0:6:0. Competed in the final MWSL meet at Hinckley. Had our highest meet total ever.

... boobies and network administration. The best nmap tutorial video ever (Windows Media format, NSFW). Lo-res Quicktime version here.

My night ended at 5:30 this morning, and only because I wanted a few hours of sleep before work. It was good for me.

3. Baseball -Chicago White Sox -Boston Red Sox Hockey -Tampa Bay Lightning -Colorado Avalanche -Minnessota Wild Basketball -Utah Jazz -Miami Heat -Orlando Magic Football - None? Surprising. And three out of 8 are Florida teams. Neat. I spent 10 minutes wracking my brain trying to figure out what football team I was forgetting until I remembered the Wild. 4. Pittsburgh?

What is the date of manufacture on the Cypres? Is it up to date as far as 4-year checks and battery changes go? -- B

I'm assuming that this is directed at me. I am, to put it mildly, insulted. I was simply trying to point out that when considering buying this product versus stealing it, one of the items in the "buy" column is that there are no legal issues. Do I think that $50 is too much for a video game? Absolutely. Is $18 a bit steep for an album? I think so. Have I ever swiped a song off of LimeWire or an ISO from SuprNova? Guilty as charged. I am no angel. I do not have any moral high ground to stand on. If somebody wants to steal music or movies or software and they understanding that they are committing a crime by doing it, then fine. I don't really care. I am just tired of this culture that has somehow convinced itself that downloading an album from Kazaa is any different than shoplifting it from Sam Goody. It ain't.

Because: - My TV is bigger than my monitor. - My couch is more comfortable than an office chair. - Two player games will be easier. - Oh and, extremely minor point, it's legal. List of games here -- scroll down the Atari Anthology section. Release date is November 16th. Oh yeah, it comes with Sky Diver.

SETI has already said that they don't know what the signal is, but it almost certainly isn't aliens. As far as UFOs, sure I believe that there are occasionaly sightings of flying objects which cannot be explained. But I don't believe that aliens have ever visited Earth.

I've done it a dozen times, including once at night. It's really not that tough. Losing contacts, even disposables, is expensive and annoying, though.

I'm Ellen Ripley? WTF?

Haven't dressed up since I was in high school. Even then it was pretty half-assed, just enough to avoid the punishment for showing up to my friend's parties in street clothes. This thread just got me browsing for costumes and I happened across this. Who the hell would buy that for their daughter?

Shocking! These guys should write this shit down. It should be a basic principle taught to every student who takes an E/M physics class... I don't see how sending physical objects is more efficient. An object a kilometer across, which would take massive amounts of energy to hurl across interstellar space, could easily be overlooked at it's destination solar system. Even a single highly directional radio beam, which admittedly isn't any easier to find, has the potential to reach hundreds or thousands of stars at a tiny fraction of the cost. But I'm not a physicist, so I'm probably wrong.

Theme from Hawaii Five-O. I also sometimes go with the themes from Magnum PI, Dukes of Hazzard, or The A-Team. People without caller ID ring as Dr. Zoidberg from Futurama doing his "woob woob woob" thing.

Albums/CDs That Have Transformed You & Your Musical Tastes?
indyz replied to Zennie's topic in The Bonfire
Weather Report: Heavy Weather and Jaco Pastorius: Jaco Pastorius. As a beginning bass player, Havona and Birdland blew my mind and got me interested in jazz. Unfortunately I can't hold a beat to save my life, so the bass thing never went anywhere. But I still like jazz. Buddy Holly's Greatest Hits. Not only is it great music, but starting from rockabilly it led me to everything from motown to Elvis to doo-wop to psychobilly to bluegrass. The Word: The Word. I'm not a religious person and I never thought I would enjoy gospel until I heard this album. -
I'm seeing it now, but the dogs are blurred out.

No. If the feature even exists, HH has turned it off. You can use external tools, however. I used to have a proxomitron filter that could block a user's posts. And I've been thinking about writing a Mozilla extension with similar functionality, but I just don't have time right now.

How about a new bear: The Prime Number Shitting Bear The winters in Finland must get mighty boring.

You can send them a drop-dead letter -- you acknowledge that you owe them money, and by law they have to stop calling you -- but if these guys are the assholes that you make them out to be, they probably won't obey it.

Did you use it as a wrist altimeter without the backplate? I called them once and that was the first and last thing the mentioned to me. I sent my Neptune in at the beginning of this season because I botched the firmware upgrade and when it came back, the backplate had been removed. I was a little concerned, but I figured since the factory did it... About three weeks ago the screen cracked. I gave it to Alti-2 at the Rantoul and they are fixing it for free, but it'll be over a month without my altimeter by the time I get it back.

"We got ourselves a DWG, dead white guy."

Do you mean the little "ads" at the bottom? I've been seeing those for at least a couple of days, but I don't send many PMs so it could be old.

funks, did you follow the links that teason had in his post? They ripped off his DZ's website wholesale, including the name of the business. They aren't "just" borrowing a few pictures here and there. It's unethical and it's illegal.

Woah, how'd I miss this? The video is edited, including a couple of other events and even some actual skydiving. I'll upload it either today (Monday) when I get to work, or Tuesday if I forget, which seems likely.

Hinckley has (or maybe had) a digital camera mounted on the outside of their Twin Otter. If I recall correctly, the shutter was rigged to the green light, so the camera would fire continuously as long as the green was on. After each load somebody would swap memory cards and the new pictures were shown on a TV in the hangar. It was definitely hit-or-miss; our 4-way team did 6 jumps in a meet that day and we never got a good exit shot. But on every load where I watched the "take" there was usually one or two cool shots.
