Assuming the runway is paved i find that it helps to look for that first. If there are multiple runways / buildings around hopefully the dz has an aerial photo. -mob

Are you referring to a max pull altitude for a particular dive or for all jumpers at all times? I know many jumpers who prefer to pull around 3000 due to long snivels and such. Curious, -mob

After it's been three weeks since I've jumped. Bad weather combined with my girlfriend breaking her arm (I really should post pictures of what happens if you flare too high) have kept me away. It's almost 5:00 on Friday and I'm anxious! Everyone have a great weekend!

Anything loud, fast, written since 1930, or that uses horns should be banned. Is that the kind of outrageous statement you wanted?

If only this was amazon and I could rate posters . . . .

Barbara, Many of the larger dropzones advertise freefly schools. Freefly Chicago (Skydive Chicago) has about one weekend a month where the instructors put on a freefly camp that is a good deal. For a registration fee (maybe it was $20 a day or $30 a weekend) you get coached jumps with Mike Ortiz and whoever else is working that weekend. Matt

i thought the coverage was above average - but then again nobody was hurt. my theory is a fatality always makes the reporters twice as likely to exagerrate / misspeak / etc. -mob

I'm sure you'll get plenty of feedback from people who know better but a friend of mine recently moved to LA just off student status and started jumping at Perris. He loves it. He came from a big DZ so that may be why he feels at home there but I haven't heard anything negative about it being too big to feel like family from him. -mob

Thought I would share a note Reno sent me clarifying his position - 1) He is a vendor. and 2) Despite a similar appearance it is not a Wings knockoff. It is a cross between a Javelin and Vector. -mob

Is AFP there 8 jumps total? Just curious - I did an AFP with 2 tandems, class, and then 17 jumps. Sounds like a lot and it was but it also covered freeflying and more advanced techniques. -mob

where are they offering AFP around Philly?
-
Just what I needed to go with my coffee this morning. Thanks
-
appreciated! - my addition Should I go out to lunch? It's too foggy to tell if it's raining or not. At least I'm not thinking "I could be jumping"

in response to "why are they giving this refund?" because taxes are too high already! Bush like him or not made good on his promise to lower taxes and wasted no time doing it. end political rant -mob

oops - user error. bit confusing though - if you have private messages (different than web mail) - it shows up on the forums home page and you have to click "check private" to view them thanks / sorry for the confusion

please - don't bring back such thoughts

if you are going to post advertisements (without paying Sangiro to do so) at least disclose your relationship with the vendor also - you aren't buying wings and sewing a new label on are you? -
Sangiro, I logged off and logged back on. Same problem. The only time I see the message is on the top-level forums page (http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forums/forum.pl?Cat=) Not a big problem but could be a symptom of something else. -mob

If you buy an entire rig many gear stores will match the lowest price on a Cypres. Usually just under $1000.
-
I found some cgi-scripts I wrote circa 1996 the other day - amazing that was only 5 years ago. I know what you feel like. -mob

Sangiro - I am alerted that I have one new message but when I go to my mailbox one of two things happen - either there is no message or i get the following Oops, there was a problem! Invalid/Expired session. Please contact support and reference ID: 3168. Click Here to go back to your Inbox This has been going on for a couple of days. No biggie - just trying to help. Matt

I can't afford a second expensive hobby! Especially one that keeps me grounded for a day after doing it. -mob

No complaints about the regular pilot(s) at Skydive Chicago. If you get the DZO flying you better check the spot for yourself. Never trust somebody who flies a 2:1 canopy to spot - he can get back from just about anyplace while us mortals land off!

No rules here in the US. Depending on where you learn you might get freefly exposure as a student. As part of AFP I had 4 or 5 jumps that were either all or part sit-flying during my student program. -mob
