I haven't been here while stumbling over myself, but let me offer a possibility since someone now seems interested in the flightpath topic. I say the "official" flight path is the one shown in the plot Sluggo obtained from the FBI and made available on his website. It is not the "red point, blue point" (actually, stickpin symbol) image you analyzed. That image was produced from the FBI-provided original. In producing that image, essentially all the actual plots were obliterated/obscured. The part of the flight path we've been concerned with was produced from data from just one radar site: Mt. Hebo, OR. Two other sites were the sources for parts of the flight over central and southern Oregon. The site at Blaine, WA was too far away since it was at a low elevation and flight 305 was also too low when it was closest to Blaine, just out of SEATAC. The site at Othello had its view blocked by a ridge to its west. The data coming from the radar site came in increments of .088° (1 4096th of a full circle) for azimuth and .25nm for range. If the likely errors were more than two times these values, the designers would simply have decreased the resolution of the data. There is no point in transmitting data to a precision of 1 if the data is only accurate to 8, for example. The direction center at McChord could have smoothed the data to get better accuracy. But the coordinate data used to plot the FBI plot didn't necessarily take full advantage of the accuracy of the data the airforce had available. The data from which the plot was made was rounded to whole minutes of latitude and longitude. So the actual accuracy of the plots is ±.5 minutes of latitude and longitude. This was the source of the incorrect info about the '72 searchzone map to the effect that the accuracy was ±.5 nautical miles (should have been .5nm for N-S, but .347nm for E-W). The positions were determined by computations, almost certainly by the airforce 84th radar evaluation squadron, using the coordinates and associated time stamps obtained from the Mt. Hebo site, plus the surveyed location of the Mt. Hebo site and the earth model of the time. The 84th had, and still has, a detachment at McChord and doing such analyses was part of their official functions and still is today. The McChord direction center just used the SAGE system in their normal function of tracking practically everything bigger than a piper or cessna. They did not analyze the system or data from it. The times would have come from the 84th's output data listing, but someone made a mistake in annotating times onto the charts. The flightpath range is only .7 nautical miles wide. The positions are quite reliable within the limits of the rounding errors, but better accuracy would be very helpful. Unfortunately, the system that produced the data didn't need any better. All they needed was to be able to get planes close enough to see "bogies" visually or on their own radars. The times are a bit more problematic. The times and positions on the FBI charts are reliable if you are aware of the limitations of the data. Analyze the actual charts, not the graphics someone made based on the charts. Not having been there and participated in the decision with the crew, I don't know why. Since you were there, tell us what conditions the crew was operating under. Had they just been considering (with NWA management) whether or not to land at PDX (their first alternate landing site) since they thought they had just rid themselves of Cooper? What was the short path back to V23 south of Portland? It doesn't locate down to yards at seconds, but it would take a monumental stretch to put them near Tena Bar. Thank You, Thank You - what this poor old feeble unintelligent mind has tried to tell these people for yrs and yrs. NO knowledge of flights or paths or radar - yet, when they (lots of people) changed the time line for whatever reason I felt that was wrong. It made no sense to a layman, but whatever! NO YOU DO NOT GET IT! I know nothing about flight paths and planes - I just know what the co-pilot told me and what I read. I read and listen to the STUFF the "experts" post, but some of those are just stuff I cannot comprehend. On that subject I read it and try to understand what they are talking about but seldom intervene. I stand by what I was told by the co-pilot and the witness reports that do NOT put the plane over Tena's bar. Which by the way has been told to me would make it impossible for the Co-pilot to have seen the Vancouver - Portland area to his right. The placard was light and there were wind gusts. You do remember that Duane mentioned a grave yard and old mill in the area I understand the placard was found. What that meant I don't know. I believe that is why Sluggo suggested Duane was part of treasure hunt or group that went to WA to find the money. BUT, those that know Duane denied he was gone for any period of time during those yrs nor was there any discussion about such a "hunt". That was speculation on Sluggo's part - probably to convince me Weber was not Cooper...he presented NO proof of this and my enquiries to his employer did NOT support such a HUNT! Jo, How do you know it was a packet of money? If Duane wanted to dispose of unusable or incriminating currency, why trek to the NW and risk observation and possible arrest? He had a lot of experience in getting caught and I assume he'd learn something from that. I just don't buy the "plant portions of the loot to make it look like Cooper died" stories. 