All I did was re-tell a story from the beginning of my research. I know they found the rifle, but the rumor of 2 rifles and more than one gun man has NEVER been disproven. NOTHING I have not told in the past - at least I do not make-up stories about a man I never knew. I lived with this man. I do NOT know what he put into the trunk of the car nor do I know WHY he was so upset about the rifle that was stolen! One can read ANYTHING they want into that - but what he told me and what he did was first hand accounts. What he put into the trunk was the size of a rifle and wrapped in a blanket. A rifle showed up in our home after he sold the Marquis & bought a station wagon. I did not feel I could or should tell the story without telling it in it entirety to explain when foreign comics and how James Earl Ray were a part of Weber's life. The story is true, but you read whatever you want into it! What I tell is least first hand experience and not hearsay coerced from elderly people. Telling the story about the comics without telling the complete story would be deception...and I can assure you someone would have looked it up and pointed out the other things - I just beat them to it. I did it my way and my way is usually not right - I just follow my heart and my memories. I did NOT state the comics were Dan Cooper comics, because all I know is they were foreign. You will find what Ray did in prison was NOT just a story from Duane and his wife - but common knowledge! I will tell you this: When Doug listened to that TAPE - the hair stood up on his arm and the back of his neck. He replayed it and just said WE ARE NOT GOING TO GO THERE! I agreed at that time we SHOULD not go there. Seeing the Jefferson file after I begged and pleaded with the FBI about it - NOT sure what to believe about a lot of things right now. I believe I am due an explanation of some kind. My question is - DID the witnesses get to see the Jefferson pictures? Then I ask myself - am I seeing things no one else can see? The only thing I ever found interesting about the Comics was this: When researching James Earl Ray who Duane claimed to know and the ex-wife then verified his story yrs later. She told me about a girl friend/or wife of Ray's who stayed with her for a few wks. The ex could not stand the woman's cooking which was foreign so the living situation did NOT work out. Duane told me about Ray after he told me about Jefferson in 1990 due to the drivers license he had obtained for John Collins. The ex-wife verified this yrs later (I RECORDED IT), but the son who was only 6 did not remember the woman. When I researched Ray - I found another prison was a writer in the prison - (Duane had told me about him). J.J. Mahoney I found the writer, but he had been deceased for a few months when I found him. Both Duane and Mahoney told about Ray selling comic in the prison yard. They foreign, but the picture were nice to look at. Ray's girl friend supplied the comics. NOW I was NEVER able to VERIFY any of this....but it is from the early part of my search and it has been told before. There are emails and research material (all dated) proving what I have claimed. Prior to 2000, everything I did was by mail or phone calls. My search for JJ Mahoney was after I got a computer in 2000. What I had been told was right there - in a story told by Mahoney and it jived with the story told to me by Duane and his wife of the day! STRANGE you guys brought this up and I actually did the damn research. Until we discussed the Dan Cooper Comic in this thread I considered it un-important and still do. UNLESS some of those damn comics where DAN COOPER COMICS! What would be the chance of that? Later when Ray was in AL before he died I tried to arrange to talk to him, but that was not being allowed. I still have the communications between the attorney and myself. I had wanted to know about the story I had been told about Jowers and had forgotten about the comics...I wanted to know if Ray remembered Weber. IT was shortly after that Ray died and then Jowers died...I never got to talk to either of them. They were only about a 3 hr drive from me. Later I would be told there was NO wife/girlfriend - this was in a thread so I do not know if these individuals knew what they claimed. My exploring the past of Weber has gotten me into so much DO DO - but, there was NO other way to find out about this man I spent 17 yrs with. My explorations hurt my credibility - but NO one was going to tell me about WEBER so the only way I could find out - was DIG AND DIG and DIG. I was never able to discredit what Duane said or what the ex-wife said nor was I able to prove it - so I moved on! Remember that Jowers was still alive in 1983 when Duane took me to the location King was killed in. Remember he left early that morning and gave me instruction if he was not back in 45 minutes to take the car and go to Atl and he would find me. We did not have a cells and I had never had the keys to his car nor had I ever driven it. He returned and I was watching out the window of the 2ed story hotel we stayed in - he put a long covered item into the trunk of the car. It was on this trip he told me about he and the EX hiding something behind the bathroom mirror in a room. He said if you removed the mirrored cabinet there was a great