I would highly recommend SportRX goggles: http://www.sportrx.com. I have a pair of G107s that were made to the same prescription as my glasses and they work great. Customer service is excellent as well. My prescription did not fall into the tolerances listed on the web page, but I called them up and they made it work for me. Another jumper at the DZ has a pair of what I think are G102s and she seems satisfied as well. -- Brian Homepage AIM: suprmath

0:1:0. Eh. I'm finally cleared for the turbine but it'll be three weeks till I can jump again. Stupid spring break putting me four and a half hours from the DZ. -- Brian Homepage AIM: suprmath

Last semester the Falling Illini had at least a dozen students (probably more on weekends that I missed) take the FJC and make a first jump. Two of us are left. We had more than that do tandems and, as far as I know, none of them came back. -- Brian Homepage AIM: suprmath

So? C = average. Bush went to Yale and Gore went to Harvard. Being an average student at either of those colleges is nothing to be ashamed of. -- Brian Homepage AIM: suprmath

I doubt that. There are way easier ways to kill yourself than packing a double mal. That, and I know that Phree and SkymonkeyONE pack their own reserves, as well as several others. -- Brian Homepage AIM: suprmath

Zappa did in fact have a great song called Titties and Beer. If you are going to download it from somewhere, I would recommend the extra long live version. It's about a badass biker who's girlfriend and beer is stolen by the devil. Hilarious stuff. -- Brian Homepage AIM: suprmath

This makes me think that you are wondering about landing straight down, not straight in. By straight in, they mean without riser input to gain speed for a swoop-type landing. -- Brian Homepage AIM: suprmath

Things Drop Zone taught me about skydiving: 1) Tracking is for sissies. 2) Cool jumpers purposely wrap people who piss them off. 3) Making a really obvious cut in a cutaway will cause a mal followed by reserve container lock. 4) It's possible to chop, dive down to you buddy with a mal, and hand feed his reserve pilot chute. 5) Pulling a reserve on the ground will wank the jumper off of his feet. 6) Everybody does a 4-way for their first jump. 7) Go ahead and board the plane with you leg straps off. Edit: College boy can't count. -- Brian Homepage AIM: suprmath

Over the phone between two WinME boxes? You need to get networking going between them, which as far as I know, isn't possible with the software that comes with ME. The simplest solution would be to buy a product like pcAnywhere from Symantec. -- Brian Homepage AIM: suprmath

Due to general fucked-upedness at Microsoft, no manufacturers are allowed to give out recovery media that includes the XP operating system. This, in conjuction with their somewhat draconian authentication key program, is supposed to help curb piracy. In reality, the only thing that authentication keys do is piss off people who tinker with their systems a lot. The average home user, business user, or casual software pirate will never have to worry about it, but the people who mess with their systems on a regular basis find it to be a huge pain in the ass. -- Brian Homepage AIM: suprmath

I get the same crap all of the time here at the University. "The Zip drive doesn't work and I can't get the disk out." Long story short, she had managed the plug the parallel cable in correctly but forgot about the AC adapter. She thought I was a genius when I pulled out my trusty paperclip and got the disk out. That helped her solve the error message she got on her other computer when she tried to access a Zip drive (with power, this time) with no disk in it. -- Brian Homepage AIM: suprmath

FallingMarc and I went to the Rantoul Village Board meeting last night. This email that Marc later wrote to all of the club members has all of the important info: If any of the Chicago area jumpers want to come down and show support for the WFFC, that would rock. The meeting is a 6:00pm next Tuesday in Rantoul, email or PM me if you want directions. -- Brian Homepage AIM: suprmath
