  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FL7yD-0pqZg&feature=player_embedded Awesome. I dont have a problem with the iPhone but the hype is beyond ruh-tarded, I was half tempted to line up at 5AM with the couple hundred of douchebags that were already there just so I could buy one and smash it in front of them without ever turning it on. Now THAT would have made a good YouTube video (Edit to add to the title that this is a funny video so people dont think it's another technology comparison thread.) 2. I think had they said nothing it would have been fine. Unfortunately they opened their mouths and look stupid. Had they not done so I doubt anyone would have thought anything about it...but now we are That last minute change is BS. I dont care there is a Brit on the cover, in fact its great. This country is made of immigrants. What I care about is they flat out said "Hey, we had a great idea, but it didnt work the way we thought it would so instead of doing a little extra work we decided to half ass it with this one." I mean, how hard would it have been to find another great picture of a flag jump? They happen all over the country almost every day of the week. That being said, again, i dont have a prob with this months cover, great shot, I just think the way they handled the situation was stupid and lazy from a PR point of view. 3. My guess, is that you are comparing posters in the SC to the person "sleeping." Basically the game keeps going until the sleeper gets the sound they like best, whereas here, the conversation keeps going until the OP gets the answer they like/want. That is just and guess however, and hey, its the SC, so can i really be wrong? 5. Good training is key, I've seen other dogs tip toe around lines before including Phreezone's dog and I believe she is still fairly young. Since he does a lot of rigging at home though she has been well trained. The problem is EVERYONE thinks their dog is well behaved, when in most cases its not true. Even if they are well trained at home they might behave different when they are exposed to so many strangers at once when taken to the DZ. Same can be said for kids. I have seen 12 year olds trip on people's lines running through the hanger but i have also seen kids 2 and 3 stepping over, around, between the lines and also doubling as packing weight. I do have to admit, it is quite funny to see a dog stepping between linesets "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero
  6. I believe several DZOs got tired of them running into the props and even more jumpers tired of them tearing up gear or shitting everywhere because their owners thought the DZ offered free puppy care while they jumped. 7. Hahahahaha, i had to read that like 5 times and finally once out loud before i got it! "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero
  8. Will you and your wife be making several hundred jello shots again this year? If so you might wanna add that to the list of activities. IIRC there were several dozen outstretched hands at your camper at one point last year "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero
  9. Maybe it fell under that whole graven images clause Thats what I was alluding to with my Golden Lamb restaurant comment. Spending $300,000 on a statue? yeah...if I were God that would piss me off considering the number of people Cincinnati has living under the bridges. That's just the tip of the iceburg too. The facility is HUGE. We're talking multimillion dollar campus. It looks like a Country Club one would find in the Hamptons as opposed to a church. 10. This is quite literally right next to one of our favorite 270ft free standers that gets jumped all the time. I am still trying to figure out how this 61ft statue got struck instead of our tower....or 1 of the two HUGE flag poles nearby, or the high voltage power towers right behind the church... Another small peice of irony is there is actually a restaurant called the Golden Lamb just a few miles away That's all I feel like saying about that, arguments on here about whether God exists or not are slightly less intelligent than a couple preschoolers arguing over who ate the play-dough. 11. The best course of action is to call each DZ and ask LOTS of questions. It sounds like you dont know what the prices include and you REALLY need to know that as they might or might not include equipment rental, coaching, instructor slots, etc. "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero
  12. I caught too much air in my vagina during my 270 toggle whip and it killed my speed. "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero
  13. I have seen numerous groundings for low pulls, as well as a few for erratic canopy piloting, and a few for major safety violations. With the exception of the lowpulls, everyone was warned before they were actually grounded, in other words they had a "freebie" before the actual grounding. (Billvon style ) Did the grounding work? Eh, who knows. I know two of the lowpulls quit skydiving, 1 went to another DZ. As for the erratic CPing 1 learned from it, others went to other DZs. The groundings for safety violations seemed to learn their lesson. (Note: These incidents were witnessed at several different DZs.) 14. Nice one bro! Hopefully I can meet up with you guys for a Independence Day Boogie! Otherwise I will see you at Start for the Work Stinks Boogie! "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero
  15. StartSkydiving.com Just moved so we are still in the process of building new faculties but as of right now there is camping, showers, free wireless internet, lots of TVs. Plus there is always a good crowd at the bonfire and you can jump all week long in the summer. Start is also very focused on being an instructional DZ so there are always camps going on and organizing for every skill level and every style every weekend. 16. Assumed Risk??? This is a Known risk! So you wouldn't even bother say "hey bro, that thing has sat for ten years is the sun, in a back seat of a car, ...it probably isn't safe? that is taking on too much to offer a friend? Maybe i misunderstood the scenario. I was under the impression the jumper knew the rig had been sitting their for ten years. At that point it is assumed risk...which is the same thing as known risk. All you can do as a friend is make sure someone is aware of what they are getting into. Trust me, watching a friend at an exit point about to do something risky isnt the best feeling in the world, but it is also their choice. When we brake it down we can apply that to anything as risk is all relative. 17. At some point you have to allow people to assume risk on their own and trust they will do the right thing. This applies to sex, skydiving, base jumping, LIFE. 20. I'm assuming that you do that because you can't track very well. A good tracker will end up above and far ahead of the rest, so the bad trackers will be below and behind them. Tracking on your belly would make it easy to see them. Back tracking would only be good to watch for everyone else if you can't track very well. Well you know what they say about assumptions... Do you freefly much? I am going to assume you dont, or if you do you must be pretty shitty at it since back tracking for the first few seconds is a great idea especially if you have a 4way+ and a cameraflyer... 21. Interesting question and puts the person asking it in a unique position. I'm not sure on the law but i believe the CDC strongly encourages if not requires someone with an STD to disclose it to their partners. The prob is the person asking this question ISNT the person with the STD....and disclosing someone else's medical information to a third party without explicit permission IS quite illegal. So, even though this is a morale dilemma...one of the options is illegal and prosecutable. 22. You know what, i changed my mind, i dont want this to catch on and find my airspace crowded. You hear that everyone? The basement is MINE so stay away! 23. I agree, however, as you pointed out...you are trading one risk for another. Personally i trust myself more than others so yes, when i jump with others especially people i am dont normally jump with i keep that in mind. I tend to track on my back longer than anyone else so I can shoot for the most open space and I also tend to open lower than the rest of the group. One thing to keep in mind however is the other jumps on the rest of the load. If you're jumping with a bunch of dirty low pullers then you're just going to be in the same grouping as normal but now you're a bit further in the dive curve. This happened to me last weekend when we did a 22way tracking dive. I was a bit surprised when i pitched a touch below 3000 and 3 people still dumped lower than me. Motorcycle riders might understand this analogy. When i had my bike i liked to go just a little faster than everyone else on the highway. Why? It sounds dumb as speed is a determining factor in crashes. It's a trade off. The reason i like going a little bit faster is because i trust myself more than the other drivers. By going slightly faster i can make sure i am constantly passing people....which means I always know where they are and don't have to worry about people sneaking up behind me or beside me. It's a trade off. "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero
  24. I also have an issue with non-students pulling at 4000 too unless it's specifically for swooping or camera. Just to really torque off the whole thread. But that's only when people don't know how to exit right or when I don't trust those behind the high opener. The non-students that pull at 4k and higher (excluding swoopers and camera) are typically also the same people that dont know how to exit or fly in a pattern. aka They dont know what they dont know. --- This thread was funny, now it's just stupid. Even making a post saying "B13" wouldnt be funny at this point because the whole thing is just sad. How does one go about comparing internet testicles anyway? Also, is there a way to measure and compare how much piss your computer is generating? The last two paragraphs were to no one in particular btw.