377 I DON't and DIDN't Know they were packets of money. Whatever he threw out on the bridge (the one before we got to Vancouver could not have been more than a particial pac of money). The Sack he put into the river at the Red Lion was the size of an Ice Cream Bag or large lunch bag size like we used to carry to school when I was a kid. It was folded over and the size of whatever was in it could not have been deeper than 4 or 5 inches. I did NOT see the content of the bag. What he took to the River at Tena's bar he had in his jacket pocket. He had on a windbreaker with a flannel lining. Color was blue. Whatever he took to the river across from the PDX he got out of the trunk - I did not see it and I was NOT watching. I was watching when he came back to the car and he opened the trunk and put the small shovel we kept in there back in the car. That is ALL I know. I was very very tired when I made the above post and even I do not could not follow ME. I mad a mistake about the date the money was placed - and I am sure someone caught that and is making a todo out of it. The yr of our trip was 1979 I had taken my pill when I made the post which will explain the jumble manner it was written in. The bridge something was thrown out of the car was off the main hwy from Seattle to Vancouver. It was a bridge that went across the river to Oregon. We went over the bridge and down to a couple of small towns and then turn around going due North and went back to bridge. On the OR side we stopped at a store to get snacks and to go to the rest room. He wanted I suppose to make sure I did NOT need to make a pit stop while he did what he had to do in Vancouver. I do NOT know where you guys are going with this, but I know that a packet of packets of money were buried across from the PDK and just West of there. There were house built there later - There was a railroad track. Duane parked the car and told me to stay in the car. He went down a steep incline after opening the trunk of the car. He was there for some time. I is my theory he buried some of the money along the bank at that point. Then we get into the car and go to another area West of the highway - that was Tena's bar. Besides the tree and the house there was a shed - again he told me to stay in the car and he would be right back. Then we go to the Red Lion and this is when he throws a paper bag in to the water and whatched it going down stream that would have been in the direction of Tena's bar. He had already thrown something into water at the bridge that goes over to the OR side - He told me it was a candy wrapper. Three location he threw money or something into the river. One he buried because he had a shovel. I do not remember if he carried the shovel to Tena's bar, I though he went to the shed under the trees. When the FBI took me there - the shed was not there, but the guy said there used to be a shed there. I have no idea what you guys are trying to do other than to say it was part of the spoils - it wasn't it was all planted. It was damaged and not spendable. After we crossed the river to Portland and drove along the river he points out home basically built on the water and the we go as far as where the bridge was over on the WA side, but we are on the Or. side. He mentions a marina on that other side and a boat stolen and the let the boat loose right infront of the PDX. He had a smile on his face as he said that. There was mention of man who lived in one of the house that were built out on the water. I though what a great idea. I don't want to forget the green Tank on the WA side that we stood and talked about, but he didn't put anything in the water at that time. This big Tank was green and it was on a platform for floating it on the river - I suppose to move fuel of a place for fuel to be delivered for storage for the boat or equipment used on the river. I had gotten read for bed and went out side to do the Dirty (I smoke when I am ponder something and need to keep down. It is a private thing I do. The weather to night is great and I could NOt GET my mind of of the thing Duane did in a short period of time. What he did or why I do not know. but that was in Sept of 1999 and the money if found in Feb of March and then DUANE buys 2 new cars and leaves me in Co while he goes east - after H takes some thing to Omaho and puts them in a safedeposit