How much of an effect on the suit does a couple broken mylar ribs have? One in the leg and one in the arm are cracked. I am buying the suit used so I want to make sure I am not getting a lemon. Thanks for any info. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

You know where a lot of that high risk debt came from that AIG was having to deal with? Foreign countries. So foreign countries should be thanking us, the american taxpayers for taking their mistakes off their hands. On the bright side this might have earned the U.S. some IOU's overseas. Or not. How much does your DZ charge for Hop and Pops?

$14 to ~5k $22 to 13.5K Skydive Twin Cities Baldwin, WI Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -
This might have been said before, but the idea of a gun ban seems counterintuitive. If they are criminals doing the shooting do you think they care at all whether owning a gun is legal? A gun ban is for keeping guns out of law abiding citizens hands. I doubt a criminal would go down to the local pawn shop to get a gun, unless he was breaking in and stealing one. Maybe the government will move the AIG headquarters to Iraq. Great real estate options. The decision to stabilize a failing private company is only temporary, right? I wonder what sub-prime interest rate you could get for a few acres near Baghdad? Also, I wonder if the AIG execs feel this is their version of welfare. Those crazy republicans always gotta do things bigger. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

I have been unable to locate any manuals for Bird-Man suits. Do they exist? If they do where could I find them? I like reading about the equipment I use, container, flight characteristics of my canopy, aad, etc. Thanks for any info! Malcolm Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

It is really fun when you set up cars facing each other. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Oh come on! It is well within reason to get 200 jumps in a season! Then you are good to go and trust me it is totally worth the wait. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Strobe for under canopy, cars with headlights on in the landing area, a neptune with the backlight turned on. Oh yeah and that bright white spot in the sky that apparently is made of cheese. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Good Work! Maybe I will have to venture across the pond for some of that flocking. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

I already called them and Tony and Jeff were on the road. What are the details of the buyback? Is the suit really made to order? Can you do custom colors? If they are stock items what is the wait time for getting one? I did a search, but didnt really come up with anything. Thanks for any info. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

I decided to make one out of aluminum. I riveted webbing to the aluminum. Then I sewed velcro on to the webbing which wraps around the mudflap. I made it for a Neptune so it is slightly more low profile. I put the Armor II on it so packing isn't too much of an issue if it is left on. I have been very happy with it. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

This is one situation where size matters. If a 15mph sock has a hard-on, no biggie (pun intended). 35mph sock has a hard-on, time to have some beer. On a more serious note early spring is an interesting time in the midwest. Winds like to shift around and with fields getting planted thermals become an issue. So I am more conservative during that time. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

High WLs, Low Experience.. Where Are the S&TAs?

Are you suggesting going the way of GA? Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -
It does depend a little on the vehicle. Are your tires rated for higher speeds? Many tires that come on more common cars are only rated for 98mph. Now for short periods of time this isn't a problem. Also is the engine warm? Running at high RPM's when the engine is cold (meaning under operating temp, avg 195F) is very hard on the internal components because the parts have not had a chance to expand properly. In many cases if you have had your car running for a while and the engine is warm running it harder helps burn off carbon deposits that form inside the engine. Manufacturers will program the computer to run slightly rich to help slow down wear in start and stop driving or if you shut it off and start it back up a lot. This can lead to the formation of carbon deposits. Oh and don't overdrive the road conditions because that can turn out VERY hard on your car. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

High WLs, Low Experience.. Where Are the S&TAs?
mnskydiver688 replied to MagicGuy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Would it be more accurate to say they don't understand what CAUSES that risk, than the risk itself. You could die is very black and white. It is then up to the instructors to show where that risk is distributed. Showing students where the risk occurs during freefall, during deployment, and during landing. The actions that could kill you under a 80 Velo are largely the same that could kill you under a 260 Navigator. It is the margin of error that is vastly different. I know this is redundant. There is no way to quantify a persons ability to adjust to new margins of error. Humans cannot fall into distinct categories. Why do you think colleges don't go about teaching in that way. They give you the tools and the problem solving skills to then base decisions off of. Say you put jump requirements on certain canopies. A person then takes a canopy course to fulfill another requirement, but they take it with a 190 loaded at .9. Then they jump there asses off to get to the required numbers to jump an elliptical loaded at 1.4. Are they ready at jump number 501 to fly that canopy? I hear time and time again how little canopy skills are developed at larger DZ's. Some don't even know how to pack after 25 jumps. Shouldn't reforming the requirements put on necessary canopy skills before you get that first license seem like a better approach? Make the student do a few cross wind landings, maybe a few downwind landings on light wind days? Show them how different a canopy reacts in those situations under the direction of instructors. Make it a part of the very early training process. Maybe I am way off base here. I mean I have shit for jumps. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -

Canopy color affecting longevity?

I was responding to the comment made by the OP regarding a bad opening when he hired a packer. It came across that the canopy was completely to blame for the opening when I believe it was mainly the way it was packed. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

PD has a section on their website that covers flight characteristics of those three canopies. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

-34F Wednesday morning without windchill. Factor in the wind and you get -55F. That photo is putting it mildly. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -
The impression I got was you were blaming the canopy for a neck breaker opening when it was most likely a packing error. Bad packing can make any canopy open like crap. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Was that a canopy issue or a packing issue? Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
