  1. I sincerely wish that everyone against stem cell research has a child who has alzhimers, parkinsons, or becomes paralized from the neck down. I bet we would see a huge change in public sentiment about stem cell research and force politicians to get the fuck out of the way of science and go back to ruining the country through uncontrolled spending.
  2. Are you saying he has even one shred of credibility? He is an entertainer. Nothing more. Unfortunately, he is a bigot, a junkie and a fraud who has made millions by passing himself off as credible to people who don't want to recognize he is an utter shill. Most of the time, he is pretty funny. Occasionally, he crosses the line (IMO). I wish people would turn the dial when he does, but they don't.
  3. It is not possible to be defeated in Iraq, just as it is equally not possible to be victorious. Such is your lot when engaging in a war with an intangible object.
  4. I think this is one of those issues where people show their true stripes. Regardless of infantile party labeling, I don't see how you could be opposed to this: In reality, MCRI would amend the state’s constitution to prohibit “state entities from discriminating or granting preferential treatment based on race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin.”
  5. Was this person listed as a personal reference or was this person called in order to verify past employment? The distinction is key.
  6. Am I the only one who thinks his voice is as annoying as fingernails on a chalkboard?
  7. And I'll agree that this guy probably enjoyed the sixties a little more than most.
  8. 45A - Are you in the vicinity of eagle cliff?
  9. While this is the truth, don't you think there should be some kind of a limit to allowing the president to continue to make these kinds of decisions? Certainly, no president can be infallible. They simply have too much on their plate to be correct 100% of the time. Personally, I don't think GWB should be impeached, but there should be some sort of a reckoning.
  10. Only a "moron" would buy YouTube: Mark Cuban By Paul Thomasch Fri Sep 29, 7:54 AM ET NEW YORK (Reuters) - Billionaire investor and dot-com veteran Mark Cuban had harsh words on Thursday for YouTube, the online site that lets people share video clips, saying only a "moron" would purchase the wildly popular start-up. ADVERTISEMENT Cuban, co-founder of HDNet and owner of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks, also said YouTube would eventually be "sued into oblivion" because of copyright violations. "They are just breaking the law," Cuban told a group of advertisers in New York. "The only reason it hasn't been sued yet is because there is nobody with big money to sue." YouTube, based in San Mateo, California, specializes in serving up short videos created by everyday people. Its popularity, with more than 100 million video showings daily, has spurred speculation the firm will be sold or taken public. But YouTube has also come under scrutiny because users often post copyrighted material, including music videos produced by well-established artists. YouTube company representatives were not immediately available to respond to Cuban's comments. Cuban said "anyone who buys that (YouTube) is a moron" because of potential lawsuits from copyright violations. "GOING TO BE TOASTED" "There is a reason they haven't yet gone public, they haven't sold. It's because they are going to be toasted," said Cuban, who has sold start-ups to Yahoo Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO - news) and CompuServe. YouTube, which has nearly one-third of the U.S. Web video audience, three times that of Google Inc., or twice that of News Corp's MySpace, has been working on signing licensing deals with music companies and TV networks to ensure they are paid when users view their content. This month YouTube unveiled its first deal to distribute music videos legally from a major music company by agreeing a deal with Warner Music Group, home to pop stars James Blunt and Madonna. In other remarks, meanwhile, the often-controversial Cuban also told advertisers that the reach of YouTube is limited, particularly when it comes to user-generated videos. "User-generated content is not going away," he said. "But do you want your advertising dollars spent on a video of Aunt Jenny watching her niece tap dance?" "Somebody puts up something really good and you get, what, 60,000 viewers?" Cuban added during the event at Advertising Week in New York. YouTube now offers advertising through banner ads, promotions and sponsorships. It has said it plans to roll out a range of different advertising options over the coming year. Cuban cautioned advertisers against investing heavily in so-called viral campaigns that are spread by users beyond their initial point of distribution on YouTube or other video sharing sites. But he touted opportunities to run commercials on high-definition television such as his HDNet network. "What makes viral so special is it's so hard to do. It's so hard to plan. It's hard to stand out," he said, describing 99 percent of money advertisers spend on viral campaigns as "wasted." "You guys love to be the trailing edge," he said.
  11. If you can afford a solid place in Evergreen, you may be as close to heaven on earth as it gets. YMMV.
  12. I don't think I've ever seen a better opportunity for someone to talk about family, business, dedication and personal exploration in one shot. Good luck and post up how it goes.
  13. Yep, just a prank gone wrong. Reminds me of the Dateline "To catch a predator" series. Every one of those guys say they weren't really going to do anything.
  14. If only I could be King for a day: 1.) Immediately reduce our forces in Iraq to holding one small safe area (along the lines of Bill's idea, but smaller). We will keep the safe area for six months, then we will be completely gone. 2.) Tell our troops to rest up, because they are going to Afghanistan/Pakistan to get OBL or his corpse. 3.) The administration must be held accountable. Rumsfeld is fired. Rice is fired. Gonzales is fired. Cheney and staff steps down. No one is infallible, but you don't get to call a "do-over" or an "oops, my bad" on a decision that directly caused the deaths of thousands of Americans, tens of thousands of Iraqis, billions of dollars lost and turning your back on the catching the the true bad guy. There is policy and politics and very few people are completely on one side of the fence, but where ever your political affiliations may lie, this big of a fuck up can not be overlooked or swept under the rug with a "but he was a bad guy". 4.) Every person in every military prison is going on trial - today. If we don't have enough evidence to hold you, we'll throw you out a plane over whatever country you came from. If we try you and you're not guilty, you're out the plane. If your're guilty, you get a phone call and a bullet. 5.) Rested troops storm through Afghanistan/Pakistan and get OBL and anyone supporting him. 6.) Everyone goes home and we begin the work of diplomatically repairing all the damage we've already done.
  15. The partners at my firm are the best. They're like family. They sent me to a charity golf tournament yesterday and told me to make sure we got our sponsorship fees back in free beer. I did my best. When I crawled in this morning, they mixed me up a bloody mary and told me not to work on anything very challenging. Love my job.
  16. If your garage gets broken into, or if you're like me and just forget to close the door, stealing your identity would be very easy. Just something to think about.
  17. Yep, he tested positive for some steroid. Suspension hasn't been announced yet, but it is practically a guarantee. He has a short period of time to make an official response to the positive test, which I'm sure will be ignored and then they will decide how long his suspension will be. My guess is that it will not be light, because they are grasping for credibility (and getting it).
  18. I have a refurbished 60G. Bought it for $200 (not through apple). No problems at all. A friend bought one also around a year ago and also no problems.
  19. First: THANK YOU Second: Don't let the person you shoot in the foot be you.
  20. Reality check - You don't really think Disney's lawyers would bill them $200/hr. to investigate a guy that skydives on weekends, is not advertised anywhere, and makes less in a weekend than what those guys will spend on lunch? I feel pretty safe in saying its not going to happen. Dave - re: having your name in the name of the company; Ford Motor Co. is going to be pissed when they hear the news that they have to change their name. Mr. Todak's Wild Ride sounds pretty cool to me.
  21. 5 bucks on the stuttering ranger to beat the air force guy with moobs.
  22. I know more than a few members of the military and alphabet organizations who think his betrayal should be addressed by firing squad on pay-per-view.