box. None of this is scienctific, but my memories of the man who did do some strange things on that trip. WHY! Who was Stanley and who was Mattie Fillingham - what did the have to do with this. She was related to the Fargurers who had the airstrip near amboy. Why did Duane points this out to me. Oh Well no one cars No on give a Damn - but out side to night I could smell something going on. Duane worked on Government Island - but you know this already Well, I have one more little cigar left and I am going to smoke it before I die. It is amost 5 AM here. OH, I missed this until I got to Georger's post after fooling around a little. I think that is WHAT I said? The co-pilot sits on the right side of the plane - if he is looking out his window to the right and sees Vancouver or Portland - HE cannot be crossing the Columbia at Tena's bar. Does that help. R has ALWAYS said right and NOT dead on - now at a party for Mr. H after a few drinks (someone quoted him regarding a similar statement), but I do not recall what the party claimed. Maybe that was the Pilot at the party and not the co-pilot. Right is what led to the rest of the conversation I had with R. We talked about a hwy and a couple of other places on the EAST side of Vancouver and Portland - but, everyone else told me I was a fruit cake - everyone but R and originally Mr. H, but then Mr H. changed his story later on.... I believe all of that happened when R (I like that better than Rat) had his accident if My memory is correct. R was not communicating to well for some time after that - which is understandable - pain drugs mess with your mind. My conversations with him were before and AFTER his accident. The one after the accident was not as sharp as the one yrs before that. The last conversation he had a lot going on but we had a decent conversation - I just did NOT press because I understood the situation regarding his health and his wife's health 1st hand. I have left it up to him to reconnect when he is ready - because the conversation was left at "WE need to do something about this". I had contacted him regarding all of the crap going on with Tina after Bruce and Galen pounced on her....and I felt responsible for them finding her. He then asked me to put him in touch with Tina - which I did. I have done all I can do except the WA history and the Family history regarding CA and WA. THIS is being done and they are my last hurtles - then I put it infront of the PUBLIC....LOUD and CLEAR. It will sound like an OLD BOEING is coming down on your house! So close you will feel the vibrations. Will U be on Board or sitting in the middle of the woods trying to keep warm looking for Cooper's booty. Every time the co-pilots statement comes up - and it is the SAME as he told me on the phone yrs ago - it seems I ask the SAME question EVERY TIME and no one answers it. If the co-pilot is piloting the plane he is in the Co-pilots seat on the right side of the plane and he see the lights of Vancouver or Portland thur the haze (note he says to his RIGHT) and NOT directly infront of him! NO one - not even the FBI want to reply to this. It is like it is a forbiddent subject. This statement VALIDATES what he told me yrs ago on the phone and I never never forgot it. WHY I have argued and argued with the thread and the book writers about the path of the plane. Georger, explain this to me in a simple language a Dumb Broad will get. According to the projectory of the fight as per the thread - Vancouver would have been slightly left and as the plane crossed the Columbia so would Portland. NOW you explain his statement about seeing the light to the right? NOT possible and the co-pilot also said more to me - WHY I have ARGUED till I am argued regarding the Flight Path the FBI adopted AFTER the 1980 money find was ALTERED to explain the money find and MAKE COOPER just go away. SO the FBI and others just ignore what the co-pilot has said for yrs and yrs. He was MISS Quoted by the media at a retirement party for - Mr. H. That statement is different if I remember correctly. He is on the RIGHT side of the Plane and HE sees to his right WHAT he thought was Vancouver and Portland. THIS makes NO sense and why NO ONE wants the co-pilot to talk to the media. He was stating ALL OF THIS BEFORE HIS ACCIDENT so NO one can ACCUSE him of being CONFUSED. I have heard that arguement of one particular individual - need NOT aske who. NOT one of the super sleuths will even address this - I went over and over it with Sluggo - and he just would not listen. NO one will listen. OK Mrshutter you have the simulated flight! HOW can you make the CO-pilot who was SITTING in the Co-Pilots SEAT which is one the RIGHT Front side of the plane be able to see the what he thought was Vancouver and Portland to his right. With the Flight pattern as this thread and the FBI have proposed AFTER the money find - this is just NOT possible - at least not with my non pilot