  1. I found the following on their web site: http://www.skydivechicago.com/DZ/location.htm - the page has a link to an external site with airport directions. I'm not a pilot so I can't tell if this is good or bad info. but it seems like a lot of information. I also looked at several other web site for dzs and found that all but one had no info. (1 out of 6 in my highly informal survey) -mob

    SummerFest

ramon - Sorry to hear about your main but glad you had a good time. I'm hearing a lot about lost mains lately. Is this a common thing in late summer / fall when the crops are tall? I guess I never thought about it before (first summer jumping my own gear) and now I'm a bit more nervous about having a mal since it could get very costly. -mob

    Landings suck!

I don't know - my landings got better when I learned to flare at the right height instead of too high. Perhaps the proper smart ass reponse is "flair at the right time". -mob

    SummerFest

Had a great time. It was a bit hot the first weekend but cooled off towards the end. Lots of firsts - including helicopter and DC-3 jumps. Would of like to see a bigger variety of aircraft vs. just Otters but I can't complain since I never waited more than 25 minutes to get on board. -mob
  5. Get an altimaster. They give great service - they travel to dzs / boogies and recalibrate for free and replace the lens and velcro strap. Very friendly people. -mob
  6. Nice job! It looks so easy / fun that I want to go buy a camera. Maybe next summer . . . . -mob
  7. ouch - bummer that you are hurt but it sounds like you have a great sweetie taking care of you. get well soon
  8. I'm very happy with it. I can't claim to be an expert on rigs and the Odyessy wasn't out yet when I bought it. But I like the design (nothing flapping around in freefall) and I like the upward closing main flap. It's comfortable (get the articulated harness) but I am comparing it to rental gear so it's tough. -mob or mcb according to the stiching on my container
  9. I've had only good experiences with Sunrise Rigging as well. The stiching on my mudflap (initials) is coming out. They said over the winter to have it repaired at no cost and that they would handle shipping both ways. Matt
  10. Pyke - I'm no expert but what I would say is do what feels right for you. Everyone will have different opinions depending on where they jump / if they started on rounds or ZP canopies. Find the canopy / size you enjoy most and you feel safe on. My 2 cents, mob
  11. Saturday afternoon was my 100th jump. (yes, beer was purchased) I mostly sit-fly with a few RW jumps every once in a while. A friend suggested we do a RW jump so we would stay close and get good video. Our 4-way soon grew to 7 and for a change we got to jump out of the plane first. After a few jokes from the rest of the plane (freefliers) about belly flying and it was time to exit. If it hadn't funnelled I would have been amazed, but it did. I was in the base with 2 other jumpers, one on her 27th jump. When it funneled she decided to go into a sit since she was 100 lbs lighter than some of the guys and didn't want to float. That was the end of the planned jump. I was trying to fly back to the 3rd jumper in the base when I noticed the rest of the jumpers had given up on belly flying and were in a sit, stand, or head-down diving for the lowest person. It was a good jump, the video didn't turn out too well but that is unimportant. Some of us got close to each other and we all had fun. -mob
  12. Is anyone else having problems with logging in/out everytime you go between the forums and the rest of the site? Also - where on your profile do you add your photo? I've uploaded my picture to the server but am unsure where in my profile I put the URL. Thanks, mob
  13. thanks for the tip - i was suffering from withdrawal too
  14. The site rocks! If anyone is having the problem I did of not being able to post / reply you have to relogin. Took me an hour to figure it out I'm embarassed to say. Love seeing pictures of people next to their posts - it's a feature you can turn on in your control panel. I'll spare everyone from having to look at my mug though. -mob
  15. 1 hour left of work 1 drink for charity event to attend 1 90 minute drive it's getting close . . .
  16. Hopefully you are sitting in air conditioning.
  17. That's what I did. Although I'm tempted to try and dye the stubble (1/8 - 1/4 inch) purple for summerfest this weekend and then shave it again before work next week. -mob

    Yawn.....

Well I haven't been hit with that yet but I must be bored based on the number of posts I've made today. . . . You're on a dropzone and getting paid for it - out sympathy is limited. ;)
  19. So what is the decision . . . ? ? ?
  20. I wouldn't roll the nose - I only have put < 10 jumps on a Triathalon but remember thinking the snivel was long even without the nose rolled. my 2 cents -mob
  21. Sue the farm whose field you landed in. Surely if he watered it enough it would have been softer and you wouldn't be so hurt. Make sure your lawyer can make outrageous statements that rhyme, you will get a larger settlement.
  22. I feel rude - I logged in to happy hour last night and then got booted off my connection by my isp and never dialed back in. I wasn't ignoring everyone, just multi-tasking and not talking. I'll try to be more friendly next time.
  23. Work is getting much more difficult to focus on as the weekend gets closer. At least we're getting the rain out of the way this week instead of next - it is flooded in Chicago right now. Can't wait to meet people - look for yellow and purple rig w/ a yellow and black jumpsuit. Often with a cute redhead with a splint on her arm. Somewhat pointless post - I'll try to get back to work now.
