Ha! I forgot all about Sunny. I love that show. I ran into some couple from Atlanta at Bridge Day and their dog's name was "Dumpster Doggy" which promoted a huge discussion and I started watching it after that. Anyone gonna watch it? I definitely am...i hope it's good. I'm not really a big TV fan at all, i pretty much just watch what is on my DVR which tends to be movies and HBO and FX shows. I was a big fan of The Shield and I almost hate to admit it but my girlfriend got me hooked on Nip Tuck in the second to last season. FX seems to have some really good shows and they always have killer soundtracks to go with em. Anyone watch Sons of Anarchy? I have been meaning to start watching that one too. I havent played BC2...honestly it doesnt look that appealing to me. I'm not really that big of a gamer. I'll get bored with a game and go months without playing until something else comes along and perks my interest. Another jumper recomended MW2 cuz she knew i was a Halo fan and I am hooked. It is SOOOOOO much better than Halo and i swore i weould never say that "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero

I attended a wedding in Florida over NYE this year but flew out of Huntington WV instead of Cincy so my grandmother wouldn't have to fly alone. I had my base rig packed nicely into my carry on bag. Experience has taught me I can go through the security line QUICKER by telling TSA that there is a parachute in the bag before it goes through the xray. So i do just that. The guy looks up at me and his face turns white and he goes "Ah man....it ain't one a them with the computers inside is it?" I started cracking up knowing he meant a cypress and said no it doesnt. I get though to the other side and they ask me to open the bag so i unzip it and there is the base rig. The guy looks at it then looks and me and points to the skulls embroidered on it and says "You have a funny sense of humor." I can only imagine what kind of looks i would get on the plane if I had worn THAT rig on board, especially since it was a flight to St Pete....so my girl and I were the only ones onboard less than 60 years old. Is this normal for static line?

Is it still considered a PCA if the person holding the PC doesn't pop the pin(s)? A PCA in base where the holder doesnt actually pop the pins is called a freefall assist. I didnt know if this was also the case in skydiving. "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero -
I just think its EASIER to NOT carry it "naked." I have a really old and super cheap carry on suitcase with wheels. I can fit my rig, freefly suit, shoes, plus helmet, alti, etc. It's easier to get through security, easier to carry, doesnt attract unwanted attention, and you dont have to worry about snagging anything. Does your school have it's own portal you can login and go through? When I was at Xavier I always had trouble accessing Blackboard directly, but if I went through the XU portal first I had no problems. Quick question for any law enforcement savvy people here
jtnesbitt replied to LisaH's topic in The Bonfire
Depending on the testing method alcohol can in fact be detected in urine. I know many companies that do drug testing also test for alcohol. As to whether or not someone on parole would be tested that would be a question for the PO as several people have already mentioned. Air Traffic Control: So Easy a Caveman Could Do It!
jtnesbitt replied to Andy9o8's topic in The Bonfire
Funny you mention that, because I did the same thing this kid did around 18-20 years ago but i cant remember exactly how old i was. At the time we had just sold our FBO and was operating our charter service out of a the airport in Huntington, WV. My cubscout troop took a field trip to the tower and since i had "experience" (talked to my dad on our radios at our old operation ) I was allowed to hop on and make a call. I was young, and it could have been fake, but i definitely remember making a call from the tower. Unfortunately I can't remember if there was a response. -
Really unimpressed with arrogant twatmuppets.
jtnesbitt replied to Calvin19's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I would have asked more questions. Could have been done on the spot or while looking at the gear. Either way I would have more information to make a decision. It would be very easy (and friendly) to chat with the jumper about his experience. If i felt that he lacked the experience to safely do what he wanted to do then i would let the person know and maybe recomend a course of action or a person to talk to. (Since you said myself giving the information wasn't available.) If the swooper was truely worried about Calvins safety he could have asked another question. Even "hey that's a pretty fast canopy, do you have any experience on it?" or "how much do you weigh?" The answer to either of these questions should have put him at ease enough to answer a simple packing question... The point in both the real situation and the hypothertial one is that it would be wrong for the person who is being asked the question to make an assumption based on the answer to one question. Isn't everyone always whining that we need to look out for each other and be more supportive to instruction to keep our sport alive? jtnesbitt replied to Calvin19's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It is ignorance because the twatmuppet made an assumption and gave an answer without attempting to get the proper info. That's ignorance. OK, so Calvin said he rounded down to 500. Whatever. Let's pretend he does have 500. Whats wrong with a skydiver with 500 jumps with a 1.35 WL? Calvin asked a simple question and the swooper refused to give him a very simple answer. What's the difference between a sky rig and a base rig? A: A skyrig comes with an asshole under it and with a base rig its just an option. (Ok Copland more than 10 skydivers will read this so where's my money!?) Seriously though shit like what you went through drives me crazy. Jump numbers are ONLY there to give someone a very generally idea of where someone is coming from. BASE is a great example of this. Some have started out base jumping with no prior skydiving experience and are still great jumpers today. On the flip side I have also seen skydivers with thousands of skydives slam into trees at BD and also end up on the BFL from screwing up their first jumps. In my opinion, jump number recomendations are pretty much only there to encourage people to WAIT and see just how much they don't know. It shouldn't be a rule like some people make it out to be and your experience is a great example. I would bet there were VERY few if any skydivers at the DZ that day that had a better understanding of flight than you do, yet you get talked down to. Skydiving has evolved so much that we have essentially almost eliminated Darwinism but unfortunately with this came the birth of the Skygods. Who? Sangi or the OP? Sangi is always around, and he and I have gone back and forth a lot on this board as well as others so he knows I am just messing with him. If you mean the OP then that is fine. He needs to do some research of his own anyway. "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero

Well, in terms of skydiving I would have to say I agree. Pretty much anyone and everyone can skydive in present times. Proximity flight however is a different story. Eh, not really. If I recall correctly they originally got that nickname from being observed in the wild hunting seals. Apparently when they "thrash" it's quite ferocious. Also... wasn't there an incident involving a group of Orcas making a quick snack out of some seals that were being released back into captivity a number of year ago?