hiding place down behind it. He showed me a building and mentioned it was scheduled for remodeling. I later found ALL of this was true. He showed me where the rifle man was when King was killed. NOW you guys can understand why I went off into the covert world for a while...and why the FBI discredited me. I am the one who connected that damn rifle which was stolen from our home in 1988 (probably NO connection). When we got home from a trip in 1988 - we walked into the house and I said "We have been Robbed" and Duane turns around and goes to the coat closet and says - DAMN they took the rifle....yet so much more was obviously missing - the TV's, the microwave, anything of value, boxes labeled treasures (well they got a big surprise - those treasures where old linens my family brought to this country). They got my sterling which was gifts from family during my first marriage - got it all. I think they were looking for a line of jewelry I sold to stores - I had the samples with me on our trip. Snowmman was the first in the thread to mention the Dan Cooper Comics and then Larry Carr put it on the FBI site - LIKE it was fact! That really pissed me off and I let the FBI know it. Interesting the 1982 article connects the Comic to Cooper. Wonder if this is why Snowmman brought it up? Where is Snowmman any way? 1982 - that was interesting and something NONE of us were aware of. Nahh! Cooper's glasses were much wider and you have to put hair on Weber - he had a prison cut with no sideburns. Those Glasses are WAY too small. Have to work with the chin and have his face looking up and not downward. Nice try - but needs a bigger pair of glasses. The stems on the aviator glasses are also thicker than regular glasses. The simulator are able to bring his chin up and put hair on him and sideburns but, haven't tried Glasses. Of course an artist concept is just that a concept. Put the Aviators on this pic! Marla Cooper can claim all she wants, but anyone with an ounce of sense would know there was NO WAY DL was Cooper due to his age. Marla pranced her twisty butt in front of the media and made claims the FBI did not attest to. Now, they will be closing the case - permanently - NO one else will be investigated unless they can produce a $20 bill! Or perhaps something more positive! With Weber there was a confession, but that was only my word so 17 yrs later there are still no answers. The FBI had the packet as of June 6th, but NO word. Do not know if they even OPENED the packages! Doubt they showed them to the witnesses and if they did - it has been almost 42 yrs, so unless there was something very specific never revealed - we will NEVER know who Cooper was. The legend will live on and there will be more suspects - but there was only one Cooper and I believe with all of heart and my soul - I had him all along! The eerie wallpaper of the 66 Jefferson file with other photod posted with remarks made quiet an impression on some people - MOSTLY the word eerie! Not everyone was able to see the wallpaper and that may be an aol thing. I just know it had impact on those who could see it. The others probably shrugged their shoulder and thought - How pathetic! I have an actual copy of the Cooper Composit that has NOT been altered and or smoothed out. It was provided to me when I requested it after they sent the letter to me. There are too many altered composites on the dockets out there. If you take the REAL unaltered FBI composite which shows the lines and the artist strokes - ENLARGE IT TO LETTER SIZE. The enlarge the picture of Duane Weber from Jefferson and enlarge it - put them side by side and you will know without a question who Cooper was. Remember the arguments given by one of the witnesses about the hair line. She kept telling Roy Rose the hair line was IRREGULAR like little widows peaks - none of the artist got it - LOOK at Weber's hair line. Make a little allowance for his not having some lower teeth and the fact his head is slightly down in the intake photo and he is looking up. Look at the lines in Weber's face and the composites features. After you enlarge it sketch in some hair and side burns - THAT is as close to the SKETCH anyone has ever come. Note things about the eyes that are shown in detail in the composite the bridge of the nose and the raising and shaping of the eyebrow. Note the lines under the eyes - DEAD ON! Then follow the lines in the face. Also remember that Weber had a softer side also. When one of the witnesses said the pic of DL was getting close - she did NOT realize that the man in the picture was only 31-32 yrs old. The man sitting beside her was in his 40 - well in his 40's. Stewardess are good at judging age - after all most of them were there to meet a rich guy. The common JOE did not fly by plane a lot in the early 70's. The FBI can deny this all they want - but this will hit front page on ever major newspaper across the US and other countries. It is my end lift wish and efforts to do this. Justice should be serverd. The victims need to know he didn't really get alway - and the he did loose a majority of the money. Until someone can convince the man who bought the VAN that he commited no crime by keeping the few hundred left in the Van that part willnever be known. Omaha - well, he was rememberd in Omaha. I got a