dumb woman sydrome. You pilot the plane from the Left side just like you do a car. The Co-pilot sits on the RIGHT. THEY DO NOT CHANGE SEATS! Rat NEVERS SAYS in front of him or to his left - IT has always been to the right. There was a continuation of our conversation beyond that point but the thread told me I didn't knwo what I was talking about. It does NOT take a pilot or a genius to figure this out. THE FBI wants Cooper to GO away and the flight path is the propaganda they have promoted for several yrs now. If he SAW the lights of Vancouver or Portland they were EAST of the SUPPOSE route at that time and this corresponds with WHAT he stated to ME on the PHONE many yrs ago! READ my words "SNOWMMAN found the very clip that Duane was watching when he made the statement" Exactly what statement DO you think I was referring to - I was referring to his knowledge of the Boeing and the FACT he knew it could be jump from the BELLY and the fact that he told me about when the BOEING was introduced to the public.... I do not remember if this is when he told me about the paint and his family involvement - but could have been. The brother yrs later did NOT dispute this when he and I were talking. NO time or energy to go back and SEE if that is how I said it. After 1990 (because he had already started diaylsis) we were watching a program on TV. Evidently it was some kind of Documentary. When this clip came on - Duane NEVER said it was safer to jump from that EXIT - AND I HOPE I did NOT say it that WAY. YOU have a very distorted way of reading every post I make. Perhaps you should pick up the phone and call me. I speak better than I write (on a good day). IT WAS MY OPINION that he would have THOUGHT if safer if that was WHAT he had been EXPOSED to and he WAS exposed to the BOEING. He seemed anxious to view this program in the living room as he usually watched a smaller TV from the bedroom. He did tell me something at that time, but I do NOT remember what it was - the expression on his face I will NOT forget. I am tired of trying to make myself understood. I have two missions to complete and then I am done with this. I need to be working on those and not all of this. Put Duane in the presence of Derry/the Nickles or Smokjumpers and in WA & OR. Hopefully I will be able to obtain the information that will give me the answers to both question. I am running out of time, money and health - I need to make more use out of the resources I have by NOT using precious energy battling on this thread. Yes, I understand that. BUT if Cooper knew what was below him in minutes when he jumped - he could estimate about where he was. (WHEN HE ARRIVED ON THE GROUND). Definitely Cooper would not have JUMPED in a heavily populated area - too easy for some one to see him. I was going in the direction of a parked car and Green Mountain. If Cooper had a homeing device and there was a reciever of some sort set-up in a vehicle or at a place like Green Mountain with a high elevations - could he not have made contact with that device...or that communication signal AFTER he was on the GROUND. Like a walkie talkie to a CB or a reciever at one of those locations. I guess things like that would have been too bulky for him to have on him - but, I believe that DAMN battery had a dual purpose. I am trying to think like Cooper would have thought. I base this on the extra battery Duane carried in the trunk of the car. I know nothing about these things - just DUMB OLE WOMAN trying to piece things together with absolutely NO knowledge of what could or could not have been. If Cooper knew about where he was going down - with such a device he could have made contact with "someone" on the ground AFTER he got on the ground. Remember Duane taking me to the Communication VOR thing! I just alway thought that rather odd. Then his fixation on Green Mt. Well, Crazy Delusional Old LADY wants to point this out! Sorta COVERS - Green Mountain or Signal Mountain. As the Crow flies - Green Mt is Approx: 10 miles from Portland 20 miles from Amboy 30 miles from Cougar 8 miles from Heisson 6 miles from Battleground I do NOT know the elevations between Green Mountain and these location - but certainly NOT lot until you get almost to Amboy. Green Mt is the highest point off of Hwy 500 - did any of you KNOW THAT? Now I think it is important that Green MT was pointed out to me more than once and that he went up treacherous dirt road to get to the top in 1979. I dont think Blevins cares - its not in his agenda. Georger, Agreed, but in the interest of keeping the scientific method from fading into oblivion, I have actually checked the sunset time for Seattle on November 24th at timeanddate.com. The value for 1971 is not available but on November 24, 2012, the value is 4:24 PM PST. So unless Jo and/or Blevins or someone else has changed the orbit of the planet, the sunset time in 1971 was probably within a minute or two of that value. The