he went to areas he knew like the back of his hand - the powerlines and pipelines. Have you ever seen the maps of these - Powerlines and Pipelines? I will see if I can find a map person to put them on a disk with all of the powerlines and pipelines already existing on this map and then highlighted blue and yellow by me. Duane told me about a Marina in Washougal that you could not see from the Oregon side because of the tressel on Hwy 14, This was on our way to (I thought home) that Duane took me along the OR river past Washougal and then turned around headed back toward Portland announcing we were going to Tahoe. I need to clarify this for the benefit of Jerry (the return trip from Seattle to Portland was when Duane drove East on the OR side). NOT on our way to Seattle (that was on the WA side). The story Duane told was about a boat being stolen from the marina. He mentions it was set loose Full Throttle after reaching Portland across from the PDX. He had this strange look on his face - a smile while telling me this as though he was remembering it like it was yesterday. He mentioned the only way to get away with a crime was to GO RIGHT BACK AT THEM. I never put all of this together because I did NOT even know that the PDX was where Cooper skyjack a plane - call me dumb or call me naive - that is just the way I stumbled thru life asking no questions. NOW I question everyone and everything. He talked about the ferry from the WA side to Government Island and mentioned he did some work on it. The ferry on the WA. side is where a truck and old camper was found shortly after the skyjacking. It was not reported for a few days because the owner had left it for 4 days - he was away for the Holidays. I had a woman pull all of the news articles on this. The camper was found first and then they found the truck. Did anyone even questioned if this incident could have had something to do with the Skyjacking? Read the articles and do the research. These are the things a good researcher can find. I had asked Jerry yrs ago to research these things, but ended up having to pay a girl in 2011 who lived in Portland - she worked her ass off and asked nothing in return. I paided her what I could, but it was not enough for the work she did...I still feel I owe her. Her research was remarkable - and some of the files she found at that time are NO longer Available...but, I have hard copies. She research the maps that showed the owners of the properties Duane pointed out during the trip. Why I keep harping on Barkker or a similar spelling. Another property - I did find the current owner - which was property in the family, but the Mother and Father Duane claimed to have known who had 2 sons about his age where deceased. Only one remained and he was in a nursing home with Old Timers. If JT had obtained that information when I first asked him for help in 1996 the man may have been able to provide some answers into the past of Duane Weber. On the OR side Duane told me about the small airport on the outskirts of Portland. This was near an industrial area in 1979. What I saw in 2010 had changed but I could still find my way and remember how it used to be. I spent a night at a hotel near that little airport. I had stop there on my way back from The Dalles just to rest...when I looked up and realize exactly where I was. Fate drove me there. Now Marla will use all of my research in her story - if she even gets to tell it again. You guys will have to forgive me but my memory is slowly slipping away from me. I cannot remember the details (names of places now) and I do not feel like trying to find them...but I HAVE PREVIOUSLY posted all of that research in this thread. If the FBI is REALLY reading this thread - suggest they read all of the posts I made about these places prior to going to WA and after I returned in 2010. Orange - think about this. Deathray was only 10 yrs old in 1971. He claims to know who Cooper was and yet never did enough research to get the facts about the crime. He creates his own version. I first talked to this man many many yrs ago and did not recontact him until he showed up in the thread. My recent contact with him provided no more substance than the first contact. Nothing has changed. Not one iota....The 40th comes around and he replays old stuff. I contacted Deathray yrs ago - do not know why or when. I had to contact a local business to get his number - so it was WAY before I learned to do that on the computer. The reason I contacted him was his close proximity to where Weber was living in 1969 to 1977. Thought there might be something to it - but found only what he was posted and what you guys have seen and read. Nothing to bite into. Not then and not now. #1. I have offered to take polygraph test and the FBI never requested one. If they gave Marla one - why did they not request one and pay for it in 1996 when I first contacted them? #2. I have contacted the media because I think the FBI missed somethings and the media is bias. I am not a media whore and like my privacy, hence why I made contacts by email rather than make a comment on their article for the public to see in Comments. Examples: #1. Why Cooper chose the name Dan Cooper. You guys know I have spoke often of a writer by the name of Cooper and the back fires that saved lives - something that was not taught to our forestry before - Mann Gulch. #2. Facts: such as the witnesses being able to ID Cooper after all of these yrs is now virtually non-existent. #3. Pictures for them to judge for themselves and including a photo never made public taken in 1981. (has been in this thread). #4. To enquire who the reporter was who mentioned the books during the River Tests...hoping someone might find out who the couple was. I was not asking them to write an article or publish photos - just continuing my search in the only way I can. I am also aware that some of these writers have never heard of Duane L. Weber and do not know my story. I was not looking for publicity - just continueing the search the only way accessible to me at this time. I do NOT think this is inappropriate after I have read an article they wrote and it was done by email - Not in the Comment sections of their articles. You