  1. I bought a brand new rig straight from student status (new container, new main, older reserve but never used or packed, and cypres1 that had 4 years left on it) I put 120 jumps on that rig, then sold that entire rig with a fresh reserve repack in a ready to jump status. all the guy had to do was turn on the cypres. I got back exactly what I paid for it...minus the I&R's the rig still looked brand new. then I bought another brand new rig. new V3. new main, new reserve, new cypres2. have about 100 jumps on it and it still looks brand new. could probably sell it for just about what I have in it...but don't plan to. it has a 168pilot that I have loaded at 1.25 this rig is plenty fun to fly. I don't yet see any reason to downsize any further. if I downsize for whatever reason in the future, I will just buy another brand new rig and just keep my current rig as a secondary. I have always had, jumped, learned to pack on new canopies. so I have no fear of slick nylon if it goes in the rig then I will pack it in there. to me there is no comparison to jumping brand new custom gear. used gear works sure. do you really need to downsize until youre flying a sub 100.. I don't need to, you may though?? anyway thats how I roll.. so hope that helps bud be safe out there don't do too much new stuff at once, and check your gear often. if you want a friend feed any animal Perry Farrell
  2. right on I'm with you, I like my scope to stay put and hold zero. couple of guys I talked to reccomended the claw mount from Bsquare that clamps on to the receiver. they said it is plenty sturdy, allows use of the iron sights, can be removed and replaced all day long and will still hold zero. only drawback they mentioned was it might dimple a few spots in the finish on the receiver where it attaches. also my pops said that the PTR's are better quality than most of the original HK's. the co. JLD that makes the PTR's bought the tooling and parts from a European country that made the original HK's for the Portuguese military under license from H&K. he said JLD manufactures here in the US with better quality control. the welds look better. some original parts are used in the construction of the PTR's but most parts including the receivers and a heavier barrel are manufactured new using the same tooling that built the originals. PTR's had a problem in there first production run with the trunions/buffer but it was only around 100 rifles and has long since been worked out. last thing he said is the HK's are worth more only as a collectors item because they are no longer made/imported. but the PTR's are every bit as accurate if not more due to the heavier barrels and the better construction. oh he also said the triggers suck on all of them even the originals but he's got a guy that can correct the triggers, for $50 he will have them smoothed out and under 3 lbs. if you want a friend feed any animal Perry Farrell

  5. figured to cont. this discussion here, let the folks have their fun with the cack in the mirror picture. I will be purchasing an HK 91 or one of the PTR clones. genie you wrote that you don't like the rail options on the PTR?? the KFM4's that I'm looking at have (3) 6.5" accessory rails mounted on the hand guard but do not list an option for a scope mount. on yours is there any way to add a scope mount on the top other than welding one on??? or are you saying that the scope mount options available suck... if you want a friend feed any animal Perry Farrell

  14. I psycho pack often. I usually just tuck 4 cells from each side (unrolled) in towards the center cell, leaving the center cell exposed. I tuck the nose just for symmetry I never roll the nose cells. certainly have never pulled or rolled them away from the center. I have never seen it done that way before. i would just leave them hang there and do nothing then pull them to the outside of the pack job. after psycho packing don't forget to take out the 180degree twist after bagging it, preferably in the correct direction or you will end up with line twist. I get softer/longer openings from psycho packing my canopy. if you want a friend feed any animal Perry Farrell
