  1. Damn. Last time we discussed this I told you to contact the police. Glad you did, too bad they won't help you. I'd suggest next you contact a lawyer. Not because you want the lawyer to do anything, but because you want the lawyer to explain what the law says. The lawyer could tell you if what this guy is doing is even illegal. I don't know what realtor you work for, but if it's a bigger one, they may have a legal support plan you could buy into. I had this at my larger employers, it was basically the law equivalent of health insurance. If you can't afford a lawyer, I would imagine you could discuss it with a womens support organization. It might not be exactly what you're looking for, but they should be able to point you in the right direction. I do know that you need to do SOMETHING. This story just sends shivers up my spine. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

  4. Go to Canada. There they can. All hail Gwen Jacobs, the college co-ed who took it to the supreme court. And yes, it does seem like one of the worlds more hypocritical laws. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  5. You con't trust the colors on these space pictures. They're not taken with traditional cameras. They're "taken" with assorted kinds of radar imaging, the satalites simply collect computer data. Later supercomputers create an image that looks sorta like the planet, but colors are up to the interpretation of the programmers. As an example, I'm pretty sure Alaska would be snow covered. Or a better example, I'm pretty sure the northern part of Hudsons Bay - that big ass piece of water in the middle of Canada, isn't fluroescent green. Still very cool. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  6. Back when I didn't know much about hang-gliding or skydiving, my perception was that skydiving was MUCH more dangerous. I suspect my friends and family will react with indiference. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

  10. No. The USPA did not support DeSantis being involved. John DeSantis was hired as an "expert witness", and was paid quite a bit for his testimony. And people have the audacity to say he shouldn't be on the board. As if! _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  11. Bill2 - the spot we've found tow's two three grand, then lets you glide down tandem style. This is out of nececity. Illinois is rather flat. Cost is $150. They tell us it lasts about 20 minutes. They also say we can use their gear as long as we want, if we choose to go through with the training. Like skydiving, once you get certified it gets quite cheap. In bulk, lifts cost $15. http://www.hangglidechicago.com/ ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

  14. That's fair. In my mind, that was the x-braced pile. In my mind the difference between a seven and nine x-brace is pretty insignificant, as I can't even see myself jumping one for years. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

  17. Safire, Sabre2, and Hornet are bascially sorta the same. Triathlon, Spectre, Icarus Omega are sorta the same. Stiletto, Crossfire, Heatwave, Cobalt are sorta the same. Chaos and Extreme VX and FX are sorta the same. PD Vengence and Big Airs Samurai are sorta the same, but it's starting to get real fuzzy. 21. "Banning" (more realistically, grounding) a skydiver is what's called a LART. LART is an accronym for Loser Attitude Readjustment Tool. LART's are very important. Losers with Attidudes kill themselves in this sport, and sometimes kill innocent people. I've seen the LART in affect twice. Once was when a loser smoked a joint right before jumping. The second time was the same loser decided that he'd had enough of the crappy DZ ripcord gear and jumped his GF's pull-out without any kind of transition instruction. Don't give up the sport. But do listen to the people that're chewing you out. Take the attitude readjustment. Turn into a safety feak. Be anal. I know that the LART is appropriate because you're complaining about being pushed out of the sport. You're not being pushed out of the sport, you got grounded. You also blew off going low - yeah, we've all gone low to some degree. Most of us haven't gone low to the point of being grounded, though. Swallow your pride, take the two weeks, then go back and don't do anything stupid. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  22. A hook turn is a very agressive approach, done only by canopy experts. It is not for you. There is a difference between "being prepared for a PLF" and "being in the position waiting to execute a PLF". As you progress with your landings you'll find you don't literally need to be landing with your feet and knees togeather when you're under a ram air canopy. You'll find it's a whole lot easier to slow down the flare, wait for the canopy to plane out, and run off the landing if you need to. That's the abstract. Now go talk to your instructors for implementation instructions. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  23. It's a 31 hour drive from chicago. 1864.34 miles. My car gets 22 MPG, so 84 gallons of gas. $1.60 for the high octane, makes $135 each way, never mind the four days of driving. I think I'll fly, thanks. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