chuckle ( well, actually LOL) out of that observation! Not one peep out of the FBI - SO I move forward with my plan! They have had a wk since they recieved the materials for consideration. Anyone trying to reconstruct Weber's life from 1968 to mid 1972 is treading in water. I am the only person left to tell that story. I tried to get the FBI to allow me to see her - as just a friend but wired. I felt she would open up to me. The FBI BLEW the interview with her. I later communicated with her and won her confidence. The things she shared with me NO one will ever believe. It took many nights at 2AM and and 3AM talking to someone 3 sheets in the mail. I had to be at work at 9AM. I have my notes and a couple of recordings. She died in Nov of 2004. I spoke with her daughter who died 2 yrs before the mother. The daughter supposedly died of an over-dose. I had only 2 conversations with the daughter - the first one was when I first contacted her mother and she convinced her mother to talk with me. The second was not too long before she ODed. I had called to speak with the mother in during the day - hoping to avoid a long early morning conversation and the daughter was HOME ALONE. She had hoped I would call sometime when her mother was not home. She OPENED up and told me thing NO ONE will ever believe that knew Duane in the later yrs of his life. She talked about a son she gave away and about Duane. She told me she knew Duane was Cooper and that she had some old things of his she kept. She said "Duane was D.B.Cooper". The conversation would never have taken place had her mother have been home. She had just returned from a stay in Oregon around Eugene (I guess it was a rehab program, but she claimed it was a man who was going to help her and provided her with a job cleaning). 1968 to mid 1972 - there is only one person and he was a child and grew up to be a good guy, but haunted by this past with his mother and Duane. He told me the story about the tie and where it came from. Was it Cooper's tie - there is no way to know that? Duane had received a birthday present from the step-daughter in 1970 - it was a tie clip - his birthstone. Duane was born June 18th 1924. I have notes of my conversations - scribbled and some I can no longer make out or remember the meaning of the note. NO one knows more about the time from 1968 to mid 1972 than myself and what I know came from the people who lived with him. His employers of the day - knew nothing about his personal life. Yes, I spoke to one of them - the other one I was warned NOT to speak with...as he was a dangerous man. There was another employer who moved to Ft.Lauderdale who Duane went to see on 2 differenct occassion during our marriage...alone! I know this man's name and that he had a very very fancy car (one that you change the top with a lift in his garage). The only thing Duane EVER told me about this man. It was always that he was going to see him about some business. The wife before me entered the picture some time around early 1972 or late 1971 - but she is talking to know one and maybe deceased now. She found out what he was during her marriage and called him some really bad name - I didn't know the man she ranted about - because that was not the man I had known for 18 yrs. His best friend didnt' know the man I knew - he is still alive and keeps intouch with me. This is the one that JT has misquoted (deliberately misquoted) many times. JT evidently represented himself as FBI to the guy - but he doesn't remember now how JT identified himself. This old friend has been adamant that the story JT told was a lie. Jo States: Remember I spoke many many times with the Woman he was with in 1988 to 1972. THEY TRAVELED!. They went to KS and then to AZ and CA. Duane left her in Phoenix with her sister and he went to CA/WA - susposedly about money his parents left him and the brother screwing him out of his share (what he supposedly told her). When they were CA he left her in a hotel for a wk by herself while he went else where. This was before the crime. Thieves travel on stolen money or did you not realize there were many crimes Duane committed without getting caught - I KNOW this for a FACT! In 1970 and 1971 - they made many trips to FLA and other places and they came home with suitcases full of furs and jewelry. This was told to me by a child who was only 9 yrs old at the time. This child found me thru this thread! When he called me he thought I was the "other" woman. He told me things that broke my heart - things Duane and his mother did. After he realized I was not the woman who Duane took up with at that time - he spilled his heart and soul to me. He is a tormented soul and I just listened. He has many problems due to the way he was raised and I wanted to hold him in my arms and make the pain go away. We communicated for a while but his emotional problems got so bad the wife asked that I cease talking to him. I HOPE with ALL of MY HEART and SOUL he has found the strenght to go on and be all he can be. The things he told me I do NOT repeat and I cry when I think of him and the life he lived and how it affected him. If I had been able to have paid for treatment for him I would have done so - I am sorry, just talking about this is very very stressful for me and it was very stressful for him. You