  1. I can't believe people are paying for them. Are skydivers so lazy they can't make them themselves anymore...? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

It must be nice to be so willing to selectively ignore news sources. Actually, that article came off the AP wire. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  3. The current version of Media Player is 9. It'd be smart to upgrade, it's free afterall. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  4. I'm canceling. Haven't been paid this month, so I can't afford it. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  5. XP Pro on my laptop, but I use a variety of Win2K, Reh Hat, and SUSE on a combination of workstations and servers at work. I'm thinking I might add a Power Mac to the mix, just for fun. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Blair is of course on the record as completely supporting a unilateral attack, however - nobody believes him. Opposition amoung the English public to a unilateral attack is huge - over 80%. It would be political suicide for Blair to move without the UN, and he knows it. Most analysts do not believe he will act without the UN. From Salon: http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2003/02/13/europe/index.html and from the same article, written before the mast protests last week: The UK will not act without the UN unless Blair is ready for retirement. I've been wrong before, but I don't think I am this time. Mark my words. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

19?!? Where did that number come from? There's only one country on the record as going alone without the UN. It's doubtfull that even England will go without UN. __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  8. Your porter isn't that old. Serial number 662, was manufactured in 1967. http://mypage.bluewin.ch/aviationworld/pc6/porterakt.htm#Canada _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  9. This is true. Not necesarily. Oil is sold on a world market, a change in supply or demand anywhere effects the prices everywhere. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

  11. It depends. If you're going to order new, and there's a two month backlog, and you're going to do another 40 jumps before you get it? The 190 might be a good choice if you commit to getting canopy coaching. If you're going to buy something off the shelf, or used - get the 210. The 190 is a big piece to bite off for right now. 1.25 is very high for someone with 30 jumps, but is within reason for someone with a hundred, depending on skill. Make sure to listen to the advice of your instructors, they know you best. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  12. I did a two way belly jump with skymedic once, the average speed was over 130. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  13. ex, ex, ex, ex gf used it as her pet name for me. I started using it as an online identity on the Internet about 8 years ago. I think it's cute because I can imagine a satirical superhero on a good commedy show (like SNL) with a name like this. I picture a big, bumbling idiot kinda like The Tick, only dumber. Don Delouise as 'Captain Chaos'. Yeah, that's it... _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  14. Yeah, I know an AFF instructor who doens't know how to pack, either. I find it absolutely mind boggling... That said, Emmie - putting on a main is relatively straightforward, and it is something that you should learn how to do. If you don't know how to do it, make sure to ask someone knowledgable. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  15. I dunno. Lori? Paul? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  16. Heh... I guess so! If I hadn't added that condition, I see a line up of people taking a 2 second delay from 4,000 and asking for beer. Which isn't all that bad. I'm pretty generous with my beer, anyways. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  17. Absolutely. Drug addiction is an ilness requiring treatment. Alcoholism is also an illness requiring treatment. Choices may lead to the disease, just as choices may lead to HIV, but the disease itself is not a choice. Nobody chooses to be an addict, nobody decides they want HIV. My comparison falls apart at one level, though. People choose paths that lead them to alcoholism and addiction, it's not clear what paths lead to depression. This is getting off track, though. Depression is a serious illness, that if left untreated will kill your friends. It is an often fatal disease. We need to be aware of what the signs of it are, and do everything we can to help people when we do see it. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  18. I'm surprised. We've learned so much about depression in the last 20 years. We know that clinical depression is a neurological disorder, and not a reflection on that individual. I see somebody choosing to kill themselves when clinically depressed as somebody who chooses to rob a 7-11 to feed their crack addiction - they're not in any position to make that judgment, and are doing it for reasons they don't understand and can't control. Depression is a disease that must be spotted and treated. Back home I have a lot of hard core geek friends who often spent hours and hours on BBS's, then chat rooms and other electronic meeting places. Some of these guys were incredibly anti-social because of their "nerdiness". In hindsight, the degree to which so many people completely isolate themselves from others, only serves to allow depression to manifest itself deeper and deeper into the psyche. The fact that there are these electronic meeting places that allow people to come out of their reclusiveness, and actually have some good social contact is wonderful. Online communities help a great many people have meaningful lives. They're truely great things, and really are changing the world. But they only go so far. A good friend will see in someone that they're not doing well, will reach a hand out to help. This is a lot harder online because it's so rare that we actually get a glimpse of people's true state. I'm reminded of a Far Side cartoon with a dog infront of a computer, the caption reads "on the internet, nobody knows you're a dog." It's just really hard to see someone who's in trouble through the filters of an online interaction. My heart goes out to the friends and family of this guy, but it only reinforces how important it is to be able to spot signs of depression, and do whatever you can to make sure that person gets the help that they need. Depression is not a weakness of character, it's a disease that needs to be treated, quickly. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  19. I supose I should've added one more condition to my wager, which would've been one that says the jump must've been from full altitude - 13,5. That means the second count goes from 20 to 55, roughly. A thousand feet is 5 seconds. I doubt very much that once you add in the energy and adrenaline of a jump, that people can count accurately to 55 and still be within 5 seconds of accuracy. Doing a solo jump where the jumper is mostly staring at the ground gives a huge amount of ground rush, too. And while I don't own a brewery, I AM a certified brewmaster, and still have connections at Molson.... When I made the wager I was not arguing that first jump students need altimeters, clearly in my mind, they don't. I made the wager to quiet all those who were saying that jumping without one teaches a level of altitude awareness that's good enough to bet their life on. It isn't. If you can't pull within a 2000 foot range, you shouldn't be betting your life on it. I doubt most can. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  20. Not sure anymore. I'll PM you if I see it again. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  21. Yup, I'll give a case of beer to anyone with less then 400 jumps who can consistently pull within +-1000 feet of an intended altitude on a solo jump without an altimeter. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  22. I'm a sorta big boy, but used to be a much bigger boy. The only rig I've ever owned is a Javelin. It works well. HOWEVER. Back when I was a REAL big boy, I jumped an Inifinity for a while. You can get them in truely ludricrous sizes. In fact, I even saw one with a formerly used SET 400 as a main for big students. Infinities seems to scale up very well. If I didn't know better, I'd say that the Inifinity was really designed FOR bigger guys... _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  23. Not only am I in it, I'm on my head, too. Damn. There goes my reputation as a belly flier... _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