airliner took off from Portland at almost exactly 3:00 PM PST and was immediately hijacked. The original arrival time in Seattle would have been about 3:30 PM PST. The time of 5:00 PM PST for getting the money to the airport is mentioned in several locations and, based on my memory, was originally specified by Cooper. So Cooper was planning a night jump from the start of the hijacking. And based on his arguments with the Co-Pilot, Cooper wanted to take off with the rear stairs unlocked and apparently planned to jump very soon after take off. Perhaps within 20 miles of the Seattle airport. Robert99 Ok Robt99 - discuss this. Where would 20 minutes out of Seattle without a known route or flight path - put Cooper. I believe if I am right he would have been in the middle of a deep forest and or a heavily populated area. That would have been a set-up for failure. He wanted that DOOR down because he wanted to be sure it was open and that he would not be trapped on that plane! Elementary. Knowing the door can be opened and being able to open it in flight would have been VERY tricky - so take the IDIOT ROUTE with Cooper....he didn't actually know HOW to open the DOOR. Fear of being trapped! CAUTION DOES NOT SPELL OUT A PLAN TO JUMP WITHIN 20 MINUTES! Do I believe he had a TARGET? Yes, but maybe more than one. There WAS no mention by TINA that Cooper looked at a WATCH. That was always a curiosity to me - no mention of a WATCH! So was time of essence to Cooper - doesn't seem like it! The post about the Green Mt. and Scholls airport was made because this is the first time in along time posts have been made related to the question I will forever have until the day I die. The post about CB's and signals takes my feeble and uneducated mind regarding communication back to this area (the Green Mt & Scholls) for some reason. I don't know why - if it was something he said or just something I feel or maybe remember, but can't recall. I have a good visual memory and connect those to conversations. I know I was so enthralled with the beauty of the area that I engages in little conversation, but was taking in everything he showed me and told me. Wish I could remember more! I was NOT one to question things back then. Never knew I would have a reason to remember or know more. I agee with Georger that Cooper did NOT intend to jump in broad day light or even at dusk. He would NOT have had a chance of getting away if that was his plan. The darkness of night would be the only way (logic). If the man knew the area - he knew what to look for and probably knew he would recognize almost any area they flew over from above Seattle to mid Oregon. This man had to have known the area. Cooper was NOT a stranger to WA, but he was not a resident. Why Cooper chose WA for the escapade. If someone wanted to pull the BIG ONE of the Century - he has to have a plan - even if it was only elementary. You do NOT jump out into the middle of NO WHERE without an escape plan. Why I think there was another party and that some kind of communication system was used. LOGIC. If there WAS not another person involved - HOW did Cooper get from A to Z in locations in order to escape. LOGIC. The FBI's only defense is he died and yet to be discovered and when that didn't work he was in the River! Cooper is sitting somewhere safe and sound reading little its and bits in the papers back in the East and when the opportunity presents itself - thinking he need not ever show his face in WA again. Then an opportunity to return to the N.W. presents itself, he just cannot resist the temptation of making a sentimental journey out of it. He wanted to go back for yrs, but feared it would result in his spending the rest of his life in a cell - but the temptation was too much! When the money is found in 1980 - he realizes he has to get ALL of the evidence off of him and uses an old ID he had to open a safe deposit box in the MidWest - a location he could reasonable get back to from all locations and a place that knew him by the ID he was using. Geeze - didn't mean to get off track. I came here to post about communications and ask questions. Now I am too tired to finish that enquiry - maybe later. Just wanted to discuss some other possible ways Cooper could have made communication with the ground. I DO NOT believe he was ALONE - not in a NEW YORK MINUTE! If he was he would have had to have set of some kind of transponders in more than one place - but I believe he had something with him that could be used from the air or ON THE GROUND to communicate with a second party and/or homing devices that location might have been Green Mt - by the way - it now houses a SIGNAL TOWER - how appropriate. If someone knows where towers with a light are located - he just might have walked away. Again I will ask if it was possible for Cooper to have planted homeing devices of some sort in various areas? There has to be something REALLY simple no one