are not as Vickie puts it "Hunky" and I am just an "OLD Woman" - there is no way for us to compete with a Blonde Bomb who has regressed memories surfacing from an 8 yr olds memory fueled by media hungery family members and a Dr. who is using hypnosis. Best to just lie quiet and let this thing play out. Marla has borrowed things from every story ever told about a suspect - but her story is flawed and it will be found out. Georger, I don't think there is a God anymore. Standing up for what one believes is only a waste of time and one's life. The only thing that will ever convince me that there is a GOD is to sit down with some pictures in private with Tina and others. If the FBI showed only a picture of L.D. Cooper to Tina that was unprofessional & inappropriate. She should have been shown pictures of multiple suspects and some insignificant pictures of look-a-likes. If an agent actually approached Tina with only a picture of LDCooper then maybe the FBI needs to walk away from this case. If I was ever able to sit with Tina & and other witnesses - I would want them to see pages of pictures of Duane and other suspects and with thrown-in's just because they looked like Cooper. Mitchell was sitting right across from Cooper and another witness near-by - they noted the hair which according to Grey was NOT mentioned by the FBI. Another stewardess also noted things about Cooper never told to the public. One might wonder WHY has the FBI dropped the ball? If they are looking for a fall guy as Cooper they would select one NO ONE could ever link to other activities...that might be considered undercover or secret. If the FBI is making a patsy out of LD Cooper - this makes a mockery out of justice. One would think they could CLOSE the CASE simply because it is 40 yrs old and turn it over to the public segments to investigate. To do so they would need to make ALL infomation on the case available. They would NOT have to provide a list of suspects - suggested or investigated, but to make the prints and any possible DNA public along with the scripts and reports. They have done this, but only to specific individuals. Grey did not missed the boat, but the only book to be written now is the hilarious saga of Cooper and all of the lives altered or used up by the Cooper investigation. I don't know if I believe in spirits or ghosts or the hereafter, but if he is out there in some spiritual form Duane Weber is saying -

The Eugene connection is bugging me. Duane's stepdaughter who told me she knew Duane was Cooper was in Eugene before she died. She was living with some other addicts trying to find her way back to - she never made it. I don't believe she took her son with her and may have left him with her mother. It was after she got back from Eugene she OD'ed....just a few months after she told me SHE KNEW Duane was Cooper. I never knew why she went to Eugene other than a "guy". Someone in the thread suggested she was in prison there. She was 16 in 1971 so she would have been born around the mid 50's, She was in her late 40's when she was in Eugene. This is the only Eugene connection I know of regarding Duane and her mother (Duane's EX) had kept some of Duane's things - wonder why the FBI never asked her for DNA items? I just do not believe that the FBI would commit themselves until they did this publically - and how could they get proof so fast. Surely LD had prints on file - as purported he was in the service and was rowdy - so surely prints exist to check with prints that could be in a suitcase or on any items within. I only stated that we crossed the Columbia at the Bridge of the Gods and that was our entry point in to the state of WA. He did NOT bury anything ON our way to WA. Our return trip from Seattle is when he made the stops before heading out for Tahoe. The stops we made in Washougal, Hiesson, The hat and the stories about the places he knew - his conversation about the towers, dams, powerlines, pipelines and airports and gravel pits, Dollars corner - these are thing he talked about from the time we crossed into WA until we reach Seattle. THere was MORE than one plant of money. At least that is what I think and the other money if found was never turned in. 1. I believe a small packet of money was thrown out over a bridge in Longview. (He had taken me down to St. Helens and we came back across the bridge - he threw something out on our way back to the WA side and when I scolded him he said it was a candy bar wrapper). I do NOT remember us getting out of the car in St. Helens. We did stop at the market on the OR side. 2. More was buried across from the PDX along the shore line...this stop is when he disappeared out of site. 3. The third was taken to Tina's bar and placed between the gate and a small building near the tree line. Like a triangle. From the parking area you could see the gate and the shed (I thought it was an out house) in 1979. Duane told me to stay in the car and I did ( the way the TV program approached the bar in 2001 - I did NOT think Tena's Bar was the place I went. There was house to my right between the parking area and the River. Still not sure, but above is the description as I remember it in 1979). If I could see a picture of it EXACTLY as it appeared in 1979 that would cinch it...but no one give me dates on what they post or pictures provided. When he came back up for the river I got out to stretch my legs and this is when he described what was across the river and knowing a man who used to live there - all I remember seeing was marsh land. He may have made that remark at the next stop below. 4. We make one last stop and that is at the Red Lion...where he threw the paper sack into the water...Duane made NO other stops in the area that day. Jo, Did you hand them Duanes safe deposit box key? The bank can't open it without two keys, their key and the customer key. I remember in some criminal case where the cops got a search warrant for a safe deposit box and the bank had to drill out the customer lock cylinder. Something sounds"off" about the story about the bank opening it outside of your presence. Banks have all sorts of procedures to protect against claims that they have pilfered box contents. I can't see them exposing themselves to such a claim by insisting on opening it out of your sight. 