I started jumping with an open face and when I went to a Z1 I still sometimes would stick my tongue out and shake my head on exit. After the jump the other guys would ask why I shook my head. They thought there was a problem. Still haven't gotten totally out of the habit yet. Maybe they should make a full face out of clear lexan so you can see your tongue when it sticks out. My last jump was the beginning of November. A little over 200 jumps have been in the last 9 months. Hence the recurrency jumps. Plus I am an RW guy up to this point so I want to get in my groove again with that before trying to take a first flight. I have been really looking forward to having an opportunity to work with an instructor and see if WS is where I want to be and if I am ready to learn to be a birdman. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

I have searched and haven't found any info. Possibly because some would view it as a dumb question. I am from the midwest and am going to AZ in Feb for some jumping. I would like to get a first flight after some recurrency jumps there and was wondering which instructors are roaming around Eloy. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

packing help please beginner got lucky(i think)

As far as tandems are concerned I believe that at most larger dropzones they like for the tandem packers to be riggers. If not they probably would want you to get sufficient at packing student and experienced jumpers rigs, and then learn how to pack tandems with good supervision. As far as the time is considered how fast you go is a matter of how much money you want to make and how long you want to be a packer. When I started packing I was not very fast, but over time I developed faster techniques and SAFE shortcuts. Also if you are packing experienced jumpers rigs it is good to figure out tips and tricks for different canopies. If you don't feel you are getting paid for a nice opening then just throw it in the bag. I would pack a sabre1 differently than say a pilot or a velocity. After a while you will be going fast and hopefully your openings encourage returning business. Good luck! Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -
I was under the impression that there was a difference between the J-1 and J-1K also there is a J-1KL now. Just throwing out meaningless banter. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Very nice rig! I am still at the stage of getting excited after purchasing a used rig. Which I just did... Anywho, I would think that the many beer lovers here would have brought up New Belgium beers such as Fat Tire, or 1554. Or maybe the lovely taste of a Leinies, after a day of jumping. Maybe it is just a midwest thing. -

Cold Air Intake or Replace Stock Intake Hose

Don't you know those won't work if it isn't cold outside? Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -
The difference between understanding risk and taking it is very interesting. Isn't it "understood" that as a skydiver we could die taking part in the sport? What if in a sport that could kill you in a multitude of ways you had a choice? I thought about the fact that we as skydivers must admit that even if we do everything right we could still die. This means that there are things that are out of control that could kill us. What if the decision to downsize rapidly is a person's sub-conscious way of exhibiting a certain amount of control? They know that they could still die, but the way in which they would die would be their fault. They were in control. A person who believes they are truly capable of flying that smaller canopy can not be convinced otherwise until the image of control is removed. When they experience a moment when that canopy is no longer under their control, only then will they re-evaluate why they picked that canopy. Many times that moment is followed by injury or death. That is why the "I am an natural" statement is the first thing to come to mind when their decision is challenged. Is isn't about being a better pilot or displaying skills that make them believe they are capable, it is that their control has not been challenged. Just my uneducated opinion running rampant in the fields of theory and imagination, forgive if you yawned while reading. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Yeah have you seen some of the guys that maintain jump planes? They look pretty sketchy... Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -

I know of a jumper that bought a rig and didn't realize that it had a collapsible PC. After a few jumps the jumper complained of slow openings and was informed of the PC. So it does happen and the packing method mentioned is a very good way to avoid it. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

This sport is naturally defensive. Letting someone do what they want in this sport as long as it doesn't endanger other people can't work in this sport. Exit separation is one. How do you know the guy behind you will give you enough time after exit? You could be deploying and look over and see this guy open up right next to you. Your only option is to be a defensive skydiver. Free-flying. You are on a jump with a few other guys and one goes out of your field of vision. How do you know he is not on a collision course with the back of your head? It isn't enough to make sure you are doing everything you can to survive, but also knowing until you are back in the packing tent you have to be on the defensive. Some say let him be. Let him make his own decisions and envitably his own mistakes. He might decide to say screw you all and jump the canopy he wants, but then it is your responsibility to defend yourself from possible injury or death caused by his actions. Don't jump with him, hang up there and let him land first, land far away from him, talk to the DZO about the safety risk he poses to others and ask for him to be grounded. Making sure the jumper is getting "proper" advice is the front line of being defensive, but advice is exactly that, advice. It isn't orders. Be a defensive skydiver. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Kid solves one of lifes great Problems..

I wasn't arguing over why the seat is there, and I don't see how you drew that from my reply, but anyway I just don't see why women find it so much of a inconvenience to put the seat down? When guys use the bathroom they lift the seat so it seems, as is, the workload is even. Women put the seat down, men lift it up. Oh and in regards to the urine on the rim, ever consider the possibility of splashback? Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -

They don't want to have to touch the seat. If it really bugs a woman just install a urinal in the bathroom? Problem solved. Why don't women put the seat up when they are done? Chances are the guy will probably need the seat up the next time he uses it. I understand the whole courtesy thing, but a mother continually lecturing her kid seems a BIT too much. I don't know about you, but I want to try out a 58 Xaos! It has the lift to set me down nice so what is the big deal! Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Haha did that a few times... I had my backpack on and I rubbed it up against the door and my right hand immediately went back to check the hackey. I just started laughing when I realized what I did. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
