I was in the same boat a few months ago. 21 years old, no credit (not bad credit, just no credit). I ended up convincing my parents to cosign on a card with me. It's not like I'm going to rip them off; they know where I live. Anyway... What are you putting down as your job? I found out (after I got my card of course) that instead of putting down my part time job and income I should have put "Student." Apparently they give a lot more leeway to students.

I live the opposite scenario. I've done maybe 30 sitfly jumps spread out over the last year and a half. Once I got to the point of being able to fall more or less straight down, I stopped making progress. Sometimes going a month or more between freefly jumps, I'm actually losing my already weak freefly skills (I corked on my last sitfly jump ). I get schooled by people who have the same amount of freefly jumps, the difference being that they have done all of those jumps recently, not one every few weeks or months. The same thing will happen to somebody who only makes one belly jump a month.

I got a Kenko MD-05W (.5), an MD-20T (2x zoom), and the required adapter rings as part of a kit for $45 off eBay. If you search Froogle for MD-05W you can find lots of them in the $40 range. As always, use a site like Reseller Ratings to make sure that the company is legit.

- Tricked out Vector 3 Micron (skyhook, chrome, rings, etc.) - Lotus 150 - PD Reserve (don't remember the sizes off hand, but I'll take the next step up from a 150) - Cypres 2

I was thinking something along the lines of a simple "Report to Editor" button, or maybe something like Craigslist does (see link for example).

0:5:0 The DZ has a turbine for the first time since October. Did video for three 4way jumps and one 2way drill dive.

So how many consecutive months is that now?

Are you using Apache with mod_gzip? I've heard reports that mod_gzip combined with proxies/caches can cause blank page loads. Edit: If I recall correctly, the forum is on a seperate server and is proxied by the main web server. In that case, this and this might be relevant.

You are going to spend $100+ extra on the helmet. And when you do get a camera, you are going to want another helmet for when you aren't jumping with the camera.

I think he means with the 30mm threads. I've used a PC105 with 30mm threads on a couple of inside-RW jumps and it worked very well. I've attached a couple of the better frame grabs. The little bit of black in the corner is from the camera shifting slightly in the box, not from the lense.

I've got a couple jumps wearing my PC105 with a .3 inside RW jumps. It's worked very well for me.

0:2:0 Tons of tandems out for the first shorts-weather weekend we've had and the turbine isn't here yet, so the fun jumpers got the short end of the stick this weekend. On the DZ from noon until sunset and I only got on two loads. No big deal though, the tandems pay the bills and the Caravan shows up Monday.

There are also a handful of outdoor tunnels out there. I think one of the DZs in Indiana has one.

Yeah, that's the problem. The IMG tags for the broken images use backslashes in the path. Netscape correctly obeys RFC 1738 and escapes the slashes to %5C, generating a URL like http://www.dropzone.com/features/%5Cgraphics%5C2001%5Cimages%5Ckatana_demo1.jpg, which is bogus and results in a 404. IE, on the other hand, doesn't give a shit about little things like standards compliance so it just goes ahead and rewrites the URL.

I absolutely agree. CS 273 was one of the most challenging classes that I've ever taken. It could have been pure hell but the professor also made it one of the most interesting classes I've ever taken, and I ended up doing rather well (very well compared to the rest of my grades when I was at UIUC, but that's another story). BTW, do you happen to have any Large or XL Falling Illini shirts available? I'd like to get my hands on one.

I started in a highly ranked CS program (BS program) about a year after the dot-com bubble burst. I got discouraged quickly because I was seeing many recent graduates and soon-to-be graduates who couldn't find a job because although they had good grades in a top flight program, they didn't have any of the real-world experience that employers wanted. Now I'm in a BA program. It's certainly easier. Most of my professors have years of industry experience. The professors at UIUC were all incredibly smart but most of them had never worked outside of academia, which is not what I wanted to do. I miss some of the more math-related CS that I had in the BS program, but the BA program is giving me more real world experience and because it is a lighter workload I've been able to get a good job in the industry that is paying for certifications, giving me valuable on-the-job experience, and is a ton of fun to boot.

What instructions are you using? IIRC correctly, there a several good tutorials on installing Apache, PHP, and MySQL under Windows. Edit: tutorial - haven't read the whole thing, but it looks promising. Edit again: This one is a little terse, but it includes directions for slightly newer versions of PHP and MySQL, as well as Apache 2

If you really want to go far with a free SQL database, I'd suggest installing PostgreSQL (if you run Unix) or the free versions of Oracle 9i or 10g (warning, massive downloads). As you get further into it, the various MySQL quirks will get old fast, and once you start using stored procedures, triggers, and subqueries (none of which stable MySQL supports yet) you will never want to go back.

The Cookie boxes come presized for the particular camera, including the thumb screw. I believe that the newer style Bonehead boxes and brackets need to be drilled by the end user.

This might be the dumbest question ever......
indyz replied to BoostedXT's topic in Gear and Rigging
That's what I do. Everything in a gear bag to protect it from dirt and direct sunlight, then into the trunk or back seat. I've heard from several people who I trust that a few hours in the car isn't a big deal, it's days or weeks that can cause problems. -
0:4:1 Beer for my first camera jump. Also did my best freefly jump ever. OK, so really I just fell pretty much straight down and two other people did a great freefly jump around me, but it was still cool.

I got about $150 back. Had my taxes mailed by the middle of February. I figure if I'm getting less than $500 back and not owing anything, then I've got my deductions dialed in pretty well.

Ah. From chaoskitty's post ("it also blocks your last logon in your profile.") I thought we were talking about the full profile.
