Exactly. And no I don't know if anybody used the pond without paying. Bad karma is a bad thing in skydiving... _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

The $59 fee didn't cover the swoop pond. They asked that you pay extra, $25 I think to cover the cost of setting up and maintaining the blades and pond. Still a great deal. More then worth it, and I'll be back. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

People are going to tell you to relax. This means a few things. First of all, chill out! This sport is fun. Even if you're spinning like a top, it's still fun! You just jumped out of a friggin airplane! SMILE, GODDAMIT! Second, let your whole body relax. Think of standing in a boxman. Think of a friend pushing against your hand. Do you fall over? Or is your arm muscles loose enough that your muscles contract and your arm moves but your body doesn't? Thirdly, the next time you're jumping and you start to spin, remember this sport is fun. Smile. Take a deep breath. Tap your toes, feel the air on your hands. Tap your knees. Feel the air on your feet. Allow your body to relax, let your mind relax as well as your muscles relax. You'll get it... One thing to remember is that no matter what happens on the skydive, as long as you land safely - it's a good jump. If ANYBODY at your dropzone is even remotely suggesting you give up skydiving, you need to find another dropzone. It's clear they're not good enough teachers, and you need to find a dropzone with good ones. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

Thanks bill, this is more along the lines of what I was suggesting. I don't have nearly any of your guys knowledge in this though. It seems to me that by changing the shape and material of the slider, you should be able to get it to come down rather quickly when you're below 135mph, and to hang up for just a bit when going faster - it would hang up until you slow down. It seems to me it's just a matter of finding the right size and shape of the slider, isn't it? I'm failing to understand why subterminal openings would fail the three second rule. Without the high airspeed, what's keeping the slider up? _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

From what I understand Airlocks will recover from the turbulance that much quicker because it's going to keep its' shape. You're still going to smack in if you catch a downdraft, but if the downdraft doesn't smack you in, you'll be in a better position to recover with an airlocked canopy - because it's still in the correct shape. It didn't collapse, it just rode the wind in it's inflated shape. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

I so respect you for framing this by talking about what you feel, and what you believe in. This debate really is about emotion, and it's about beliefs. People tend to be pretty set in their beliefs, too. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

Is there not something you could do with the slider? Somehow get the slider to stay up until a certain airspeed? _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

I hate my Z-1, but have never had this problem. Stupid question, but you are doing up the chin strap, right? (yeah, I know - stupid question...) If mine had come off three times already I would've ditched it then... not wait until I lost the protrack. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

One of my friends showed up at WFFC last year with gear that was TSO'd in the US. He was out of date by US standards but in date by Canadian standards. He pulled out his CSPA card and was allowed in. I don't know if this was correct, but it worked for him. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

ummmm, biologically she is not. She has BOOOBIES! Anyway, check out this link There was a very interesting paragraph on that page, and I think it applies equally to this discussion. Here it is: --begin quote It is a telling commentary on the skewed importance we give any matter relating to sexuality that this rumor exists at all. Numerous children come into the world less than perfectly formed, yet no stigma is attached to those who require surgery to repair a malfunctioning heart, a disorder of the digestive system, or almost any other condition unrelated to gender. Yet when the question of sexuality is raised, it's all whispers behind hands and meaningful looks. --end quote. I hope he's trolling, but I don't think so. People who have opinions like his make me incredibly angry. The minute I saw the subject of this thread I couldn't help but feel my heart sink, because I knew this debate was comming. It's so frustrating to read the opinions of someone who doesn't seem to listen to what other people say or feel. It must be nice to live in a world where there are no different opinions to consider. Rhino: I must know ten children of gay couples. They range in age between 8 and 16. By and large they are some of the most stable and well-balanced children I've met. Some of the older ones are starting to have heterosexual relationships. I've never heard any of these children complain about having to explain their parents lifestyle choices. I have personal experiences with a lot of these kids because a few of my best friends from College were gay, and through them I became involved in the gay community. To say that children of gay couples are jaded simply shows that your thoughts are rooted in stereotype. You simply must not paint a whole group by the traits you've seen in a few individuals. In addition, I actually doubt you've personally observed these traits. From the rest of your comments I suspect you've fabricated them to "prove" your point. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfe Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

Thanks Chris. My heart sank when I read about him taking off with ice.