has thought of that could have been used by a communications savy individual in 1971. I respectfully request individuals who do NOT know the area in WA and do NOT know what it was like prior to 1980 NOT to respond to this post. In fact it needs NO response at all - it is just me trying to make sure the facts of the trip with Duane are recorded: Now to try to sort this out the 1979 trip with Duane to the N.W. for those with a genuine interest. Everyone ignores all of the media reports that came out of the Fourth Plains area. This is the location of the Scholls Airport and a jump field not far away. I read many interviews made in the area. The jump strip was located off of 500, but it was gone when I was out there in 2010. ALL developed now. These were specific things Duane spoke about and places he took me. When we returned to 500 he turned and went back East on the Highway for a short period of time and then turned around just West of Sifton again making another remark about Green Mtn. and an airport there and what was BEHIND it - lots power lines intersecting and the tower lights. Seems ODD to me that there would be an airport that close to all of those Power towers. BUT, it is a fact. I have OLD maps of how the area was in 1971 - they are starting to wear thin and wearing out in the folds, but still pretty good. This was the ONLY map I found that showed what was there in 1971. With the new maps these things just DO NOT EXIST anymore. The reports that came out of the Scholls area - dispute the planes location AFTER the FBI moved the flight to a more Westwardly position. I know the filght made a curve of some sort and that is why I think something is wrong with the later claims on the flight path - altered in 1980 to explain the money find in 1979. That is just my opinion from all of the accountings I have collected over the yrs and from personal interviews I conducted with certain witnesses. I will ALWAY dispute the altered flight path, but only on the basis of eyewitness accounts. What I think has happened with the flight pattern is that the minutes (time line) was off which affected the slight curve the plane made to an Westwardly position. My memory of the trip is getting foggy as my memory wans with age - and YOU guys already know I get EAST and WEST mixed up when I am communicating what I remember. If any of you could see this map you would see that Green Mt and Green Mtn airport are very very close. The Green Mt. that Duane took me to which JT (who was supposed to be the man who knew the area) - DENIED existed. Now GO back to our approach: This Green Mt we had approached from the Lake Lacamas side - it was North and West of the lake. THis the "hill" that Duane took me up - it was dirt road and I have described the eerie look of the place - the gate, the rocks and the trees - very tall and old (looked like it had been an old homestead but had the feel of a graveyard with all of the bolders scattered about. We doubled back from that Green Mt to Washougal (driving it is really not far). Then he takes me on this tour of that river I have forgotten the name of (how could I forget that - but, I have). After this detour we end up on 500 - and that is all accounted for in the first part of this post. Again there is the term "Green Mt" again. So on 500 I did NOT realize that the Green Mt airport and the hill behind it was the same place he had taken me on our way up to Heisson and Battleground. I really hope I am making myself understood. I am trying to show or tell you guys what I know before it is too late for me to make intelligent communications hindered by health, drugs or whatever. This will probably be my last voice in this matter and what I write here about the route, someone needs to document JUST ENCASE someone someday decides this GIRL was not delusional and off her rocker. I think I would have busted out laughing also. Stanger things do happen. Like the Walkie Talkie - experiments and I really do believe that is HOW Cooper walked out. In 1971 would someone have been able to place a "device or receiver" in an auto and use that to know when to jump with a walkie talkie in those days. Just something that has always bothered me. A car parked near Green Mountain just off 500 and on the Northside of 500...not too far from an old airport whose name I have forgotten. I is no longer there that I know of and there was a field not far from there jumpers used on that Northside of 500. I have often wondered if there was a vehicle REALLY parked there at the time of the jump. And why would Weber have told me about the car and the jump field and the air strip - especially that one. Be he Cooper or NOT, he had an awful lot of knowledge of the area. He did NOT acquire that knowledge sitting in a prison cell. This is my main focus - when was Weber there and what did he do while he was there. The answer to that question would answer a LOT of question I have in my