377 There was the receipt, I had the will and I can't remember if I found a key or not - I really do NOT remember if I had a key, but I was NOT allowed to be in the room when it was opened. My name was NOT on the box, but they never told me if someone elses name was on it. This is what happened! I have no answers for you - I have the receipt of the box and the magazine. I think the chances of a thief tossing serious money out is nearly zero. There has to be another explanation as to how the money got to Tena Bar. It's just an opinion, but I've represented a lot of criminals and not one of them would have let go of $5800 in hard cash to send a message. They'd find another way. 377 Tossing out serious money - you have to be kidding - People were still looking of Cooper's money in 1980. So Cooper does a stupid thing - he went back to retrive some of the money he hid and some of it is damaged - why not leave a calling card or perhaps a message to indicate Cooper died....... A stupid thing a dumb crook would do...a man who couldn't seem to stay out of prison. In 1979 Duane made $42,988 from one company and about $3000 from a subcontractor. I also had income that yr. Note: Duane walked away from that job as soon as the papers hit the streets in Ft. Collins. I do not believe he knew the money could actually be traced until he read it in the newpaper. The next day he write his resignation and in 4 wks he is in Alabama - leaving me with a daughter graduating from high school, prom and birthday party. After the money find in 1980 and before he left he asked me to go on a business trip with him. We left early in the morning because he wanted to reach his destination before the bank closed. He took his briefcase in and told me to stay in the car and that he had business with man in the bank (Duane WAS not licensed to sell in that state). He is back within 30 minutes and we are on our way back to CO by a different route. Have a feeling what he did in that bank was open a safety deposit box and paid it forward to 1990...he still possessed John C. Collins drivers license and Identification at that time OR he would not have been able to obtain new Identification for John C. Collins in 1990. Duane was hiding the evidence. The John C. Collins ID had expired by 1990 and he was going on diaylsis - he risked all by trying to updated his John Collins drivers license and the Highway Patrol came looking for him. What I have found out now is that the day before they arrested him - he had managed to obtain a drivers license under John C. Collins in the next county over...the license I found in the hidden wallet the man who bought the van returned to me. When the police came to the shop for John Collins - Duane had a 38 with split bullets. He was put under 72 hours observation. The Dr. interviened and because of the mental things Georger has explained about the kidney disease - the Dr. managed to keep Duane from being jailed or prosecuted by the state. No one bothered to check - but I now have the receipts for the John C. Collins license - dated the day before he was caught. The arresting facility did NOT check to see if he had actually gotten the license elsewhere and he had actually done it. What was so important he had to obtain a John C. Collins drivers license - a safety deposit box he went to shortly after that in a place he was known as John C. Collins. When he returns he open another safety deposit box in FL - the one I had no knowledge of when he died. I take the will into the office. Because I am NOT on the box name I cannot enter the room when they unlock it. They return with a magazine - and I questioned if this was all that was in the box. This is where he had put the issue of Soldier of Fortune Magazine - about "The Man Who Knew To Much". I did NOT understand this. I placed that magazine in the tax file and I still have it. For yrs I did NOT pay much attention to the magazine until I posted about it on this thread. 1980 - the 2 of us together didn't make $28,000. We struggled and this is when I found out about something he had done and I was leaving him. This is when he begged me with tears in his eyes NOT to leave and he would never do anything like that again. If he did - I had NO knowledge of it other than the Kool aid thing toward the very end of his life. You see Blevins I do have the details - just never thought I needed to do this - this is the FBI's job. All of this WAS at their disposal in 1996 - but the agent didn't know what to be looking for nor did I know what to look for. You are the ONE who insisted I was on the OR side and you KNOW that is not true...YOU are the one who insisted Duane turned me around and WE were back on the Columbia. I said NOT and you know it. Just how or why did you not get my Mountain. I was specific about this MT not too far from where the 3 cabins had been on the water...turns out that was Lake LaCames. I described that MT in detail and what was on top of it. The wire fence and the gate and the dead tall trees and the large boulders - like an old homestead,...weird feeling like a cemetary with the boulders as grave markers. If you do NOT know the facts of the case - how can you solve the crime? Your post was riddled with "I wouldnt think" "I would think" "I dont think" "I dont think" 2 x's on this Do your own research! It is mostly right here in this thread and other threads and in old newspapers and magazine article. How could you possible have SOLVED the crime if you do NOT know the details of the crime? Sorry Dangerous Dan - you have NOT done the research. Every time there is a News article or magazine article and especially on Anniversaries - someone pops up claiming to know who Cooper was just to ride the WAVE. They get shot down pretty quickly when they ignore the facts of the crime or do not do the research. How many yrs have you been doing "research" or are you just building on an idea you have about how the crime was done and who did it. If you have SOLVED it then prove it! Maybe you are one of Marla's guys! Well, you seem to be talking the walk - so go ahead. You might want to hit on Marla while you are at it.
