The very design of the aircraft might have (should have?) included that capability right from the start - selling the 727 to the DOD etc. The people who worked out the design would know ? Its hard to believe the 727 was produced without stairs-down-in-flight and the opportunity that gave, being right on the design board from the start - The tests pilots would know -

I wonder if Himmelsbach has any proof of that whatsoever. I have flown in and around the Hillsborough/Vancouver/Scappoose area in some nasty nasty scary soup. Flying in and out of Scappoose we could still see the lights of the surrounding towns like Woodland or St Helens or Vancouver thru the clouds and rain. George Nuttall made LOT's OF Claims that are not true. If you guys think I am DOGMATIC then you need to talk to Nuttall. He will listen to NOTHING or ANYONE who does NOT agree with him completely. I spoke to the Co-pilot and - the co-pilot was able to see the lights of Vancouver and Portland thru the clouds as a haze (The co-pilot sits on the RIGHT side of the plane). So what lights did he see if - as some tell it - the flight went directly over Tena's bar. The co-pilot specifically stated Vancouver and Portland. A second instinct takes over and that is why he avoided being shot in the event they had sharp shooters out there, but the windows are basically bullet proof. A sniper was not going to fire randomly at a window with the blinds pulled down - innocent people were on that plane. Whoever Cooper was, he took measures to avoid getting gunned down. Yes he did by pulling 2 of the blinds down. I did NOT even know this was where the plane was and I knew nothing about the crime. That is human instinct - to avoid being shot - he pulled down the blinds in the seats he was sitting at. Yea, I knew this but I never read anything about it that I am aware of. Just a comment he made at the airport about 2 blinds being pulled down. He actually mentioned this on the back side of the airport, but I didn't realize he was talking about a hijacked plane and that he was the skyjacker. The twentys he took back or retrieve from a hiding place were damaged - so he wanted to get rid of the (Probably so I wouldn't see them). This was in 1979. At that time he had realized he had a life and he wanted that life. I was easy to fool. Carrying criminating evidence. That is why he had me stay in the car twice. He was unloaded anything that was damaged. Then when we cross the river and he head East on along the river - and we get down to a road that would have gone to Hood River, he turns around and asked me if I would like to go to Tahoe. I asked if we could afford it and he told me they gave him a cash bonus at the meeting. THERE where NO Cash bonuses paid. His not letting me watch TV about the crime is because it had only been a few months and he was afraid I would put the things he did and said together. I would get suspicious and call the police - this was 8 yrs after the crime. I was pretty gullible. I believe he really really did it. I was told by sources that Weber was NOT Cooper and that the witnesses said it was Not Duane. BUT, not one time did I ever see someone who could tell me that face to face....NOT ONCE. Was Weber actually Cooper - will anyone ever know the truth? Probably not! Until then - I will believe he was and if he wasn't he damn sure knew who was! I will never understand WHY on that trip to WA in 1979 - he wanted to make a side trip. On this brief side trip he instructed me to make this picture of this man. This was the last wk of Sept or the 1st wk of Oct and the location was SALT LAKE. Who was this man and what was his connection to Duane's past? I gave Galen Cook this picture yrs ago to see if it was Gossett. Galen claimed to have shown it to his wife and children - they said it was NOT Gossett. Since Galen was in touch with me in 2004 - I may have sent it to him before Gossett became a suspect. Who WAS this MAN and why WAS he so important to Weber he arranged for his wife (me) to make take this photo in 1979.? What was this man's connection to Duane Weber. The information on this thread has become corrupted and little resembles a shread of the real story anymore as it was reported. The thread has become useless except for those who wish to confuse the facts....and to bury the real story in so much Crap that NO one would ever be able to find the truths. Has become a useless waste of time lately. Cooper chose November 24 only because it was a date associated with some things in his life - good memories or bad memories. He was alone on a Thankgiving eve - a man who seemed all but lost. Cooper was a NOBODY lost in a sea of grief over a life wasted and yet bitter about this.....he had lost everything and he faced a battle with his own demons and health. He chose to go out doing the BIG ONE. Cooper never thought he would survive - he expected the Sky Marshalls would charge