Be able to fly the jump plane - you need to keep the dz running when your pilot(s) aren't there. That and be able to do every other job from unclogging the toilet to acting as a jumpmaster. Good luck

glad to know it wasn't just me - i hope that didn't seem like a complaint, i'm dialed in over a free dial-up from a hotel and wasn't sure if the connection was just too slow -mob

What is it? When I click on the pub I don't see anything different than I did a couple of days ago. Am I just confused or is the system malfunctioning? There is some goofy error message on part of the page. -mob

Chicago . . . . and it's not just about freeflying either. I've only jumped a few places but one of the unique things about SDC is the number of jumpers who will do 4-way on jump and sitfly the next one. I just want to find out what the mystery plane will be . . . Honestly I have no way of comparing them. All I know is I already have a trailer at SDC.

You officially have too much time on your hands.

Is it just height and weight you need to know or does bust size play a role too?

Hey all - With a little luck I my spend the next 2 months in D/FW as well and will look you up and say hi on the weekends. -mob

From experience a couple of weeks ago under a fairly docile canopy (Safire @ 1.3:1 loading) Reach Right, Reach Left, Pull Right, Pull Left If you can look first - good, but if you are spinning and the handles are up higher than usual it is tough to see them. -mob

I'm with Zennie - another "anti-merrick" I have 65 jumps. Most from a Otter, one from a skyvan and 9 from a small plane - a King Air. :) I know I'm spoiled. I kinda want to jump a Cessna except around here they tend to only fly in the winter.

Skip I was always more comfortable on my 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th jump of the day during AFP. A lot of my friends felt the same way. However, some people I know (including my girlfriend) choose to limit themselves to 2 jumps per day / 3 or 4 per weekend. Do whatever feels best, -mob

possibly - never been across the Pacific and a boogie would be a good excuse

work less, read more 5 times a day is not enough! just kidding

http://www.jump4kids.org has the details on how it was done

Why be nice to the ALFs? They seem to pester everyone.

Regardless of how strong the gear is supposed to be why not flip belly to earth and slow down like everyone else?
-
A lot of people dabble in both where I jump - a good example is the new Millenium Dive USPA award - it requires 3 jumpers to complete 3 head down, 3 sit, and 3 belly formations in one jump. -mob

My thoughts to all - lighten up. I saw the ad it neither made me want to buy the product (what was the company again?) or made want to write letters about how offended I was. If I wanted a hobby that was politically correct I'd find something else. -mob ps - I think I may have to write a letter to somebody about how offended I was when I walked in to the men's showers at the dz and there was a woman in there.

I don't see what the kid did wrong? Unless the shot put when through the window on purpose. Quite observant if you ask me. Then again my lack of conformity might have been what led me to a "non-traditional educational path". -mob

Zennie - No problems. Not sure how hard it really was - adrenaline makes anything seem easy. -mob

I waited about 45 minutes and rented a rig and jumped again on Saturday. No way did I want to wait a week to get back in the air. It was strange - normally I'm not eager to get to 3,000 feet (where I normally pull). On that jump I couldn't wait to deploy. Very plain jump - 4 way RW (or attempt at) breaking off at 5,000 for plenty of time. I'm very glad I did it would advise anyone to do the same after their first cutaway. -mob

http://precision.aerodynamics.com/psycho/psycho_pack.htm I've tried it but still PRO pack for now at least. It is easier to get the #@$%**! thing in the bag psycho packing. One rigger warned me the top skin of your canopy is more likely to be damaged if you psycho pack. -mob

that's what happened. I was spinning fast enough that I was not hanging vertical in my harness. Kind of made me glad I don't have an RSL - I cutaway from the mess and wouldn't stay I got stable but I got less unstable before pulling the reserve. phew.
-
Slut - (that just sounds wrong) It was really nasty line twists. I was spinning on my back before I knew it and both the brakes had come unstowed. I can hire packers and probably will for a couple of weeks but need to be confident that I can pack or I shouldn't be jumping. I think what happened is that more of the canopy was in one-half of the d-bag and when I closed the container I did too much smashing / pushing / adjusting and the stowed lines were twisted/crossed/around the bag instead of below it / ? ? ? -mob

Even though my reserve is smaller or so I think (PD-176 vs. Icarus-189) it felt much more docile than my main. I flared a little high but I think I was just anxious to get down.