mind. Was he just a grave digger? Was he just a prisoner digging graves and working the roads? What did he do in WA and why does the FBI have NO record of his time in WA? If I can answer those question then I can put this down. The only other questions I would like answers to regard his activities from 1962 to 1964. The wife pretty much told me about 65 to early 72 - if one can believe all she said. Like Max told me - "his contact" was usually 3 sheets in the wind and the voice seemed to match his memory of the callers teasing mannerism. Regardless only Max knows if he was telling me the truth. Sure wish he was around to hear what has been going on the last few yrs - he would probably have come out of retirement to have done another book. A higher being wanted him to be with his beloved wife (THAT man LOVE that woman). When he talked about her - you could hear it in his voice. Not many people ever experience what the two of them shared - he told me things I would never share with the world and I really wish I could have had the opportunity to meet this interesting man. His devotion to her was amazing - you could hear it in his voice and with his words. He never remarried after her death because no woman could ever have held a candle to her. So - do you have the dates and times and locations of that particular dredging being done? Where did the dredging start and when was it near Tena's bar? Hard to believe anything substancial could have been retrieved from that "20" you purchased. As for me I am concentrating on the yrs between 1945 to 1948 and 1962 to 1964. The 5 unknown yrs. I had 2 contacts regarding this today. The contact information had been held by others who felt they could so a better job than I could since they are not emotionally connected. The involvement of the "others" may have triggered the recent activity or perhaps they are just being kind to an old lady. Will the information advance my cause? I don't know but it will provide ME with some PEACE of MIND. In one case - I am the only one who knows what I am looking. Because of my memory (which is starting to fail), a name or address might mean something to me, but to NO one else. There may be NOTHING there, but I can HOPE there is a key to the past of Weber in those old files. The other contact: I got the feeling they had been expecting me to call. The individual I needed to speak with was not available, but I was provided with a time of availability. The individual who answered the phone may not have realized recent activity in to this matter may have been something no one was to discuss with me. Perhaps I am getting my hopes up for NO reason at all, but at least I know there is current activity regarding something I have been seeking for yrs. NO it is NOT the FBI. The brief conversation gave me HOPE and when I speak to the intended person, perhaps it has nothing to do with the activity and enquiries I made a few months ago to a particular organization known to me only by chance. The contact a few months ago I had backed away for fear of alienating them, but was told they (not FBI) were working on it. The information I relayed was passed on to 3 individuals who might remember what I was speaking of. The contact I made today would be the only one to have any of the old records...and the only one who might have any proof of that which I had spoke of and had sought. Yea, I am talking in circles but NO one cares what I say anyway. Will it PROVE Weber was Cooper? Hell no! But it will validate something I have said for yrs. I know people get tired of my Duane Story and when I try to stay neutral someone pulls me into the quick sand. I need to learn just to make update posts about whatever I am doing regarding my search and NOT allow other posters to pull me in as I have lately. I do NOT need to be engaging anyone and allowing me to be distracted from what I am doing. Tonight I came here because I have been re-visiting my little connection to Duane's brother. He was VERY deaf and he wrote a 4 page story about Duane he sent to me for approval. I did not try to correct him on some mistakes because he added so many interesting tidbit about Duane. John was 13 yrs old than Duane - so I showed him the respect he deserved. The material he constructed his story with - most of it was copied and sent to me. There are some documents I do not have and I consider those the important things - but he didn't. I have never shared (if my memory serves me correctly) excerpts from his 4 page summary of his brother. The cover letter was dated Mar 1997. After he sent me the copies of his research materials we found lots of error especially in dates - but it was not important it was his story about his brother and I loved that brother even though I only actually got to see him and talk to him during a meal that was interrupted by his sister's heart attack. I got to meet her before I left...the RELIEF on her FACE when she