see NOT all you need to know is on a piece of paper! NOT even a fraction of it. There is much much more to the sordid yrs of 1968 - 197l and some of it extended into the first 3 months of 1972. NO MORE will be said about this in the thread. I have tried to do what I had to do without involving others and causing them more pain than they deserve to suffer. I have had enough - YOU do NOT know the things I know and others lived during those yrs - if you did it you would have your head in the toilet puking! If Weber was alive and I knew the thing I know now about those yrs and some of the yrs following that - he would have been back in prison. Some how for some reason - I never saw this horrid monster streak Weber possessed. I got a glimps of it after he went on the Machine - thank God it was short lived - but for wks I lived on pins and needles - never knowing what he was going to do or say for about 2 months. You are correct! I thought the same thing - that you had to be 21 - but it was 18 in the day. At least according to those who did the research about that time when we were discussing all of this before. Robert this was discussed before. I did a detailed review of the files about the McNeil thing. Duane had been charged in CA with a Federal Crime of stealing government checks. As he was awaiting trial in late 1944 he took off and headed East. He was found, but without going back to those records and letters to his mother I can't possibly keep all of this in my head. When he was found (due to a petty thief crime - probably food) the authorities wrote his mother a letter that he was being sent back to CA. When he arrived in CA. in early 1945 (only days later) he was sentenced to McNeil and transported immediately. During the time he took off from Ca in 1944 - was arrested and sent to a county facility and when they did the check found the outstanding warrants in CA. I was told that the judge he was going before in CA. was HARD LINE and Duane was scared and ran away. Because the crime commited in CA was the theft and or forgery of federal cks, I think that is why he was sent to McNeil. Mrs

I have worked in the insurance industry myself and with Duane. We were able to hold a resident and a non resident license in an adjoining state. Unless you were with a commited insurance company you could have an optional company to provide a person with an alternative policy....that your main company could not provide. Most companies are committed. During the yrs Duane and I worked together we were with a commited company that provide benefits. During the time in Alabama - Duane was working with 2 companies and each knew about the other. One was an educational policy and the other was supplemental insurance for union workers. Come on Jo -we arent idiots! Most ordinary insurance agents have or work out of an OFFICE. They are NOT free to roam the United States looking for clients. Your excuse: "Duane worked for multiple insurance companies at one time" is completely and intentionally misleading on your part. Duane was NOT a traveling agent with responsibilities beyond a defined territory ! He would have been licensed in a State in a region, period. Your statement: "worked for multiple insurance companies at one time" is completely misleading. He would have SOLD policies held by "multiple insurance companies" through a particular office in a region (or small territory) ... as per the terms of his employment and his State license, period. His job did not require him to travel willy nilly. You make it sound as if Duane could pop up in Ft Wayne Texas at any time - because of his insurance job - looking for clients or servicing clients? Agents have to make and report sales, in a home territory. Its just that simple. An agent that doesn't IS NO LONGER EMPLOYED IN his home OFFICE - PERIOD! The man I am referring to is the bum who got off a train right after Kennedy was assinated and was arrested and questioned. His picture was all over the papers! NOW you guys who CLAIM to KNOW it all - find out who that guys was! I thought I remembered it was Ron Howard's father and if it wasn't Ron Howard it was another person connected to movies. Insurance agents in the day did NOT report to an office every wk. Even in CO we would only go to the office about once a month and sometimes not at all. We mailed our apps in and recieved our commissions by mail. No need to make a 2 hr drive into Denver...especially if you had traveled from Casper to Gillette following the leads. No one knew where we were working. Some time we worked out of Ft. Collins and the surrounding area. There are no clocks to push and rarely mandatory meetings. Duane was almost always what was referred to as a Traveling and Free lance agent. Our office was in the car or in our home. We went to the client. Sensiless to try to explain commissions and free lance to those who have worked all of their lives on a Pay Check and had to report to an office. JUST believe ME when I TELL YOU THERE IS NO WAY TO PIN DOWN WHERE DUANE WAS AND WHEN UNLESS YOU HAVE AN ACTUAL INSURANCE APPLICATION IN YOUR HAND - THAT IS DATED! ALL of them! Other than what he made under other names! Lots of missing yrs because of prisons and living under aliases 1962 to 1968 is blank as he was John Collins during that time.
