17 year old turns in at Start Skydiving!
jtnesbitt replied to dbcooperfan's topic in Safety and Training
What exactly do you think the DZ is hiding? You've got an ax to grind, everyone knows and yet you refuse to admit it. THAT is the only thing being hidden. The article clearly stated its a numbers game. The DZ does hundreds of thousands of jumps, not just tandems they do a LOT of AFF, and only 3 serious injuries in a year. (2 of which were swoopers.) Why dont you man up and tell us who you are and what your beef is? No one is taking you seriously otherwise. Edit: What i said was mean and uncalled for. You missed some details in PZ's first post then got aggressive with me over it. Let's just kiss and make up. "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero

Hi kettle, nice to meet you. Phreezone already said he has spoken to the neighbor about it. So....what now? You want to give him a chance to correct it. Phreezone said January...that sounds like the guy has had 10 months to fix the problem which is WAY more than reasonable. Ever think about Phreezones rights? He has the right to live in a nice neighborhood and not have the value of his home affected by his neighbors that dont care about theirs. Here are a few ways to resolve it: 1) Most states do not allow cars to be parked on the street without moving for more than a few days, call the cops and they will put a "move in 24 hours or be towed sticker" 2) If its in the driveway check the tags. If they are expired call the cops. I had a neighbor have his car towed from his driveway this way before. Something about the expired tags showed that the owner had to intent of driving/moving it which meant he was violating some other statue. Serious-petition for BASE jumping in national parks

I wasn't aware climbers had a governing body or qualifications. "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero -

There is no regulation. In my opinion any attempt at regulation would prove futile as obeying authority isnt really in the spirit of the sport. "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero -
Serious-petition for BASE jumping in national parks

I signed it as there is no harm (since my name is already on the NPS "The List") but there is no way this petition is going to do anything. To quote my BASE jumper turned NPS friend: "Online signatures are about as useful as a football bat." That's because you are a pussy! Would you do it if there was a lot of snow piled up under you? "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero

Haha only 50 posts and a few months and you have just accurately summed up the majority of posts in the General Skydiving section "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero

Did the guy at 1:15 really cutaway his canopy after it fully inflated and was flying right? Edit to add: In fact it looks like quite a few cut away good canopies, some intentionally. I love it, but if you're going to make fun of someone you might want to make sure you spell "loser" correctly. "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero

I was actually getting ready to post my "go-around" solution when i saw your post. I found that I can use toast to convert the .mts to HDV(.mov ext) just fine, however iMovie wont recognize it for some reason. I've got a few PMs indicating other jumpes are having this issue as well. I do have an old copy of FCP 5.1 and I found that FCP was able to import the HDV that toast exported. So once in FCP, i exported the HDV file to an AIC1080i60 and found that iMovie will in recognize and import this new file. Life would be so much easier if I just taught myself FCP already "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero

OK, I lied, sort of. Toast Titanium converted the files to HDV .mov files beautifully and my mac can play them no prob. Unfortunately iMovie09 refuses to recognize them. They are ghosted out when I go to import. I really dont get this as when I click "get info" on the file it has AIC listed as the codec. Just a heads up if anyone else is having the same problem I tried using Toast Titanium and it converted beautifully. "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero

Have you ever seen the video of the skydiver that got his bridle wrapped around his ring site? Of course you haven't, if you did, you wouldnt have the opinion you do. I suggest you find it and watch, its scary. "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero

My fav trails are the ones that end with exit points Seriously though I have heard top of the world is pretty cool as far as hiking and photo ops go. Our hiking was limited to things we could jump off of. "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero

I've messed with the settings in handbrake and i can clean some of it up but not all. It's coming out looking very grainy, and parts with a lot of action almost looks like it has stripes...like its only converting every other line. I am downloading iskysoft right now. The free trail seemed to work a little better than handbrake, but the quality still wasnt there. I am hoping the full version will give me better quality. I'll report back once i try it out. Thanks! Edit to Add: Just tried full version of iSkySoft, same issue, crap quality. I have no idea what is going on "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero

OK, if this is a repost I apologize. I have searched and searched but cant seem to find the answer I am looking for. I know the common fix to the AVCHD and mac issue can be solved by directly importing from the camera. The problem is i got some footage off a friends card and now I need to somehow convert those files. (They are the raw .mts files.) I tried handbrake, but the quality is absolutely awful. I tried FCP and iMovie09 but cant get it to recognize the files because they are already off the camera. Any third party software out there that maintains the original HD quality with converting to something Mac can edit with?