saw I was NOT the OTHER WOMAN she had met yrs before - spoke volumes. I am glad that even under the circumstances that SHE did learn I was NOT that WOMAN he had brought to her home. In the 1st page he goes on about Duane's birth and his family. He mentions he did not live with his parents when his brother was born and he also mentions that prior to the depression his father work for Polson Rubber Co in Willouby, Ohio. He mentions he had lived in N.Y. and later in CA. It appears he may have been the reason his parents moved to CA in 1943. He tells some stories about what happened after his brother came to CA in 1943 and some of the escapades Duane pulled. It is interesting how he refers to his brother and "Guest Hotels" (that was his word for prisons). When he get to the part of the story about Camp Siebert and part of his story I have no supporting evidence for...so maybe he didn't send me copies of all of it. He talks about Duane's stay in the NAVY, but it does not match the NAVY detail record that Doug and I obtain, but he states up front missing links and some fantasy and fiction on his part. He refers to Duane as "over six foot and a handsome devil with whatever it took to attract the other sex". The paragraph below is interesting: "At the time, April 1943 I was stationed at Nashville Army Air Base, Nashville, Tennessee. A very good friend of mine, Frank A McArthur wrote to confirm this clown was my brother. There was a story that he had somehow taken the Commanding General's car for a Saturday night on the town. Probably true, Frank was rough character but not a carrier of tales." Now you guy know I did NOT make that up! As I have been accused of doing in the past. Then he talks about a marriage Duane had to a Daisy Schuler on July 23, 1943. Monroe, Co, Michigan and this fits what Sluggo found. Marriage certificate showed both as age 21 when the were barely 18. The talks about 1943 when his wife of the day was picking Duane up at times from the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. He mentions there was more than one "Get together" but I am not sure what he is indicating with this. He mentions that Duane had borrowed her car (referring to his wife) and had a wreck of minor improtance. There is recorded an address of Mrs. Duane Weber - 1500 East 61st, Chicago, Ill in 1945...and thinks this might be Edna "In 1946 we receive a phone call fro a woman named Edna. This call came from Mesa, Az. She was in deperate circumstances and needed money to cover the borth of a child she claimed was fathered by Duane". He does NOT state where Duane was in 1946, but believed him to be in the N.W. He also states there is no record of marriage. For some reason John thinks Duane told me to get in touch with her - but that did NOT happen. I personally thought and related to John that I thought the daughter should be found and made aware of the hereditary condition that was in the family. John WAS almost deaf when he and I were trying to communicate. His hearing problem may have resulted in the statements about Duane having parachute training, but this was not communicated to me until 2004 after he contacted Tosaw. So exactly where John got the story is unknown. I have previously related the circumstances regarding the death of this father and then the mother. His parents lived in Arcadia, CA. After his father's death and living with his mother in 1957 Duane is using his mothers Late Model DeSota for his nightly episodes at a local bar in Duarte called "The Trails". He mentions "flooseys" as his mother claimed, but John called them "whores". He tells a funny story (he personally had no memory of) about confronting Duane with a baseball bat and advising him it would be wise to leave his mother's home and not come back. Evidently Duane had been stealing from his own mother. He goes on about driver's license and finger prints - but this was about Insurance Licenses and I corrected him, but do not know if he ever made the corrections. He somehow heard New York Life when I mentioned Family Life and American Income. It made no difference in his telling of the story - he was an old man and if he wanted it to be N.Y. Life then let if be N.Y. Life. I was NOT going to correct this old man about the details...although in my copy I made notes about the error and the documents I had which Doug Pasternak and I acquired. Then he talks about "the Fountainbleu in Miami, Florida. On Oct 22, 1962, the date President Kennedy warned the Soviet Union to discontinue the installation of Soviet missiles in Cuba. Thomas J. Roach, U.S. Army and nephew of Duane, had a conversation with him at the Fountainbleu bar". This is documented about the Fountainbleu, but the FBI did NOT even contact the nephew. Odd Place for Duane to be on that night! Right? Duane is intouch with is sister in 1969. Duane never lets his sister know where he is although he does attempt to stay in contact with her.
