  1. That is simply not possible. While there are software hacks that will unlock some options previously only available on the 10D (things like IS0 3200, flash exposure compensation, RAW+JPEG mode, mirror lock up, and a couple of extra AF modes), some important things like the size of the frame buffer (4 for the 300D, 9 for the 10D) and continuous drive rate (2.5 fps vs. 3 fps) are limited by hardware.
  2. Make a Turducken. It's a shitload of work, but it looks really good.
  3. It's going to have to be a lot, otherwise I'll be renting games, keeping them to the end of the 30 days, then returning them for credit.

    Why 7 cell

The 6 and 8 cell mains I've seen had line groups meeting at the center, like this.
  5. Neither the USPA nor the government require any licensed jumper to have an AAD. Some individual dropzones choose to require AADs for all jumpers or just jumpers below a certain experience level, but most don't.
  6. An EOS Rebel is a film camera. Marz, the 1.6x crop factor only affects Canon digital cameras. Don't worry about it.
  7. I personally feel underworked at 12 hours, I'd go crazy at 10. I only work 20 hours a week, though. Also, I can put off my student loans for longer if I remain a full time student.
  8. As far as I know, no Sony MiniDV cameras support USB 2, and USB 1 just isn't fast enough.
  9. Oh jeez. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, I'm saying I wouldn't use it so I don't care. A news feed, on the other hand, I'd be all over that.
  10. I could care less about the forum topics, but the news would be nice as an RSS feed.
  11. King Airs are for losers. Real men use a B-25 (see the complete AVWeb article here).
  12. Or how about a 3-1/2" cast iron pan/spoon rest/ash tray
  13. Have you tried an eBay Want It Now ad?
  14. It looks like another season is in the bag. I think I did pretty well. Almost 200 jumps. I'll be a coach as soon as the weather cooperates long enough to do the eval jumps, I've got my C license, I made 20 wingsuit flights and bought a GTi, and I did a hybrid. I didn't manage to do much CRW, unfortunately, and it wasn't a big freefly year for me either. Beyond last year's list, I started flying camera, I swooped my Triathlon, I did another season of 4way (3rd in our region... out of three eligible teams, but that's just between you and me), I did ground crew for a demo, I did a reverse cross-country, I tried out some smaller parachutes, and so much more. For next year: CRW, and I mean it this time, even if I have to travel. Get serious about doing video. More swoops. Maybe a demo.
  15. My desktop, my iopener, an iMac (lamp style), an old crappy Compaq, and probably enough spare parts to build another shitty computer.
  16. $1.84 at the closest station to my house. 10 miles south it's pushing $2.00.
  17. Dig through your FirefoxBackup folder. You are looking for two files called bookmarks.html and bookmarks.xml. Put them in the same place in the new Firefox folder that should have been automatically created.
  18. Important! Only do the following if Andy's solution doesn't work. You will loose your plugins and pretty much everything except for your bookmarks if you follow my instructions. Open up the Task Manager and end any Firefox processes that are still running. Then go to c:\Documents and Settings\[your user name]\Application Data\Mozilla There should be two files (pluginreg and registry) and a folder (Firefox). Delete the files and rename Firefox to FirefoxBackup. Try running Firefox again.

    Jeopardy

If I'm not mistaken you are incorrect. I could be wrong, but I believe the answer to that is H&R Block. I found this in an article about H&R Block's IT department: "Number of employees (end users): About 20,000. 'During tax season, the company grows to 100,000 with about 80,000 seasonal employees. A lot of our offices are only open four months of the year.'" Could be right, if the Jeopardy answer was only counting year-round employees.
  20. I've got the pistol so I'll keep the pesos. That seem fair?
  21. Yes, yes I have. The miracle of life is disgusting.
  22. I saw those threads. As far as I know the problem is an electronics issue caused by combining older lenses with newer cameras. I found a store selling their own custom Digital Rebel kit consisting of the body and this Sigma lens, so it seems like a good bet that they work together.
  23. I've been on the lookout for a replacement lens for my Digital Rebel pretty much since I got the thing. The lack of a "real" focus ring on the kit lens is driving me nuts. So I was flipping through my new B&H catalog today and I noticed this Sigma. The price is right, Sigma seems to have a good reputation, and it's got the range to match my .43 and .5 video lenses. There are only a couple of things holding me back: 1) It won't work with a 35mm camera if and when I buy one, and mainly 2) I searched the forum and didn't find anybody else using one and I hate being a guinea pig. So, has anybody used one in freefall? Or even just tried one out on the ground?