    Who here...?

More keywords. Resumes get scanned by machines looking for keywords LONG before a human ever sees it. The more keywords you've got on it, the better odds of a humen ever seeing it. List every technology you've ever touched. ASP, JSP, C++, VB, Cobol, Fortran, Oracle, SQL Server, Listp, VBA, VBC, PERL, Sun, HP, IRIX, Windows 2000, XP, NT, etc. List EVERYTHING. Put them up at the top. They, literally - are the most important part of a techie resume. Ditch the "references available upon request" line. Nobody cares about references anymore. If they want some, they'll ask for them. Most large companies won't give references, anyways. Good use of action words in the task descriptions. However, despite very technical tasks (convert excel to blah), you've got managerial job titles. Either you were an executive, or a techie! which one? The tasks you list do not match the job titles. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  25. The only way somebody could answer knowledgably is if they've evaluated every lens on the market. That said, It think Sony only makes one .6 with the correct threadwidth, and like I said, ltDivers Sony .6 is significantly wider then my Kenko .5 I think the Sony .6 will most definately be wide enough for RW use. A search at www.bhphotovideo.com for kenko .5's, show : SGW-05 37mm 0.5x Wide Angle Converter Lens - for Sony TR Series Camcorders @ $24.95 SGW-05 Hi 37mm 0.5x Hi Wide Angle Converter Lens @ $49.95 SGW-05 Pro 37mm 0.5x Pro Wide Angle Converter Lens @ $79.95 The one that I have isn't even on the list. I got my .5 kenko from http://www.pia.com/skydance/accessor.htm. Kenko has 4 ".5" lenses, at 4 different prices. I don't know the difference between all of them, but I know there's at least two different fields of view. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