and kill him...that or he would spend the rest of his life in a cell. A cell was basically all he had ever known and there was NO family left. He could see NO way out - he was totally alone. His life had been useless. The recent diagnosis regarding the Polysitic Kidney disease he inherited from his mother was defeating. His life was defeated. Why did he choose WA. Perhaps he wanted to die in a place that made him feel like he belonged. A place that made him feel happy and the only place he ever seemed to connect with others. His memories of Wa and Or where the only happy memories he had. Cooper did NOT expect to live, but he survived and it was a life altering thing. He didn't know what to do - he didn't know who to turn to. He ended up contacting someone from his past - a person whose own life was not a pretty one....but, the only person he had to turn to. On the run he sent out a note - he was flaunting his survival - still hoping the FBI would catch him, but they didn't even get the code he sent to the Reno paper. He waited and still no one had a clue who Cooper was. Then he headed to N.Y. arriving there for the New Yr. and again tried to turn himself in by contacting a man who had written stories about changing your identity. As time went on - he decided it was time to step away from his past - in relationships and to try to make something of his life. He was still "heady" about what he did - but, he could share it with NO ONE. He had found the confidence he needed to succeed in life - but, he had to walk away from his Past - completely. He needed a partner to do this with and it hit him like a ton of brick on that night in August of 1977 when he went to a very high-end but low key place to have a drink..... That night he decided he had to change. Perhaps he was out to make a "hit" on yet another mark, but when he found out her grandfather's name was the same as an aliase he had use - he felt he had a shield. He was only going to use the shield for a little while, but when he met her daughter - he changed. She looked like the girl on the plane. The stewardess on the plane - he could never get her out of his mind or his memory. Perhaps he felt fate had stepped in and this girl and her mother would become his salvation. He did not become an angel, but he did make steps to be all he could and as the yrs started to unwind and he did not die of the disease as he thought he would within 5 yrs. He liked the life he was experiencing and he found himself. He became confident enough to contact his sister around 1984. Then several yrs later he knew the time was coming the - dreaded fate he had escape for way too long. Elephant - what does an elephant have to do with Cooper? Take the Baby down stair, Bring the Baby back up, I can't go till the baby gets here. I love youuu! And then the death gurgle. End of the story! I frankly do NOT believe the FBI has Cooper's DNA so HOW is the FBI so SURE of this! The DNA tests on Duane's dna was NOT done until Nov and Dec of 2007 and some in Jan of 2008 - I have the FBI report that they accidentally left in the box they returned to me. The agent called frantically telling me they had TO have that report. DUH! more mistakes. If that report had not been in the box - I would not have known the dates they did the DNA on. Bear in mind they picked up the DNA in 2003 - 8 yrs after he died and 7 yrs after I contacted the FBI. WHY wait SO long if they ACTUALLY had Cooper's DNA????? 1996 I call FBI 1998 FBI dismisses Duane based on PRINTS only. 2000 THey still do NOT have adequate or correct files on Weber - AGENT claimes Duane not in Army or in McNeil. I was holding government papers to the contrary. 2003 They ask for DNA 2007/2008 they finally test the DNA. Duane's DNA sat in that box for 5 yrs before they tested it - and I didn't think anything I sent them had his DNA on it. Glad I didn't let them have his watches and the pipe he used. What they took had been handled in a flea market and by those who came to my home. PLUS I am know as MRS CLEAN. The items had also been kept in a hot attic for several yrs. Georger YOU made ME mad! I kept my word to ED. Both of them worked for a man who had HIGH connections in the Government - all they way to the Presidents of the US and Unions. Duane was in CO in 1968 after he left prison, the FBI went looking for him and he goes to New Orleans. I know who they spent 2 wks with in N.O. but for some reason the FBI walked away and never looked for Weber or Collins again. He wasn't hiding - he was selling Insurance in AL, but something bad had happened in N.O. After Duane went to GA - a man involved in this dies a suspicious death. Do I know what happened there or why anyone would want that man dead. If what I was told was true - I would have killed the man myself had I been involved. Did the FBI verify ANY of this? How did any man pull off the skyjacking and get away. Maybe he had "insurance". Maybe he was collecting a debt he felt was owed to him. I never thought much planning went into the jump or had anything to do with "others". Cooper actually thought he would die. My gut tells me it was revenge and/or an attempted suicide and Tina's statement made to me on the phone "He was a very sad man" only solidified that feeling. Then this AGENT CARR uses the statement on the FBI sight, yet the first time those words were ever made public was when Tina told me that on the phone in 2004. And when I told it on this thread - THEN Carr makes Tina's statement and the Dan Cooper Comic part of the official FBI site. GIMME a BREAK! Carr didn't do a DAMN thing except use this thread! I have a suggestion - pull pictures of insurance salemen with dates on them from 1967 to 1971 and see what we have. Some of us would not want to show the face or the name - you can just smudge that out on your computer. I did it with a woman whose picture I posted. I will pull some from 1960 to 1972 - of the man I was married to during that time - he WAS an insurance saleman. HIS mother managed a Men's store and she made sure he was up to date. I can't remember without pulling the pics. Some are packed away that I did NOT give to the children due to the last hurricane scare. Do NOT use College album pictures as those who attended college during that era are among the privileged and not the working man. Waiters and service people are what we need. Nothing higher than a lowly insurance saleman... Now we know that tie was at least 2 inches wide so take that into consideration. We can judge this if the FBI did not provide the width of the tie. How? One of the guys on this thread found one of the tie clips and measured it...we should be able to judge the size of the tie from this. Would be better if the FBI provided the tie width at it's widest. Remember pictures can be deceiving when the tie is 'stand' alone which is the only pictures I have seen of the actual tie. I am in my 70's and a woman. 1971 was a transition stage for men's fashion. Low income individual were trying to feed their kids - not keep up with fashion. I was still married to the Father of my children in 1971. His work took him into the field (yea, another insurance saleman - I attracted them like flies to honey). He would wear clip on tied into the field because it got hot and he could undo it in the car and it was easy to put on before he went to his next appointment. The wider ties did come into vogue in the 70's but, not in certain fields - like salemen working debits, waiters, head waiters, doormen, bus drivers. Clip-ons were easy and cheap. I will note the tie the FBI presented was not the real narrows of former yrs, but still considered narrow by fashion standards.

I haven't replied because I go to bed earlier now than I did before. Remember we have a 2 hour time difference. What was said was directional lingo & I don't remember much more. It was coming from the plane above us and we were going in the opposite direction. THE SOUND WAS DIFFERENT AND WHY IT GOT MY ATTENTION. Same kind of communications I have heard when I flew in small craft over the yrs. Only a few times - private planes...some business and one gentleman friend. Also having serious problems staying on line - I keep loosing the thread and have to sign on 2 or 3 times just to finish a post. The response Duane gave them was something about frequencies. That is all I remember. THis was 1978 in WY. Some how that communication came in on our CB. Whatever - I am tired of hashing it over. I have told you what I know and yet, you guys keep tearing apart what I try to say and then twisting the words as someone did above in another post. I did NOT say a plane was flying in a snow storm - two different stories about the same road between these two cities - Cheyenne and Rock Springs. THe weather was cold and crisp - no snow or storm in the area the day the plane passed over head and the transmission was picked up on the CB. I never SAID A PLANE WAS FLYING IN A SNOW STORM! That was a nice clear cold day - but not snowing. We traveled the state of WYM to sell insurance. We often spent days in Gillett and Jasper. The road to Cheyenne is very long and barren (at least it was in 1978). When you invest in motel rooms and there are two of you - one on the phone booking the appts and the other running the appts. You set an appt and you do your damnest to keep it. If there was bad weather predicted you headed home. The trip the CB received the message from a plane was NOT to Gillett or Jasper. We were on our way WEST from Cheyenne to Rock Springs. I DID NOT state that the CB was connected to that big battery. I understood it to be a back up encase we got stranded which we did twice - once in a white-out trying to get to Cheyenne from Rock Springs, but because of the GOOD CD the last truck allowed to get thru was to pick us up - but the guy and Duane managed to get us out and we followed him into Cheyenne. Last vehicle through! The story about the Battery comes from MY asking him what it was for - and what I told you is what he told me. It was encase we got stranded in a snow storm. I did not question much of any thing he said..... If you do NOT live in WYM then you do NOT know these storms back in the 60's and 70's could come in fast and hard. We made a hazardous trip from Gillette, Wy to Ft. Collins Co in a lot of snow - because we had to get back and Duane was NOT afraid of anything. We had chains and a snow shovel in the trunk and that damn battery you guys are telling me didn't make any sense....well, it was there... Perhaps the battery was a pacifier so I wouldn't be so afraid... There were people back then being air lifted out and the planes found them by flying over the snow packed road looking for stranded cars (AFTER THE STORM IS OVER). When road equipment could not reach them due to the extent of the snow and distance from populated areas - they sent copters to air lift them out if it appeared it would take too long to get road crews to them or not accessible. If they were not found and if their car battery ran down - they ended up with frost bite and some dead because of the cold and some because they ran their engines without digging the snow from around the exhaust. Somewhere I have pictures of roads we traveled after a storm with cars still on the sides or in coverts off the road with little showing except for the very top of the cars.. I do not know how to explain why we took so many risks - but I never questioned his abilities to pull us through (except that one time and I think he was even worried). I do remember something some one said to me about Duane's system. A man who had worked on his CB - What you said above is why I remembered what the man said. The man told me he did NOT understand WHY Duane had the system he had - but DUMB OLD ME didn't know what Duane had was any different than any other CB - to me a CB was a CB. What kind of system could Duane have had - and WHY did he carry an extra car size battery in the trunk? He told me this and something you guys just ignore - If we were stranded in a snow storm that we would be able to communicate with the planes... What kind of system would he have needed to do this? AND still communicate with the truckers. The guys said something about the range of the equipment, but I didn't pay any attentions this was before I had any reason to have any knowledge of such things. I have also said in the past that Duane knew were very small airport was in WA and OR -why? So if what you said in your post is true - WHY has the thread spent all of this time BASHING me? Basically calling me a liar and that it did NOT happen! We flew in and out of this or that and there is another airport over that way - I don't think he missed pointing out one small field that we passed even though you could not see it from the road and there were NO signs. Smoked jumpers communicated from ground to plane and visa-versa in the 60's so HOW did they do this? Small plane communicate with the ground on search and rescue before there before the new age of electronics. HOW? Boats as sea communicated with planes - perhaps only a signal, but it was there in the 60's and 70's. How as this done? I do NOT know what kind of system Duane had but we did receive a plane communication between Cheyenne and Little Rock Wym. I do not know if Duane's communication was received by them as they were going in the opposite direction. We were going West and they were going East. The range was short, but it did happen! And regardless of what you believe in the physic sense, the odds of winning are still exactly the same. A few days ago, Jo Weber wrote about her 2010 trip to the northwest and her refusal to allow Sluggo to accompany her. She wrote that Sluggo had an aura of "negativity" about him in the sense that he was not a True Believer that Duane was Cooper. So Sluggo stayed home. Perhaps Jo is ahead of her time with physic phenomena, as just explained by Bruce, but she should start relying more on solid science if she wants to make any progress, one way or the other, in determining if Duane was Cooper. But all advice to Jo is a waste of time since she already "knows" that Duane was Cooper. Robert99 JO does NOT believe in this kind of junk science if you could even call it that. I did NOT want Sluggo or anyone with me - it was something I had to do on my own. Sluggo I believe understood this. I appreciated the offer of help. Should I be able to make a second trip - the aid of those who know the area would be helpful....but, this would be older life time residents of the area in question. I was exploring a past trip I made to WA with Weber in 1979. I needed to be behind the wheel myself. I needed to be alone and with my thoughts and my memories.
